Are there any other Wrimos out there in the Lynchburg Area? I'd be willing to sponsor some write-ins if anyone else in this area interested in those types of activities.

Hi there!

It looks like you are about an hour from Lexington and a bit more to Roanoke so that might be a bit of travel in either direction. However, if you would like to post a note on the Shenandoah Valley regional forum please do so. We have a Point of Contact for the Lexington area. I am not sure where her actual hometown is but she might be wiling to schedule a write-in halfway between the two of you. Also, if you do meet up with other Lynchburg area Wrimos, you might want to consider becoming a POC yourself. This way as you schedule write-ins they can be added to our calender of events. Please join us!

You're very welcome to join the Charlottesville group. We'll be having some write-in activity on weekends, so we'd love to see you if you can make it. If you want to keep up on what we're doing, follow the Virginia:Shenandoah Valley region or check out our blog, mailing list, etc.

I don't live in Lynchburg, but I live in Chamblisburg in Bedford County. Depending upon the side of Lynchburg, it's about a 40 minute drive. It's nice to know that someone close will be going through this at the same time.

There are a few of us Wrimos out in Lynchburg...but we don't have much transportation--seeing as how we're college students. So we'd be pretty much stuck around the immediate area of Lynchburg including the Barnes and Noble a mile or two from Liberty University (where the shuttle can get us).

Otherwise...I think I tried a shoutout last year and received minimal response. (-_-); Sorry, would love to do a write-in or something, but---I just had to pick a college way out in the middle of rural VA (and to think, over the summer I'm in the Alexandria area... *sigh*). Oh the irony.

What if we plan on doing a write-in once a week at the B&N down there next to Liberty?

EVERYBODY!

hey hey hey! This is Ben K- your Point of Contact (POC) for the area, which is kinda tough because this area is HUGE! and because of that, I'd like to have everybody get together in Roanoke, being a major centerpoint, for a Kick-off. BUT! because I don't live in Roanoke, I'm trying to see if those Hollins University greats can set something up for us.

Now!, I don't want to stop anybody from have a meeting out there in your own area - in fact, I'm planning on having one in Floyd this Thursday (the 23rd) to get information for those who are interested in my hometown. I'm hoping that everyone in Dublin, Christiansburg, B-burg, Fredricksburg, and every other *-BURG will be having meetings in their hometowns throughout the NaNoWriMo year, because I know it's tough to travel these great distances and high fuel costs.

Susan, our wonderful ML in the Shenandoah Region has asked us to join them in their Region so that our word counts can be counted with theirs. I told her how much I'd love to have our own region, and we just might in the next year or so, but for now I don't think it would be a bad idea to lend our help to some other Appalachian writers until we can establish our own full-scale region.

Whatcha think?

But we're out here, and we're all going to be kicking some major noveling ass this year, because we can, and we will!

Please don't hesitate to email me with questions or info or whatever you might need - I'm all geared up to go, and I'll help you boost that big brain of yours to keep on trucking!

Thanks.

Ben K.

I'm there! I think it would be awesome if we could meet at the Barnes and Nobles and have a writing party throughout the month. I felt like I'd be the only one around here, but I'm not. Either way, I think it'd be great to be able to get together with other wrimos in the area and talk and write with them. If we set up a meeting, I'm in!

Hey Lynchburg Wrimos!

Just wanted to stop by and say hello. This is Susan one of the Co-MLs for the Shenandoah Valley Region.

Ben, aka brkirkland, has courageously stepped up to represent you as your Point of Contact within the Shenandoah Valley Region. The SVR was originally set up by NaNoWriMo HQs in 2007 to run from Winchester to Roanoke so you have always been part of our family. Now we would love for you come over and make it official! Your regional calendar is waiting to host your events and write-ins. The Floyd area meet-up on the 23rd has already been added.

Just as a side note: NaNoWriMo HQ is hoping to dismantle all the Elsewhere regions throughout the country and form smaller regions within them so that everyone can be represented in their own hometowns. You have a home with us but I did notice that the greater Roanoke area has a growing number of participants. Probably enough Wrimos to form your very own region. If you would rather go that direction all you need is someone to step up as ML. I am happy to assist that person in any way that I can to help make that happen for you if that is your wish. There may be enough time to get things set up for this year and I can walk you through the steps. If not, our door is always open. Word counts aside, we want you for your wit, wisdom and comradery.

Best regards and happy noveling!

Susan

Hi! I'm in the Lynchburg area as well and would be very interested in possibly doing a write-in over at the Barnes and Noble on Wards Road. I was in the Raleigh, NC are last year and never was able to get to the spots since they were a bit of a drive for me, but this would be great!

I'd be up for the write-in at B&N. Just need a time. Since I am restricted to using the Shuttle (unless I can convince a friend for a ride--she's also doing Nanowrimo) I'll definitely be able to get there about 2:30pm at the earliest, definitely by 3pm and can keep writing until about 6pm.

It should be fun if we can manage it. The 1st, however, might be a bit difficult, since I have some shopping to do. Otherwise, I'm looking forward to anything we can stir up. XD (Lynchburg seems to be quite a quiet little city, doesn't it?)

Hi, I'm in LY as well and I know a co-worker who is also writing. It wasn't clear from the posts here specifically when some might be hanging out at the B&N - this Saturday, Nov. 1?... and what time/s? Anyway, I think I will venture over in the late afternoon too.

Hey, TJ! I'm her co-worker btw.

I'm busy this weekend and most of the upcoming week, but if we could meet at Barnes & Noble, that'd be great.

You tell me when you'll be there and I'll fly over. I'll still go see what's happening tomorrow afternoon. Haning artwork at the studio in the morning and then off to write.

Ok, I know this isn't the desired place for a technical query but I am not getting immediate response from Home site so I'm hoping someone may get back quicker here....
I am trying to paste what I have done so far for a word count. I can put info in everywhere on the edit your novel page except for the novel input window for a word count.
It says to:
Paste your entire manuscript here and our robots will count it for you and update the word count on your author profile. For a simple way to scramble your manuscript before uploading it, see our Technical FAQ.

Unfortunately I can't even get a cursor to come up in that screen.
Any suggestions besides waiting for hours, days or weeks for a response from the home site.....
Frustrated in Lynchburg....

Hey there Lynchburg people. I'm in Forest, and work in Lynchburg. My site name is the articulates and my number is 441880. Check me out and let me know where you are. I subscribed to this mail, but am new to the site so this is a bit confusing so far. I have only uploaded word counts and a synopsis and my own info so far. Hmmm. Hope you're still out there.

Great, there are several of us around. Let's just do it again Saturday night at 7pm.
Or maybe some would like to do something earlier like 1pm.
Not much that's open late around here so we just have to do with what we got here.
Just keep writing. Our elsewhere area has been moving up the number line....
I could be up for a Panera's morning write during the week at 7 or 8 am for early birds. Whatever works for folks.
