The forum does not appear to have polls, so I will do the best I can just asking for answers to the following questions.

If attending a NaNoWriMo meeting in a coffeeshop or similar venue, would you purchase beverages/snacks from the venue?

If attending a NaNoWriMo meeting in a location that does not sell food or beverages but does charge an hourly fee for room rental, would you be willing to pitch in for rental space.

If a NaNoWriMo meeting were to occur in a home rather than a public space, would you be more or less likely to attend?

Thank you!

I would feel obligated to buy beverages/snacks at a coffee house because it's only fair, but I don't have much money. I would help to pitch in as much as I could for room rental but I'm pretty strapped for cash, and I'm sure most people are, and those things can get expensive. I would go to a meeting in a home if I could get to it by bus and it weren't exceedingly difficult to find (wrapped in a maze of cul-de-sacs and wraparound streets...)

I would buy things from a coffee shop.

I would pitch in as much as I could afford to part with for a room.

And I'd be less likely to attend in a private home. (I'm paranoid.)

Would buy coffee, and end up half living there if I like it.

Would chip in for rent, but be a bit less motivated to come.

Would go to a persons house, if I can find it, and be obliged to bring cookies.

I personally would like of a place where it feels confortable to hanging out, because I noticed that the meetings last year tended to be gatherings of people writing and not much talking.

I agree with LucyQ:

I would buy coffee. I like hanging around in coffee houses.

I would chip in for rent but be less likely to attend. (If I have to drive out on a dark, cold, rainy, night I want comfort and atmosphere.)

I would go to a person's house if it were easy to find and if Lucy brings cookies. :D

I would by coffee/snacks at a coffee shop.

I would pitch in for room rental, provided it wasn't too terribly exensive.

I would not go to someone elses house for writing events.

Yes, I would get something from a coffee shop. Definitely in favor of the coffee shop.

I'm not too keen on going someplace rented without food, doesn't sound all that comfy.

It pretty much depends on whose house it is and how far away it is.

Ditto. Coffee is still cheap.

I would probably buy drinks at a coffee place.

I would most likely not come to meetings held at a generic meeting place (I just don't have the $$ to be spending on ... time? I don't know if that sounds totally rude or not... sorry).

I would probably bring a snack to a person's house, though. And give rides from downtown!

My buying of snacks/drinks would depend on my finances at any particular time during the month.

I wouldn't rent a place or whatever.

I might go to someone's house depending on where it was. I might leave early depending on how it was kept.

I would most likely never go to someone's house unless I already knew them well -- I always feel off.

My vote is for coffee shops and yes I would buy coffee from them.

And I would not want to put money for paying for a space.

I would go to a coffeeshop and totally buy stuff (who doesn't love coffee?)

I would chip in for a rented space but that doesn't sound like much fun

I would go to someone's house if I could get there via bus and it weren't sketchy/creepy though there isn't a way to guarantee that prior to arriving

So yeah, any of that is fine, I guess

I'm cool with any of these options, and you know I'm not going to make other people pay my way. ;)

Also cool with any of these options. And hey, I've been going to the Black Drop most Wednesdays for the last year, all because NaNoWriMo got me hooked on it.

Would buy coffee/snacks.

Less likely to want to rent a room. (too many free spaces)

Less likely to attend at a private house (my stupid cat/dog/anythingcuteandfurry allergies make it risky to go where there might be animals).

I would buy from a coffee shop... what's the fun of being there without the snacks and beverages?

I would pitch in for a rental, but may not attend depending on the venue...

I am ok with going to people's houses or having one at mine (though I have furry pets)

Yes- I would purchase items - whoo hoo caffeine!
Yes- I would help on rent although less motivation to attend (I live over 45 min from Bellingham)
No- spending more time trying to "characterize" owner- you see Watson but you do not observe.

Most definitely would buy from a coffee shop - budget permitting.
Not a big fan of the idea of renting a room.
Could be up for going to someone's house - all depends on my mood at the time of invite.
