Gosh, with November drawing ever closer I think it's time to think about write-ins! I'll be arranging weekly write-ins at Lancaster again in our beloved Juicafe. We'll have a kick-off write-a-thon on the 1st so we can all get a good head start and then we'll have a weekly after work/school meetup so we can encourage each other, find out what's going on in everyone's novels, and hopefully get a good chunk of writing done away from the distractions of home. I'm thinking we do Monday evenings again. Any objections/suggestions?

It's also nice to get out and about, and November just isn't complete without the annual trip to Nero in Preston. Let me know what weekends are good for you and we'll sort something out.

Also, please feel free to use this thread to organise your own get togethers. For example if you're in Kendal and planning on taking your writing out to the chocolate shop for a couple of hours I'm sure you wouldn't have too much trouble convincing a couple of wrimos to join you (markie, we can get to the chocolate shop, right? :) ).

Current Weekly write-ins
Lancaster - Juicafe, every Monday from 5pm
Preston - Fishergate Nero, every Monday from 1pm

Mondays are good for me. =) Ooooh, I'm so excited about this! I've never been to a write-in before.

All my weekends for the next two years have been claimed by the boat club already (going home for the weekend is just about acceptable, but I don't think the other 7 people in my boat would be very happy if I skipped training to have coffee!), but if you arrange a Preston meet I will try to attend. No guarantees what kind of state I'll be in, but never mind. =P

Meh. Only weekend I'm free in November is the first one, and that's looking shaky. Looks like I'll be missing the Preston Nero write-ins this year....

Yay, an excuse to sit in Juicafe every day :) I was kind of hoping I'd have a laptop by now, but it looks like I'm going to be using my phone again.

I think that's bad for you, but I thought it was so cool last year that you got so much written on a phone :) Great Nano experience when people are creative about the medium they use to write on/with as well as what they write :0

I'm in on the Monday nights - am on holiday for the first week of November (Hopefully will get a good head start! :o) so won't be there for the first meeting.

An excuse to sit in juicafe? Wouldn't miss it for the world! :D

Just to get this out there; me, AmyB and a few others will be meeting at the Cafe Nero in Preston every Monday from about 1pm (Time subject to change since I just made it up). Other Prestoners are welcome to join us.

I think last year we started at about 5. I wouldn't really like to start any later than 6 as we've got some school goers, and I think Juicafe is only open until 8 anyway. There's aways a couple of people that come before the official start time and get a head start, and there are always some people who stay late. I'll be there from 5:30 whatever the official start time because that's when I finish work :).

Alternatively, Preston are having early afternoon write-ins (not sure if you're Lancaster based!) and there will be the kick-off write-in on Saturday at Juicafe. Again, I'll be there from 1:30 due to work but some eager beavers will be there early, no doubt :). Hope we can find a time when you can come and meet people though!

Well, looks like I won't be in juicafe all day mondays this year, but I'll be joining you guys some time after 4 (plus however long it takes me to walk from university).
I will, however, be showing up most other evenings too if I don't have any customers. Wish me luck :D

Is this the same time as the Monday write-ins? I'll be here all day today, but haven't seen anybody else yet.

I said I'd be there from 1:30 somewhere, so you probably won't be on your own for long. Me and Markie would have come earlier but I don't get out of work until 1:00pm.

If anyone else wants to stay until closing time, I'll be there.

They normally close at 8, but I've been asked to tell everyone that they're willing to keep serving us until 9 (or maybe later) if there's a few people still there.

Late to the party, but I have a Preston write-in question -- which Caffe Nero? The traditional Wrimo one on Friargate or the new one on Fishergate?

And will try and make it to the Monday lunchtime write-in, though the vicissitudes of the W-word mean that I won't be able to stay very long.

Now just heading off to the Friargate Caffe Nero to write my first thousand words or so.

Jesse said the one by the trainstation so I guess the Fishergate one? I'll send a PM and ask for you.

The directions given me by AmyB are:

Cafe Nero's is just opposite Primark or Debenhams IIRC. You literally walk out the train station, cross the road and turn right. Keep walking into the centre and you will see it. It is beyond the Starbucks and on the other side after the church place.

I assume that's the Fishergate one, since the Friargate one looks further away on the map.

OK, I'm a very naughty ML but I won't be able to make the write-in today :(. I'm sure you'll all be able to have fun without me and drink my share of cake shake :). I'll try and drop in on the way home and leave you a table tent so you can find each other, unless anyone rescued the one I left on Saturday?

Hiya
I'll be coming for the first time to the write-in and having met Star kitten at a party (ages ago) was thinking great I'll recognise someone! I presume a table tent is easy to spot anyway. I'll try and drag my fellow wrimoer boyfriend Hendryk along too.

See you at Juicafe,
Caroline

Darn, forum ate my post :(. Let's try again.
You'll have no trouble spotting people. They'll be the ones all huddled round various laptops, PDAs, notepads (mobile phone in one case) with NaNoWriMo stickers on them. You'll have to come back next week to get your own. I'm holding yours hostage so me and markie don't miss you both again:). I'm really sorry we won't be there tonight :(

I got that one ... would have brought it back today, but it ended up on our coffee table when a few other writers got together last night.

I'll put it back in my bag, keep it on the table whenever I'm here, just in case some random people turn up for an impromptu write-in.

Just to let you know, the Preston write-in attracted a meagre three people. But it will be the same again next Monday at 1:00pm, although we've moved to the more traditional Friarsgate location on account of it actually having two plug sockets.

Was very fun though, I was the life of the party :D

HoppyToad and AmyB are very lovely people. Come join us.

Help!

I'm in Ulverston! Are there any meet ups/ write in's over this way? I can't make it to Preston or Lancaster.

Is there a Kendal meet up? Or anywhere else south lakes?

I need some nanowrimo company and sanity - my friends all think I'm insane!!!

:-D

I have to say, 1pm on a weekday is not a good time for write-ins. I work till 7pm. Other people work and go to school etc. That's probably why you didn't have many at the Nero meet...

Hi Jo,

There's nothing at the moment but I'm sure we can drum up a bit of interest for a Kendal write-in if we try. Is there a place you think would be a good venue?

I'm quite aware of that, but it's something that's good for us because we can't attend the later ones due to either working night shifts and other things. We've got a couple more signed up for next weeks though and that's good enough for me.

Aw, sorry, Savannah. Maybe we can sort out an evening thing? Personally I was planning on making at least 1 trip to Preston. We could make it an evening write-in instead of a weekend if there's enough interest. The only weekend markie and I have free is next weekend anyway.
Show of hands, who'd like an evening write-in at Preston and what days can you do? I'd at least like to see you guys once so I can give you your sickers :)

Meh, write-ins are out for me this year I think. Evenings during the week are no good as I live several miles from Preston and don't drive. I'm working this weekend, and the next 2 after that I'll be in Norway so... Have fun without me :P Maybe I could make it to the TGIO party instead :D
