Hey, all!

I'm a co-ML with Kalindria, and I live in REDLANDS! Last year, we had write-ins at Stell's once a week. Is anyone totally pumped to do this again? I would be so down. I'm a needy, car-less ML, but in return for rides would be willing to pitch in for that extra shot of espresso or hop over to Stater Brothers to get group snack like Goldfish, Oreos.

Let me know!

Hell yeah! Does everyone like Stell's? They were really nice to us last year. AND they have 2 free refills on the iced coffee which is only $2.25. With the economy the way it is, I'm taking any good deal I can get-- no matter how unhealthy it might be!

Let me know if Stell's is cool with all of you. Also-- what times would be good for everyone? Maybe Wednesday nights at 7?

Thx!

stell's is great, only is it still called stell's? i thought it had changed to something to do with farms or harvests or somesuch healthy sounding you know what. has it changed back again? i liked it as stell's so much better.

as for times, i personally prefer daytime if anyone else is up for that, like in the morning, not too early. but, whatever works for the majority.

cheers

Were you thinking, on weekdays? I am not totally opposed to morning write-ins on some days of the week, as I'm a student, but that might cut out some people with 9-5ish jobs.

Hopefully those people will let us know!!

hi all!

i'm a student at u of r. this is my first year doing this, and i'm really excited! i was hoping to join in on any write-in plans locally. i am car-less, but have another participating friend who has a car and might be willing to attend as well. if not, i will take a leaf out of sa's book and offer coffee/gas payments to anyone willing to drive.

around what time was everyone thinking for these write-ins? (i have to check my class schedule.)

Maybe we could do both morning and evening sessions. I'm doing some education credential work which means I need to visit high schools, like, all the time. So I don't know if I could commit to any mornings or early afternoons. Evenings-- maybe Tues or Wed would be best for me. We could definitely do both though, so everyone could have a community, however small, to write with whenever they have free time.

Lemme know what you think.

And any other write-in location ideas? Maybe, Denny's? Lol.

There's a Denny's right in front of the Walmart near the Washington st. Offramp that's pretty good. The staff is nice and if you tell them in advance what you're planning, they may be able to help get you a couple reserved tables. That one is just below Jap hill in the Grand Terrace area.

I keep forgetting what, exactly, is in Redlands, so my knowledge of that area generally ends on Barton rd. Basically, I know Riverside better than I do Redlands because of my many forays over there.

Here's a hint, try for one of the outdoor cafe style places as well... Dairy Queen, A&W, ect... places you can sit down outside and enjoy.

Just thoughts..

the problem with outdoor places is a) lack of plug points, b) noise levels and c) november days can get chilly ;0.

generally the barnes and noble bookstore in the citrus plaza welcomes writing related groups as long as they are open to everyone who wants to attend. if you are interested and we can agree on a time, i can call them and find out. we hold our scbwi schmoozes there and they are very welcoming. it's definitely quiet. and the starbucks has the best food around including now soup and sandwich deals. what's the consensus?

Last year I did the pre-NaNo brainstorming session at Stell's, but all the write-ins were on nights I had to work. It drove me nuts because I live and work right up the street from Stell's!!

If these were late mornings, EARLY afternoons, or any time on Wednesdays I could make it.

I'm down for Stell's on Wednesdays at 7!

Also, I work in the library at Crafton Hills College in Yucaipa, and I would be able to host meetings/write-ins Mondays through Thursdays in the afternoons after 3 p.m. We have several large tables, lots of plugs for laptops and as long as people are careful and clean up after themselves, snacks and drinks would be allowed. I would block us out a section on the 2nd floor, which is where the bookstacks are located. We have study groups up there all the time and no one really complains. Alternatively, we could all meet in the cafeteria, where noise wouldn't be an issue at all.

Also, I just wanted to clarify: I'm suggesting Crafton in addition to Stells, not instead of, on an alternate evening for people who maybe can't make Stells or who want to attend more write-ins.

The library is also open on Saturdays from 9 am to 1 pm, and the building is usually completely devoid of people, so we could easily claim the second floor then if anyone wanted to meet during that time. How do Saturdays sound to everyone?

Let me know if you're interested in meeting at Crafton and what days/times work for you from what I mentioned above and we'll go from there!

Hey Stacey!

Once you find a date/time that works well , just let me know and I can put it on the regional calendar and send out an email, if you'd like. Anytime I've got time and a ride, I'll be there. I love write-ins!

Thank you!

Hey tess... I have a feeling that I'm the friend that you mentioned who has a car... and just to say it again, I'm willing to give you a ride wherever, as well as anyone else who can fit in my car and needs a ride.

I am also in a show at the UofR... but I'm only assistant stage manager, but our schedules are the same. Mondays, wednesdays, fridays, and weekends are best for me, since tuesday and thursdays are rehearsal from 7 to 10.

Hey all! I regret to inform you that I will not be coming to the write-in tonight. I am definitely sad about having to miss out on an evening of writing alongside my compadres, but I'm writing a crazy-deadline front page article for our paper. The deeper we dig, it seems, the further we get from the truth. It definitely an exciting article. PM me if you want more info on that, LOL. I know writers always want info about juicy news.

I am still planning to hold a write-in next Wednesday. Does anyone want to meet again during that Thanksgiving break time? Maybe a change of place. I remember Denny's being really fun. Let me know when you're all available and what you're up for.

Hope you all have a lot of fun today. If you want, you can write mean things about me in your story-- but only if you show them to me next week!!

Back to breaking news,
SA

PS- Cooper's and my visit to the Palm Springs middle school today was really fun! Sometimes I forget how amazing kids are!

What newspaper do you work for? Do they need anyone?
I think there were about five or six of us there last night, but there was also a university group there.
I wrote 1900 words
