This is my first NaNoWriMo. I live in Cazadero but work in SR so I think I can make in. Look forward to meeting everyone.

Oh, hooray! I work and go to school downtown (if the JC counts as downtown... close enough), so it's nice to know I can find a place nearby to unwind and work on my word count at the end of the day.

Well, just print out the last page you typed on computer and bring a notebook, if you don't have a laptop. I'll be writing by hand by choice, probably-seems to help sometimes.

Writing by hand seems to be an easier way to really organize where you're going and what you're thinking since you're writing much slower. I've noticed that my writing is always better when I write by hand. Besides, you can still get a good chunk of writing done by hand. My first year of doing this, my NaNo buddy and I wrote in the free time at the end of our History class by word war and I got a good 1,000 words done each time.

Oh, another JC-attendee? :D I'm stoked that there are more people around me at the college besides my circle of friends who are planning to do NaNoWriMo. I hope to see you there at the Library write-ins!

I've tried writing on my computer and the first draft ALWAYS comes out better when I use pen/paper! I "see" more when I don't have that monitor staring me in the face. I'm thinking keeping a running tab of the number of words and not worry about getting it into the computer -- does anyone else do that?

We'll have plenty of electricity and WIFI if you do want to bring a laptop to the library write-in.

I think if I tried to keep a tab of words when writing, it would drive me nutty. I plan on typing each writing binge into my laptop when I'm done, and then counting by what the site says. If I think too much about it, I'll go batty.

I may actually be batty already, though. Jury is still out on that.

I can't wait to come and check in with everyone. I'm an SSU student with a car and I'd totally be willing to carpool on Mondays if anyone from the campus wants to go. Just send me a message. I look forward to seeing all of you there!

Ooh, neat! I'll be there... probably. I (also!) live in Cazadero and (also!) attend the JC, incidentally. I have found my tribe.

Hee, I'm in the Write-In now!
I've just hit a bit of an inspirational quagmire, so I figured I'd check on the board. Not many of us on laptops, which shocks my iGeneration sensibilities. Yes, I'm perfectly aware of how young and dumb it makes me sound, but the idea of 50,000 words by hand just makes my hand cramp up thinking about it.
Anyway, having a lovely time holed up in here out of the rain with so many other fervent novelists. If anyone checks this tonight, I'm the redhead in the beret: up for a word war? With any luck I'll wear the hat again next week (it's a good identifying item, I figure) if anyone's interested then.

Happy writing!

I'm a Cazaderian as well Mysterious Show. Did you make it to the write-in? The weather was pretty bad and I've caught my niece's cold so I thought I'd spare everyone instead of chancing getting them sick. How's everyone doing on their word count?

Hello, everyone.

I've been lurking so far, but I did go to the write-in last night. Like Isabel I live downtown and it's just too convenient.

I was nervous about writing in a room with other people, but it turned out to be a great experience for me. Even though I was sitting by myself, it was nice to be among "friends".

I think I saw RosePetal there. I was sitting at a table by the emergency exit door, wearing a blue pashmina and rocking to "chillout" Gregorian chants on my headphones. Richard Rossbach's Sacred Rhythms. It's on iTunes, if you're curious.

I'm also with SSUProWriMo, the modified Na-No group at Sonoma State University. I'll be going to the Monday write-ins there too. At least I'll make my word count on Mondays. :-)

It was great to see everyone there on Monday! Next time I'll have to start introducing myself so I can put some faces to names.
Love your beret, Rosepetal!

One key was found in the Forum Room at the library on Tues. morning. Does it belong to anyone here? Let me know!

So, I went to the write-in last night. It was good to see a few new faces.

I did put on my blue pashmina. I noticed quite a few folks wearing hats, so I don't know if I saw RosePetal there.

I am waaaay behind in my word count, but between the lunch hour write-in at the SSU library and this one, I logged in 3800 words, so I am a very happy camper. At least I know what I am capable of doing in one day.

I'm also finding techniques that work for me when I write. Each day I become more confident using them.

I have two journals - one for daily stuff and the other is for story ideas. I begin by freewriting in my daily one to get the wheels turning and as story stuff surfaces I switch to my story journal and write until the ideas stop flowing. Then I go back to freewriting until the story speaks to me again and I switch over. The key for me is to keep writing.

I use song titles as inspiration for stories, so I gotta have music when I'm writing. If you've seen me write, it's kinda funny. I'm swaying to the music on my headphones and mouthing the words to the songs. I'm keyed into this one album on my iPod right now, and it's been great for my writing.

And before I do any writing I close my eyes and take a moment to ground myself and focus.

I'd love to hear about what works for you.

I plan to be there next Monday. I'll wear my blue pashmina. Stop by and say hi. I'd love to meet you!

Jeangray and I are often the ones giggling at random intervals. We were the ones taking pictures last Monday.

Nope, unfortunately I had to miss last Monday's Write-In, but I'll be there this week, i am 95% sure!
I am, however, currently in the midst of moving, and my beloved beret has ended up in a box, I'm not sure which. Hopefully I'll have found it by Monday, but if not, :(.

Hope to see everyone at the library tonight! I had to miss last week's write-in but I'll be there tonight. I have on a green t-shirt and will be writing *gasp* with pen and paper.
