Hey fellow Wrimo's,

In effort to try to get as many people as possible to a kick off party. I'll be in contact with fellow ML Becky in order to concrete something but I wanted to try to get your input early enough on.

A few possible locations:

Avol's Bookstore: located at 315 West Gorham Street. I've been told they're very good with allowing group NaNo-er's and by allow food/drink. Someone would need to be a power strip and extension cord I believe. I have a power strip though, so I'm sure we can find people to make sure it works.

College Library: located at 600 N. Park Street. It has large open areas with outlets, a cafe and also rooms that can be reserved. It's open to the public until midnight with some fairly cheap parking located right below the building. Free parking after 10 and on Sundays.

When?

I know a lot of people lead busy lives and I want to figure out the most convenient time for everyone.

Weekends: The 17th, 18th, 24th and 25th work really well for me if we would like to do a kick off party to meet and greet prior to starting the writing process. Otherwise the 1st and 2nd would be good for a kick off date where some writing would *hopefully* get done.

Which dates work best for everyone else? Time wise, I'm free after 2:30 on Friday's and all of Saturday and the 2nd.

Let me know! I hope we can find something that works well for everyone.
Dani

The 18th may or may not work for me, all other weekends are booked for me.

I guess midnight, November 1st, I'll cozy up at home in my PJ's and pound away at the first chapter.

Thanks for trying to start a kickoff party.

Friday evenings would be best for me, except I won't be around Halloween weekend.

Being in high school weeknights are not appriciated. And Michaelangelo's may be a good place to meet- it has really good internet connection. If I have definite dates and times- I'll be there. ^.^

I like November 2nd--I'm expecting Halloween festivities to spill into Saturday for me. Likely to be gone the following weekend, but weekends after that also sound fun.

And so...no kickoff party?

This is going to be a beast of a time. I've never done this before, so I'll start with two novels, one semi-serious and one consisting of various dares off of the forums and random events that may or may not develop into a plot, and after a week decide if one or the other will be the one I want to win with. Perhaps I'll go for broke and win with both, who knows?

I suggest Escape on Williamson Street just to the east of Paterson on Sunday afternoon, November 2.

Hey, so I will be out and about Sunday afternoon most likely around 3 or so. However, it seems like a group is forming midnight on the first, check out the other thread for more info.

Anyway, I'm not a hundred percent sure yet where I'll be yet, most likely some place near state street. I'll let everyone know. If anyone has a preferred spot let me know.

Dani - et al....is Avol's going to be open at midnight Friday night? As in, could folks meet there at 12:01 AM on November 1, if we wanted? I'd REALLY like to have a kick-off if we can, otherwise - I'll be in my jammies, cup o' tea at hand, and start writing! I've never done this before either but I am getting REALLY excited! I haven't decided on the major points yet for sure (you know, Who? When? and How Crazy Are You, Anyway?) so we'll see what happens.

If not midnight-oh-one November 1, are there going to be plans for meet-ups other times? I *think* it might be inspiring to get together for a little rah-rah (but again, I've never done this before either so have no idea what to expect A-tall).

waitin' to hear......

Okay, everyone, the time to write is fast approaching! I'd like to have a chance to meet up before we're all on the deadline, so I'm planning to hang out on Thursday so we can get to know one another. I'll bring my outline to give the illusion of productivity, but if enough of you fine authors join me, I might not even touch it!

Thursday, October 29
8-10pm
Barriques
1831 Monroe St
Barriques Website and Directions

I'll try to be conspicuous with my fiction outline, but look for my black trenchcoat, a bright green shirt, and waist-length brown hair.

i would be there however i have to work at Borders west that day. Which by the way is a good place to meet up too for future ideas. Not a lot of outlets though, but some nice tables, good drinks (made by me) and a great writing atmosphere. Just a thought.

Dale- Avol's is actually only open until 9pm I believe. However, I know many people are meeting up at Misty Mountain games on the east side. However, if you'd be taking a bus you'd be stranded after midnight until 6 when it starts back up!

Bex, sounds like a good plan. I have an exam and French class until around 9, however, I'll be sure to show up.

Also, I think I'll be sitting in the upstairs area of Starbucks on St. Street on Sunday as I won't be starting until 3 or 4 and Avol's closes at 5.

Also: Fellow UW students, if you're in need of a quiet place to write/study and want to discover a super neat secret hide away, pass through the North Stacks on the 2nd and 4th floors of Memorial Library into a quiet study area. I really like going there, I feel like I'm part of a secret club!

I can do Barriques on Thursday, maybe not for the full 2 hours, but I can do it.

OK! I'm going to try to hit Barriques on Monroe! I have to portray a Cool Dead Lady at the Museum until 7, and I have class until 9 - but I'll try to rush in for a few. I have a couple possible rough notions on scraps - but that's OK, we can't start writing until Nov 1 anyway (she said, anxiously, chewing on her lip).....

I'll try to be conspicuous too - and hey, I have waist-length brown hair too! However........you won't mistake me for friend Bexdragon: my hair is up in a barrette. Also - I wear long calico dresses, I'm 5' tall (in my shoes) and 65 years old.

eeeeeeeeeeee-HAH! (oh - PS - I found out the Library in Helen C. White *IS* open 24 hours, but you have to be in there before midnight unless you have a college ID.) I bet we can meet there through the month........

If nobody shows up to Delve Night at the store I will try and pop down for a bit. Depends on how supremely tired I am tonight. ;)

Midnight Launch at Misty Mountain is not going to be possible. Vanatosis (the store manager) had to drive up to Minnesota today last minute, and the owner was not going to keep the store open for 4 or 5 extra hours for a non-gaming related event.

I will still be doing a midnight challenge against Van, just not in person. ;)

So am I getting this right that it's Helen C. White tonight?

Be there before midnight or have a student ID?

Where abouts?

Thanks for joining me last night, Chris and Dale!

Tonight's the first possible night!
Helen C. White for midnight writing - arrive before midnight or have your student ID handy. I'll leave it up to the campus folks to arrange a place to meet.

I'll be joining the ranks of the pajama authors at home, since my car will be out and about without me.

Soooo.....are some o' you going to be in Helen C. White library tonight at midnight? I *may* try to do that; if I do, as was asked before, WHEREFORE ART THOU, NaNos?

By the way - in case you were wondering: one of her colleagues once asked Helen C. White why it was that she always wore only purple clothing? She replied, of course....

"Because I look like...HELEN WHITE!"

(badumBOOM)

(Sorry - getting whippy as I gear up for my first NaNo...)

Umm...unless there's special hours tonight that I don't know about, College Library closes at 11:45 on Fridays (per the Web site).

Do we have a back up plan?
