Yay, Nanowrimo warmup season has officially begun!

Does anybody want to have a meet at Williams or some other congenial spot to prepare and socialize?

Yes! Now that my fall has settled down, I am up for this. Saturdays before 3? Sundays? Tuesday evenings? Anybody?

Okay, how about this coming Saturday at noon? It's the long weekend, so some people might be out of town, but still why not try? Williams on the pier? (That's north of James and Burlington, for anybody who hasn't been there before.)

I'm available pretty much all day, every day. How about this Saturday? Maybe not by the pier, though- it's bound to be chilly down there.

Okay, then where else? The Williams out next to McMaster? Cafe Daneva up on the mountain??

I can make Saturday at noon! - Williams out by Mac works for me, although I would note that the one at the pier isn't cold...coz it's indoors.

True, but we'll leave that for another time. The last several get-togethers have been down by the harbour, after all.

Tomorrow at noon, Williams coffee pub across from McMaster - I shall be there or turn into a square! ;)

That's 1309 Main street West - http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=williams+coff...

Fair enough! I'll see you and anyone else who's up for a little writing at the Williams by Mac @ noon (or thereabouts!)!

It was great talking Nano ideas with you on Saturday, Elizabeth. Do you want to go back to the pier for next weekend?

I love Cafe Daneva! <33
It's right up near my Dad's house, and when I went for a semester at Hill Park, I'd go there three times a week in the morning for something. Delicious. And they're very friendly!

Oh! And fair trade coffee is also a plus. =]

Hey!

That was awfully fun! I was even inspired to have a productive writing week and finish off one of the many loose ends I'm trying to finish before November 1!

Alisarose's recommendation has me darned curious about Cafe Daneva, although I do enjoy the pier. Doesn't matter to me where we go, so long as we go!

Saturday is starting to look packed out for me, unless you want to go earlier in the day (something ungodly like 10am...*shivers*). Can you make it Sunday @ noonish? If not, I suppose I could peel myself out of bed a little earlier in the day.

Hi, there. Sorry I couldn't make it out last week, but I had a bit of a flu and didn't think infecting all the Hamilton NaNos would make the best first impression.

Any plans for other warm-ups before the big event?

Hi djw.

I called the number I found for Cafe Daneva online to make sure it would be open for noon on Sunday, and got a 'number not in service' message! =-o I think it's unlikely to have closed down, probably just hasn't gotten its new number out there, but I think it's probably better to make the Williams by the pier our choice for this weekend - Sunday at around noon.

Does anybody need directions there? You just head north from Hughson and Guise (about a block north of Burlington street.)

Too bad about Daneva! Thanks for accommodating me on the time. See you Sunday at noon at Williams on the pier!

I found a really easy way to get to the williams by McMaster. So when is the next write-in?

We'd love to have you, Marylin. So far, we've mostly been talking about our ideas for Nanowrimo this year, writing on other projects that we're trying to finish before October 31st, discussing favorite books and tv shows, having snacks, and so on. I've been working on filling out my '100 questions' list for my main character and sharing the funniest answers I come up with out loud. So that's the sort of thing that you can expect I think.

Anybody have preferences for when and where the next warmup should be? This coming Saturday, maybe - we could try the Starbucks on the mountain that Welestra mentioned, or just stay at the pier.

I posted it in the regional lounge thread for 'Useful resources' - http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/node/3277384 , and in Helpful orgs and sites.

Someone mentioned that geocities is closing down forever very soon, so I'll save a copy of the file and post it on my own space too.

Possible locale for this week's meetup?

TristanPEJ wrote:

Might I suggest Saturday at noon?

P.S. This'll be the last weekend for the warmup write-ins before the kickoff party! Woo!

Whoa - hadn't thought of that! =-o

Accept your suggestion for the time and place - see you there, then - the williams by McMaster.

Update - I went off to scout Daneva this afternoon. It's still in business, but if we want to have a get-together there I suggest we make it some Saturday afternoon.

They're not open on Sundays anymore, and the rest of the week the cafe is closed at 5pm. Still looks like a great place to gather though.

I'm heading to Williams at the pier tonight, Thursday, at 5 to work on an outline and sip some chai. If anyone wants to join me, don't be shy. I'll be there until 10.

Cheers,

P.S. On another note: Have we ever pondered the Sky Dragon at 27 King William St as a venue?

I'd have liked to come down, but tonight isn't a good night. :( Maybe we can squeeze in one more pre-kickoff writein next week sometime?

Enjoy your chai and good luck with the outline!

I'm available Friday evening or I could make myself available Tuesday if that's what works for others.

ElizabethTwist and I talked about it while we were at the write-in today, and Tuesday evening seems to work out alright - down by the lake again, starting around 5:30-6:30ish?
