Hi All!
Welcome to a new season of NaNoWriMo in Maryland!
I'm Lee, and this will be my 6th year doing NaNo, and 6th year as ML for Maryland. Joining me is our other wonderful ML Vickie.
We will be here to answer questions, set up useful threads, organize Kick-Offs and Write-Ins and TGIO parties, marshal wonderful Write-In Volunteer Hosts, arrange our calendar, organize challenges and the Maryland Dare, and of course help you all get through a wonderful November.
I know Maryland Wrimos will soon be jumping in here posting regional location threads to let people know where they are and find other Wrimos in our area. Please check to make sure no one has posted about your area first please! We don't need 4 threads for any particular location LOL.
And don't worry, 50K in 30 days is completely doable. Unless you have a life...
So please post an introduction here, let us know about your newbieness or experience with past NaNos, where you are, or anything else you feel like sharing.
And once again, welcome!
Lee, ML, MD

Hey everyone!!
I'm Annie and this is my first NanoWrimo...EVER! I'm a bit excited and very nervous because I'm not sure how busy I'll be in the month of November, as this is my first year of college as well. I'll just have to write like crazy and hope for the best, I suppose!
I'm not a native Marylander, and only lived there for the majority of high school. (I moved from Mississippi). Right now I'm attending college in Missouri but I have Maryland selected as my home region since that's where my family lives. Or something like that. Haha.

Hello, all. Second year doing NaNo :D
Looking forward to write-ins in Columbia and White Marsh this year, and I'd love to see one in Baltimore City.
I'm a little over 7k words into a novel I need need NEED to finish before November 1, and have two novels I want to write cover to cover during November. Going to need all the write-ins I can get.
Annie--I'm not a MD native either; I moved last year from New England. Welcome to the insanity!

Hello!
I live in Baltimore City (Brewer's Hill/Canton) but just moved there. I'm probably going to be more comfortable going to write-ins in the Cockeysville/Timonium area because that's been my stomping ground for the last four years. This is my first time doing this, and I'm pretty excited.
A little about me- I just turned 24, I work for The Baltimore Sun (advertising), I'm usually with my crazy-butt of a dog or doing something crafty like needlepoint or crocheting, but I guess that stuff is going to be put on hold for November.

Hello fellow NaNo-ers!
This will be my fifth year of NaNoWriMo! But it's going to be a much different experience for me this time around. I graduated from Towson University, so I'm no longer a student, and I'm unemployed! So this will be the first year I won't be busy at all during November, which worries me. Being busy makes writing less of a chore and more of an incentive to get other things done, and hardly seems like a problem when I've got a ton of other things I have to do.
However, I am exercising every morning because I need to get in shape for the Army. I'm leaving for basic training in January. So every time I go out running or lifting weights, I'm going to try to keep NaNoWriMo in mind so I can push myself harder.
I'm also going to aim for 75,000 words this year since I won't have a whole lot else to do.
I live in Frederick, MD, and will hopefully be able to get to at least one of the Maryland events this year.
Good luck everyone!

Hi. I've lived in Baltimore as long as I can remember and this is my second NaNo. I'm aiming for finishing before my birthday, like last year (25th). Unlike last year though, I'll probably be working through November, so I'll probably be getting a lot less sleep this year. Oh well, like they say, sleep is for December.

Hello everyone,
My name is Marissa. I am 25 years old and I am orginially from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area, but now currently living in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia by Hagerstown Maryland. Hello, all! This is my third year doing NaNo ... I hope I win this year! :P I'm a freshman in college (finally) in College Park, MD - I hope to see bunches of DC/Metro area NaNoers this month and next! :D Luckily, it looks like my HW load isn't too bad ... all I'll really have to do is stop goofing off on the Internet (*all* I have to do. Ha).

Hello all! I'm Becca.
I'm sixteen and currently living in North East, Maryland. This is my second year participating in NaNoWriMo, but this year I'd like to acutally FINISH a novel. Last year's story made it to chapter two before life got in the way and took over my free time.
Anyway, I suppose it's time to start brainstorming!
See you all in the month (well, two months. lol) to come!

Hey guys!
My name's Heather and this is my fourth year doing Nano. I managed to squeak by with a win last year, so I'm going to try to make it a streak. I live in Westminster, up here in Carroll County. (I spy you Niki! Hi!) Hopefully we'll be able to organize some more write ins this year for ya'll in our area.
I can't wait to get things kicked off! I'll be lurking here in the forums all month long. I'm trying to piece a plot idea together before November.

Hi Everyone!
This is my fourth year attempting Nanowrimo. Hopefully this is the year I finish. Going to be tough though, I have a baby this year!
I am 34 yo and live in Odenton MD in Anne Arundel County. My dream since I was a kid was to make a living writing Novels.
That didn't happen, but Nanowrimo inspires me to keep trying.
Looking forward to November.

Howdy, all! I live in Baltimore, in a weird little Venn diagram where Hampden, Charles Village, and Roland Park all meet. Never done NaNo before, so I hope I make it to the finish line. I'm in grad school, where I also work, so my availability for write-ins will be touch-and-go. Still, it's good to have so many locals, relatively speaking, attempting this same crazy thing along with me.

Hey all! Good to see all the new faces and all the returning faces! I'm Megan, and I'm in Silver Spring. Been here 2 years now. This is my...fifth year doing NaNo, and I've won 3 of the 4 years I've participated so far. That other year... well, law school finals and NaNo just didn't mix. This is the first time I've come in with absolutely no idea what to write, but that makes it all the more exciting.

Hi! I'm so glad I'm in Maryland now, since I don't think Bangladesh would have been a good place to find other people doing NaNoWriMo!! Anyway, I'm 18 and I'm a freshman at UMBC in Baltimore County - I've never lived in Maryland before now though, so I'm kind of a newbie in more ways than one - this is my first year doing NaNoWriMo too. I'm soo excited though, I can't wait - I've been writing since I knew how, so this is really awesome and I'm just super super excited - lol can you tell? I'm not worried about finding the time to do it, since I seem to have more time now in college than I did in high school, I'm more worried about just trying to keep myself focused on the same story for a whole month!
Nice to meet you all!!

I'm here! Last year I was a rebel and added to my then-WIP. I had horrible migraines the whole month and my dad was recovering from a serious accident (he's fine now), so I considered it a success to add about 20,000 words. That book is currently seeking an agent.
I'm not sure what I'm doing this year. Again, I'm in the middle of a WIP, but it doesn't need another 50,000 words and I'd like to finish it by the end of October. I just came up with an idea for a standalone, so I may actually try to legitimately NaNo this year.

Hello! :D I just wanted to drop in and wave. I'm a Nano repeat offender & am very excited about this year's writing challenge. I plan my November around this and have honed a whole system. My husband knows that there's hardly any talking to me until around Thanksgiving & takes it all in stride. This year, I may spend part of November in Philadelphia with mi madre as she may have surgery on her knee but I'll still be writing away.
Best of luck to us all as November approaches & beyond! :D

Hey!
I'm Meredith or Mere, which ever. I'm sixteen and from the Eastern Shore of Maryland - looks like I'm the only one so far. :( I live near the little town of Salisbury, which means I go to a county Farm & Home show instead of a fair and the highlight is 4-H fashion show. Oh, it's tons of fun.
I just got a brand new shiny laptop and am super pumped to bang out 50,000 words or more on this year! Last I barely squeaked by with a win, but I hope to get a decent win this year. :D

Hi.
I'm Mike. It's my first year participating in this novel writing business. I live in Baltimore near Fells Point, but am more than willing to venture out of the city for write-ins. And of course anything within the city limits. I do programming during the daylight hours and then spend most of my free time in locations with tables and coffee, writing freelance. I'm pretty excited for this project because I really have no idea what I'm doing, and I'm curious to see what happens. Nice to meet you.

I'm not sure how well I'm going to do this year, but I really hope I'll at least get a decent amount done.

Heeeey, all you Maryland peoples. Uh, I'm Hilary from Howard. I live in Clarksville now, but I'm originally from PG County. Gooood times there. And by "good" I mean, being a short, pudgy, nerdy, white girl in PG County kind of "good".
This is my first time doing NaNoWriMo, so we'll see how this goes. I've written novels before but I'm very bad at working on them for any consistent length of time, so... Maybe this will help with my discipline. At any rate, it's gonna be tough working around writing college essays!
Wish me luck!

Hey fellow Marylanders! I'm Linda, aka drwasy, and I live in Reisterstown. This is mysecond NaNo; I finished 52k in last year's despite life being topsy turvy. NaNo ended up being what saved me from insanity. Super to see al lthese young folks here.
I'm a prof at the UMB School of Pharmacy, so I write a lot about what I research and teach - drugs, mental health, and all that jazz. This year I'm working on PURE, a novel about academic science run amok. I wrote on PURE last year, but about 1/3 of those words ended up making it into the book; the rest was very helpful prewriting. But words is words... I hope to make my goal of 50k this year, but I have a father who's terminally ill and a mom not that far behind him, so we'll see. I tend to write hard and fast under stress ;^)
Looking forward to shipping the editor on vacation in November. I'll be happy to travel to Owings Mills or Carroll County for write-ins. SOmeone mentioned a coffee shop at the CC mall? For real? is that new?
Peace, Linda

Hi y'all! This is my second NaNoWriMo and I am so glad my friends Chris and Chris got me into it. I'm a UMBC grad who's never left the area for more than a few days and I can't wait for this year's to start. I have multiple stories I would like to polish and rework from my head. I would love to try a write-in as I've never done one before but I am very good at getting on the wrong road so we'll see.
I am also in the process of infecting my Dad with the NaNo bug. Wish me luck!

Hi, Deryn here. But fellow NaNos can call me Spot.
I'm 28 years old but I will turn 29 on Nov 9. This is my second year as a NaNo. I made the deadline last year by only half an hour. But it was worth the effort. My first novel, Stray Kingdom, is on its way to being publishable and now I'm back to bang out the sequel. I live right in the middle of Montgomery County.
I work part-time at a community center and I will try to set up a time every week when NaNos can come and do some writing. Stay tuned for more on that.
Good luck everybody!
