The other was more of a welcome thread that was becoming an intro thread, so here's a real introduction one :)
I'd like to get to know a little more about each of you. And, this will sound weird, but I'd like to know at least sorta where you live--it'll help me plan get-togethers and write-ins and stuff. If everyone lives in S. Ogden, then I'll happily drive down there, otherwise, I'm gonna be pushing for things a little further north :)
I guess I'll start:
My name is Candice, I'm a twenty year old WSU student. I have two jobs--waitressing at Ye Lion's Den, and I work as a transporter at McKayDee (love the transporting job. I just push people around in beds and wheelchairs, and if there's no one to push, i get to play video games on my computer. I mean work on my novel. Right....my novel...) I actually live up in Pleasant View...you take Washington till it ends then keep going. I need to move to S. Ogden. That's where everything is :P I'm the oldest of four kids, and still living at home.My little sister is 16 (and doesn't have a car to drive. Neener. We junked the one she was going to XD) and my little brothers are 11 and 4. Hm...I like Heroes, and webcomics (LFG=win), and fantasy and sci-fi, and historical fiction--ok, so I'm a bibliophile. I love reading, even the little pamphlets in the doctors office. XP I also love reading and critiquing other people's stuff (so sorry pillywiggin! I had your stuff, but LIFE got in the way!!!!). I actually almost like it better than my own stuff. I'm a big-time fangirl, and become easily obsessed. I like to draw, but don't do it often, and not very well. I like to quote things, particularly Abridged series, and dislike horror movies(unless I'm in a group), but l like to read it. :D My favorite color is purple but I...don't think I actually own any purple clothes. Hmm...I'm Mormon, but not super conservative or crazy. Although i am trying to break my 'addiction' to caffeine...though that's more so I can actually get some sleep at night...and I might give up and wait til November's over for that :) My favorite book/character/movie/show tends to change weekly. And occasionally daily or hourly, so I'm not going to get into that much. Currently, my favorite book is Lies of Locke Lamora, my favorite charcter is Richard from the webcomic Looking For Group, my favorite movie is Pirates of the Carribean, and my favorite show is Heroes. But like I said, gimme a day or two. It depends on what sort of 'kick' I'm on. Last week my favorite character was Tinker Bell...

Screw plot. I'll just write 50000 words of SMUT!

Hello.
My name is Amber. I an 24 and a senior at Weber, hoping to graduate in December. I am originally from a small town in Wyoming. I have tried nano two other years, last year making it up to 13,000 words. This year I am attempting to do 2 books, a young adult and an adult. I will have homework, but not work because I recently quit my job. Though one weekend in november I will be at Whitman judging a policy debate tournament, but will have my computer with me since I flow on it and in rounds I am not judging I can be writing.
I am also on a writing website, Writing.com, and go by Dawn or Dawn Embers, though some call me Panda (long story).
That's all I can really thing of to say right now.

Okay then, I apparently missed this thread because my eyes don't work too well at seven in the morning.
My name's Bree - short for Briana, but you don't want to know what sorts of trouble one can get in if one does not spell one's nickname phonetically. I'm a twenty-one year old freshman at Weber and I just started this semester, moving up from Salt Lake to do so. I live in Promontory Tower for the time being, and as such my time is filled with all sorts of silly freshmen debacles I'd rather not take part in. (The haunted house is mandatory this year. Wow, guys.)
So I'm unfamiliar with the Ogden scene and unfamiliar with all of you, but this'll be my fourth NaNo and my second win. I hope the community here is really active, because that's about three fourths of the fun.
I'm a classic lit kind of girl, but this year I'll be delving into that darkest of genres - pop fiction. There's nothing I like so well as a good dystopia and my all-time favorite piece by anyone ever is The Time Traveler's Wife, because I am a sucker for unusual romance.
Also, I hate Twilight. A lot.
And.. I think that's about it for me.

I'm Jim, and I'm a faculty member at Weber State. I have participated in, and "won", NaNo three years in a row, since moving to Ogden: 2005, 2006, and 2007. The 2006 NaNovel, Infectious Beauty, is out to prospective agents now. It's sort of a medical thriller about a woman who is beautiful, but dumb and not nice, who contracts a virus that makes her ugly and smart and a damn sight better human being than she was before. Here's the Official Hook:
===================================================================================
How would you react if given the chance to exchange beauty for brains? What if the trade were forced upon you without you having any choice in the matter? Unfortunately for her, Jennifer Blake was forced to make that trade. An escaped laboratory virus expands her brain and her consciousness but takes away her beauty, which had given her effortless control over men. As her life spins out of control, so do events in the lab that created the virus. Jennifer must fight to reconstruct her world as her brain reconstructs itself. Before, she had no use for other women; now, her survival depends on a new set of alliances. If she plays this losing hand just right, she might even turn her misfortune into a second chance for the father she loves. Meanwhile, researchers struggle to unlock the potential of a virus that has the capacity to maim but also to cure. Infectious Beauty explores the realms of psychology and neuroscience, revealing the inner confines of the brain research laboratory and the inner confusion in the brain of a 32-year-old woman who is in the process of being reborn.
===================================================================================
The 2007 NaNovel is, well, moribund. It has much to recommend it, but before anyone else sees it, it needs a lot of work and I'm not at all certain it's worth it.
If I do 2008, it'll be what my writing buddy calls a "pre-apocalyptic" novel, a world that is teetering on the edge of being a dystopia. I'm calling it Red in Tooth and Claw but that has been used, so I'll have to change it. Using the "Snowflake" method (thanks for that, Candace!), here's a one-sentence description:
A guy out for his morning run finds a slip of paper with his wife's cell phone number written on it. When he gets home, he finds his wife murdered.
I would love to participate in write-ins and group activities. We have everything we need for a successful writing community: a few of us know each other by sight, we have a gorgeous and smart ML, and we have Briana to cheer us on.

My name is Justin. I just turned 34, and I have wanted to get my story out of my head now for several years. I figured it was finally time to sign up for NaNoWriMo and try to put a fork in it. I'm a huge basketball fan (Utah Jazz), so November is going to be tough for me, but I am committed.
My novel is fantasy, and this is my first book. So, I am sure I have a lot to learn.
I look forward to meeting you all.

Hey! :D
I'm Andrea, I'm 20, I live in the Ogden area and am a freshman at Weber. I'm majoring in Psych and I have no idea what sort of job I plan to eventually go into. ;-) Right now I work for a credit union, which is somewhat boring, but nice.
I am a complete nerd, and proud of it. :D I am addicted to chocolate in any form, lipgloss, and Dr Who (which, if you haven't seen it, you MUST!!!!). I go crazy over comic book movies, I'm horrible at Math, my favorite colors are brown and blue, I dislike the Twilight series and their creator, I like to read, I suck at writing, but I am hoping this can be a way to help improve...
I honestly am not entirely sure what I've gotten myself into by signing up. My friend started and said I should and I am easily swayed by what he tells me to do, and the next thing I knew, I had signed up.
I don't really have any sort of idea of what I'm writing yet...I think that's bad. Is that bad? I know there's going to be a meatball involved somewhere...some character is going to hate meatballs. Don't ask. :p

My name is Avery, 21, and I'm a recently graduated LMT and find myself with enormous amounts of free time. I work full time, but no having school too... I don't know what to do with myself! I'm a bit of an adventurer, I've done a little bit of everything (SCUBA, skydiving, rock climbing) and somehow am still alive. I do love myself some nerdy things though. In particular, I'd recommend googling "Dr. Horrible", It's free on the interwebs! Other than that and House M.D. I don't watch much TV. Despite my excitement for Nano, I have no idea what I'm going to write. I'm sitting on 20 or so story concepts that I haven't touched yet, so it'll be one of those. Maybe. I'm really bad at the whole "finishing" thing.

@Amber--I remember you from last year! Good luck with doing 2 this year. are they both shorter, or are you just reaching for 100k?
@Bree--naw, you didn't miss it. The thread was made around 11-ish in the morning :) Welcome to Ogden. (And I'm glad to find another Twilight hater. My little sister is obsessed, and rants about it nonstop. And then there's me, who's favorite parts were when Bella tried to kill herself XD)
@Jim--does it matter if the title's been used? I mean, REALLY? XD And it's kinda neat to see someone actually able to use the Snowflake Method, seeing as my attempts are made of epic fail.
@Justin--so this is your first year? Neat.
@Andrea--it's ok not to know. :) ...a meatball? Oh well, anything to up the wordcount, yeah?
@Avery--Dr Horrible=EPIC WIN! I just barely learned about it and have fallen in love ;)
Everyone sounds way interesting, I can't wait to meet all of you :)

NewWho, I believe...I have only seen seasons 1, 2, and part of 3 from the newer stuff, starting with the Eccleston stuff. Goodness, both doctors are drool-worthy! *swoon*
:D Yep! And also, just the thought of a meatball amuses me for some reason.

100 K or at least that is the goal. One is an YA kind of type and the other is very adult. Last year I only made 13000, so I figured this year I'd challenge myself and this way maybe I can at least get 50,000 minimum on one.

Anyone else from Ogden going to go?
If the spirit moves you to make a donation (even a small one), it goes to the Office of Letters and Light, the organization that sponsors NaNoWriMo.

There is no way I could travel for something like that. I have to do deductive logic this month, tests and all. If I don't pass I don't graduate.
The only traveling I'm doing in November is around the 22nd, and that is for Whitman. Debate tournament, and I get paid to do that.

Hello Ogdenites!
I'm Eric, 28, and I live in North Ogden. This will be my fifth year participating, and my first year winning.
My 2007 novel was stillborn, since November was full of the woe and pain associated with divorce and custody battles, fighting with the ex and the ex-in-laws in turn.
My 2006 novel, Millions, was my best effort and greatest attempt, peaking at about 16,000 words before the world got in the way. It was the month before I wrote Millions that I told my wife I wanted a divorce, and the novel was a wonderful escape from having to go to bed...
And 2005 and 2004 were sad little bits that never it made it past 5,000 or so words. I think they're still on the harddrive, though.
I don't go to WSU. That seems to make me unique in this party, so I thought I'd mention it. I work full time for the IRS, and will be doing my noveling in the wee, wee hours of the morning between 1:30am, when I get off work, and 6:30am, when I help my stepson-to-be get ready for Kindergarten and get him on the bus. Which is, of course, the time I should be sleeping. (-;
This years novel, and it scares me to admit this on October 27th, is as yet unannounced. Something will gel, though, between the three or four ideas bouncing around in my head.
So if you should happen to be in North Ogden and smell strong Folgers coffee brewing fresh at an unholy 2am, that's me. (-:

Hey,
My name is Sherry, 38, and I live in Ogden. I work at HAFB. This will be my second year in NaNo, but my first time being involved in a Region. I didn't achieve the 50,000 last year, but this year I will. I have signed up for a 30 day parternship with my french coffee press. With work, my recently dedicated workout schedule (go Power 90) and wrangling a teenager, coffee will indeed be my friend. I have been addicted to J.D. Robb's detective series for the past year, but I also love anything related to vampires, horror, oh and can't forget smut (Candice, love your tag line!). I love all types of movies, Scream being my favorite trilogy. Love a good vampire flick (not many out there). Favorite color is blue. Love to listen to anything the ZBS foundation has to offer. Meatball Fulton has a great imagination. And to quote one of the characters, "Catch you on the flipside."

Hi there,
I'm Kris and I'm 43. I graduated from Weber back when it was a college, in 1988 with a nearly useless degree in Medieval History. So instead I work with handicapped children with Ogden School District. I'm horribly shy until I get to know people then I turn on my warped sense of humor and either amuse or piss off. I'm the mother of a soon to be teen aged son who is the
nightmarelove of my life... after my laptop.I live in downtown Ogden in a 110 year old house with a tempermental plumbing system. I love cats, dogs, yaoi and long walks on the -oh wait wrong profile. HAH!
This is my first try at NaNo but my third book written, the first is so scattered on the net even I don't know all the places its posted. The second is about 5 pages from completion *chants must finish by Saturday* I pretty stoked to try this!
Yorishku!

Lol, I WISH I could go to the Nov. 15th thingy. Unfortunately, all of my money was spent in October. Disneyland at the begining, and this past weekend I went to Anime Banzai in SLC. Can you feel the heat rising off my credit card?
@Eric--Wow, yay optimism! Still not sure what you're doing? Lol, the novel I THOUGHT I was gonna do...apparently I'm not, since I just recently got this awesome idea and am planning on running with it.
@Sherry--HAFB? What do you do? I'm glad you like my sig. :) My friend sent me a piece of flair on facebook (think pogs or buttons, but for the internet) with that saying on it. It made me happy. :) Hey there's lots of vamp flicks...oh, you wanted GOOD ones. Nevermind then. Big question, and I'm assuming you've read at least the first since you said you were a vamp fan: will you be seeing the Twilight movie? Just curious.
@Kris--Medieval History? You can do that? o.O Either amuse or tick off, huh? I think we'll get along great :) Holy Kira, you're a YAOI fan!? ^___________________^ What's your favorite 'ship!? Lol, I was at a con this weekend, and they were selling handbags and messenger bags that said I <3 Yaoi. (and others that looked like the Intel logo, but said 'hentai inside' instead XD) I wanted one SOOO bad, but since I still live with my folks, and my mother was BOUND to inquire as to what the word meant...yeah. No go. Maybe next year. Good luck with your first nano!

I was at the con as well! Had a good laugh over the I love yaoi and the yaoi doujinshi table at a "Family friendly" con. Broke my bank there hahahaha
My favorite ship? Oh, man there are so many! And is it just me or does Vic "Ed likes girls" Mignona get ALL the gay boy roles? I mean Fai is so NOT straight and Ikkaku! Honey he doest housekeeping with Yumichika!
I love Medieval History, such a wild period in Western History! And I'm having a blast researching things I never thought of before like clothing, especially underwear, hosing construction, blacksmithing, water technology and more... besides if I get stuck for wordage I can throw in a treatise on the Medieval Industrial Revolution and away we go! hahahahaha

XD Fai? Straight? Lol, no way in heck. He's too cute with Kuro-pon anyway.
Ah, Vic. He's also Tamaki in Ouran XD And I can not WAIT for that to come out so I can buy it.
You went to the con? Oooh, the doujinshi table...there was a BEAUTIFUL LxLight one I wanted to buy, the back had a BEAUTIFUL preview of them together...and the RoyEd one...but, once again, I will need to move out before I can break my card over such things. Lol, I have YAOI-VISION, and everything gets 'shipped. I even figured out a semi-plausible way to do a RoyEnvy, weird as that souds. (Yes, I love crack pairings. In most cases, they're far funner than canon) And Ed doesn't like girls. The REAL reason he stayed in the other world and destroyed the gate? To get away from Winry. Seriously.
Hey, did you see the Envy and Lust walking around at the con? Or, during closing ceremonies, for the 'anime idol' thingy, the Envy that sang? If so, that was me. Lol, Vic danced during my song. As in, got up and danced with...not sure who. some other person nearby. I think it was Sonny Strait. XD And now I'll look like an idiot if that wasn't who he was with. It was hard to see with all the lights.
We were going to have an anime!Sloth and Greed, but one decided (a week before) that she wasn't coming, and the Greed (also a week before) decided he was going to go as Tuxedo Mask. :P Ok, we knew he was going to be Mask one day, but then he changed his mind on us and decided to go both days as that. -_-; Sailor Moon fanboy...Lol, next year that Lust and I are thinking of doing a Demon!YuusukexYoukoKuramaxHiei cosplay (her as Youko, me as Hiei)...but only if we could find a guy (has to be a guy, or else it's too awkward, methinks, to have all three as girls, espeically cuz I don't swing that way, and he HAS to have the right physical specs. No fat Yuusuke, yeah?) to do a good Yuusuke. If we can't get a Yuusuke, we're probably gonna do a DOrcott (from Petshop of Horrors) one. Lol, this year was my first con and first cosplay, but I don't think I'd ever be my own gender. I like crossplaying :) I can get all my yaoi tendencies out. Well, not all, cuz that's impossible, but lots of 'em. Oh, and did you see the Sephiroth? He was hanging out with his wife(?) and baby most of the time. She was dressed up, and they totally should've put a grey wig on the child. Would've been awesome.
Medieval UNDERWEAR? o.O Well, at least you have lots of the info you already need for your story, sounds like. And you even have a backup plan, nice.

I probably saw you, but I didn't attend the Closing Ceremonies. My son was tired and done with the con at 3:30 ish and so I took him home. As he gets older perhaps his interests will expand beyond the gaming room and Dealer's Room! hahahahaha

Probably a good thing you didn't go to Closing Ceremonies. They went SO FAR OVER. Til, like, 1100 o.O It was ridiculous. If you KNOW you're going over, then CUT SOMETHING OUT. And they kept telling the anime idol contestants 'oh, soon. it's almost your turn'. First, they said we were on in 10. then 45. And 3 hours later...>_< I wanted to watch Mushishi... :( Oh well. Lol, I have no idea where the gaming room was. Didn't go there the whole con. Too busy with other stuff.

I have the first 2 discs of Mushishi and a ton of yaoi... we should do a video and porn night sometime after NaNo ends!
I hate closing ceremonies that drag on forever... Yaoi-con two years ago's closing ceremony went on and on and on... darn near fell asleep in my chair! We'd have had to leave early anyways... I wouldn't have wanted to drive back too tired.
