I figure it's never too early, right?

From what I've been hearing, previous write-ins have mainly been held at Caribou Coffee on Franklin St; they're open fairly late (at least 11, I believe), have free wifi, plenty of seating, and good coffee. Anyone have other places they'd like to meet?

Personally, weekends are always best for me when it comes to meeting. MWF before 2 or after 6 is also good. How bout y'all? Hopefully we can find some time when most of us can get together...

Yay for write-ins! Weekdays I'm stuck at work in the afternoon. Weekends are best for me probably until 7pm or 8pm. The Caribou Coffee we're talking about is the one on West Franklin St. right? I get a little confused about where things are still. XD As for other places to meet, I can't really think of places that have enough seating really, but I'm definitely open to any suggestions anyone might have.

Hiya, folks!!!!

Yeap, in the past we've done write-ins mostly at the Caribou on West Franklin....not only does it a have lots of seating and such, it's also really accessible to people both on and off campus. And there's nearby parking :)

We've also done write-ins around Weaver Street and at the Caribou on EAST franklin. And for students, we did a lot of write-ins in the Union Gallery.

Weekends (especially saturdays) are really good for me. and MWF before 2 is actually really good to.

Something I'd love for Chapel Hill to keep in mind is that two people can totally have a write-in together. And we have write-ins on our own without MLs. ;)

Sounds good. That's great that there's nearby parking. It'll make things easier for me (and I'm sure for other people as well). Saturdays are excellent for me and it sounds like it is for other people too.

Yup, Saturdays are good for me, as well as weekday evenings. I work until 5, and probably wouldn't ever be able to get anywhere until like 8-ish. My vote is for the Caribou on East Franklin, mostly because it has free parking and main Franklin Street is always a zoo. Also, for smaller meet ups, my absolute favorite place to write in town is at That Coffee Place, which is at the intersection of MLK and Homestead. Free wireless, delicious coffee, plenty of outlets for laptops, and a big old window to stare out of when inspiration is needed. They're not open late though, so that would be a good weekend place. I can be found there most Sundays.

Yay, this is going to be fun!

Weekday evenings are iffy for me as I'm usually exhausted from work, but weekends are good. That Coffee Place would be excellent for me as that's closer by. I could definitely go there on the weekend. :)

My roommate (who also NaNos) and I used to go to Foster's Market on Sundays to knit -- there's a chance that the both of us or just me might start NaNoing there on Sundays in November. If we're going to go, I'll make sure to give a shout-out on the forum! I'll probably be found at Caribou on W.Franklin (the one by TJ's and the Yogurt Pump) on Friday mornings from 9-ish to right before noon every week -- I'll be the gal with the brown hair, glasses, and MacBook, probably up on that loft-y part in the back. Feel free to come NaNo with me, 'cause I know I'd love the company!

Looks like it'll be google calendar. Just search google calendar, and it should be one of the first links to pop up. Then type in Chapel Hill Nanowrimo events. Unfortunately it looks like I'm only going to be able to get to the weekend ones as I'll have work on Thursdays. :/

3 Cups in Eastgate should be open by next week. I would like it better than Caribou because it's locally owned and there's more parking. It's on a couple of bus routes, too. Caribou is fine, though.

I don't know what its evening hours are like and it didn't used to have WiFi; but the coffee is very, very good.

Can we do a mini Write-A-Thon on November 15? In the spirit of connection to the big San Francisco event? Maybe have an online link with participants in SF or hourly updates? Maybe do it tag team, where we try to cover X hours (combining individual group times) or try to write X words (again combining individual wordcounts) -- we could aim for 50,000 cumulative words or 26,200 like the mileage of a marathon. We wouldn't all have to be at the local write-a-thon site all the time, but maybe there could always be one of us.

That sounds pretty cool heha. :) Since it's a Saturday that'll work very well for me. I think maybe 26,200 or something like that might be easier to do, but maybe we could see where everyone is at the time (or closer to the date) and decide then? Although I hope I'll be on track.

I work at the Caribou on Franklin St, so I would recommend write-ins there at any time. If we show up in force several times, I will be able to talk my manager into giving out drinks and coupons.

I'd love to see write-ins at Foster's....largely because I work there, and could at least say hi, even if I happen to be working. :)

I can't say when would be good for me, because my schedule has been all over the map lately. I plan on making as many of the write-ins as I can. However, I've lived here since July and keep saying I'm going to make the SnB at the Open Eye and have yet to do that (I crochet and am teaching myself how to knit).

I currently work weekends, so I'd probably miss the first few write ins, but my schedule is set up to change for weekends off. Finally!

I'm probably going to be at Caribou this afternoon around 2 (West Franklin). I'm the one with short black hair and bangs, wearing a brown shirt with a cardigan and jeans. White Macbook.

See you there, maybe?

I'm so glad I remembered Nanowrimo this year! I forgot about it over the past few days with Halloween, etc.

I don't think I can make any write-in's today, but I'll try to catch the one tomorrow! Hope everyone's writing is going well!

I'm off Monday! *turns cartwheels*

Anyone wanna do a write-in? Preferably one that is bus line or walking friendly from MLK?

Anyone want to do one tomorrow? I'm off and would love to do something at somewhere other than where I work!

A couple people asked yesterday, so I thought I'd chime in that I'm down to get some words in some time after 3 PM. The Caribou on West Franklin is most convenient for me but if there's a bus there I can get there. Hopefully seeing other people be industrious will help me catch up.

Hey all Hope folks are planning on going to the write-in today! I have a confession - I'm horribly behind, but I don't care. I'm going to try to catch up over the next couple days! Don't give up!

I might come to the write-in tonight. I'll be a bit late though since work ends at 7pm. I'll try to get out quickly though. It shouldn't take too long to get there.

I can't make it to the write in at Caribou today (I have class at 6 and it's too far to walk), but I will be hanging out in the SILS library from 5 till 5:55, if anyone wants to join me!

ETA: Actually, now that I look at the schedule, I can't go to *any* of the write ins! Buses don't run on Sundays and I have class on Thursdays. Would anyone be interested in doing informal write ins at Caribou on Saturdays?

I hope to be there. Do we have a high sign, or a password, or something? I'll be the one with a lap top and a glazed expression.

Thanks!

Last time there was a sign inside, so I suppose just look for a sign or a bunch of people at a table with laptops. :) That's what I'm going to do.
