I'm new and inexperienced and not afraid to show it! Also, for some reason I REALLY like starting new topics XD

But seriously: What are some places y'all would like to meet? I've e-mailed UTA to see if we could play on the FrontRunner or something for a day, and e-mailed the county library about a partnership (and intend to harass the library in person, maybe tomorrow or Thursday), and Grounds for Coffee has been mentioned. Personally I'm not a huge G4C fan, because I don't drink coffee and their hot chocolate tastes funky. Like the hard coating of M&Ms that's been liquefied :P But that's just me.

What is crucial for a meeting? Do you want to differentiate between Write-Ins and Get Togethers/Meet and Greets?

Would you be interested in meeting at, say, the Municipal Gardens? Union Station? Eccles Community Art Center or Ogden Daughters of The Utah Pioneers Museum? Ogden Nature Center? Treehouse Children's Museum? Farr's Icecream? The Mall or the Junction? Eccles Dinosaur Park?

Ok, so some of them I was just naming because I could, but you get the idea. Do you want more of a central location, or several? Heck, even McDonald's is an option--they have wireless, food and plenty of outlets, along with late hours. And apparently really good coffee. The one by my house has been recently refurbished, and is practically made for nanorimo. A ton of power outlets, and a little private nook. It's kinda weird, actually. Really nice timing....

Any preferences? If there's a place you'd like to go, I'd prefer to bug them ahead of time, rather than the day of. :) And any preferences on WHEN you want to get together, or when you're available to do so would be appreciated. And I'm hoping to have a calendar more or less ready by the end of October, so everyone can see what's being planned. Hopefully I can get that up.

Obviously not everyone can be accommodated, but hopefully everyone will at least be able to attend at least a few of the events :)

Thanks!

Screw plot. I'll just write 50000 words of SMUT!

I think we should have a write-in or get-together at Farr's, personally, but that's just because I adore ice cream.

A write-in probably wouldn't actually work at Farr's, as they don't have any electrical outlets we can use. The store itself can only seat 18. It may work as a get-together sort of thing, but not for write-ins.

And for me, an ice cream place would be torture cause i can no longer have the good stuff because now I am allergic to dairy.

Personally, I like Grounds, but that is just me. I am there now in fact, cause I don't have internet at home.
Have you tried tea, chai, or fruit drinks?
I would say Got Coffee is good, back when it existed cause the internet was free, no need to purchase anything and the food choices were better, but they went out of business. I was sad.

I do need someplace to plug in my computer, I don't want to be without it.

I'm not really familiar with Ogden or any of its plausible nooks and crannies, but I'll put in a vote for GfC. I've been there a few times already and I dug what I saw.

I'm down with pretty much anything, though, so long as it's easy to get to by bus. The public transit up here sucks, by the way.

I'm up for Farr's, ice cream is awesome for writing...or maybe it just tastes good, either way, it's good. The library also sounds good, we'd probably get more writing done there.

EDIT: I just read that Farr's has no outlets for us. Darn. Oh well, it'd still be good for the occasional meetup =)

I think we need to determine how many of us there will be as the size of the group will impact where we meet. Then, I think we need to decide what the meetings will look like as our noise level, and activity will impact where we meet as well.

A good sized library might work, or the eccles center.. The mall, or the junction...

Problem with the eccles is...their rooms are for BIG groups. I'll be surprised if I can get twenty people together -_-; It would be nice, because some of the rooms seem practically MADE for us. I guess I'll see if I can't get them to sponsor us.
Not actually sure where we could meet at the Junction or the mall. Do they HAVE electrical outlets or a place to meet. I know the Mega-thingy (Megaplex) has a big food court thingy, but that's about it. Don't know how suitable it would be. I guess I could check it out tomorrow between class and work.

Also, I'd like to know what TIMES would be good for everybody. Even if I get a super special awesomet place ready, it doesn't do any good if everyone is at work, or babysiting their neighbor's cat or something :)

I should be able to meet on Mondays, Wed, and Fridays after 7 PM, and just about any time on Saturday.

Thanks

I'm good anytime except for Mondays and Wednesdays. Even then I can make an exception for Wednesday so just anything besides Mondays would be great.

I'm good most weekday afternoons, but it depends on when I work. I usually get off work at either 11 am or 4 pm, so there's a good chance I'll be free after 11 am most weekdays. I'm free Saturday afternoons, after 1 pm. I'm free all day Sundays.

My afternoons tend to be very, very free, since I only have morning classes. So.. anytime after two or so is good for me. I can't stay out too late, though - gotta be able to hop the last bus back ifyouknowwhatI'msayin'.

Hey, okay, here's a thought that's probably already occurred, but have we considered using The Pie as a kickoff? (Do we even do kickoffs here?) They were always really accommodating to both our size and noise level in SLC, and the food is way cheap if everyone kicks in a few bucks.

I have been boycotting The Pie ever since a nasty little run-in with management there, but if that's what the group decides, I would be fine with it. If that's what you decide to do, I would miss the kickoff, but I'm sure I'll be attending write-ins.

What day / time do we seem to be targeting now for our first meeting?

What does a normal meeting agenda look like?

What does a write-in meeting agenda look like?

I'm excited...

I will say this...

I don't plan to go to Salt Lake. I only go when absolutely have to because I get lost there way too easily. I'd rather stick to meeting in Ogden.

I don't think it's unreasonable to stay away from the Pie if you have an issue with it, no worries. :] It IS getting down to the wire, though, SGG - do we know what we're doing for a kickoff? Like, when or where? Ten days isn't much time to throw it together/give everyone notice.

The only reason for going down to SLC was cuz I thought it'd be fun to write while playing on the train. :) No need to really get OFF in SLC, just keep riding and writing. :) Anyway, I've got the Kick-Off planned, and by Sunday at the LATEST I should have the schedule at least up until the 15th figured out and posted. I'm thinking two nights, Thursday and Friday, so everyone has the option of going to one or the other. Or Monday and Thursday. One of the two.

Well on saturdays I'm going to be joining the Salt Lake write-ins since I have rehearsals at the U, for the same reason I'll probably be going to their kick-off. By the time I got to it it there would probably be about an hour left. But in the evenings I'd love to join in. Honestly McDucks sounds great to me, though I really like the earl grey tea at G4C.
