C'mon in and introduce yourself! Don't be shy, we don't bite! Er... at least, most of us don't...

I'm Faith, your ML, and this will be my third year participating and my first year as ML. I won both previous years, and I aim to do the same this year if it kills me! Coffee is my lifeline, and I'm currently working as a freelance writer/editor , which means all my real work will probably be neglected during November in favor of NaNo. Huzzah!

...and yourself?

I'm Kassie, and I'm...well, I'm kind of a roustabout for our region. Leg work, advertising, etc.

This is my...fourth year? I think so, participating in NaNo.

I'm a third year journalism student, and I work odd jobs (City of Brantford, etc) over the summer to support my caffeine addiction. I wish I was kidding, there.

I am a geek of all things horror. So. My default idea every year is zombies. I thought I was prepared to write not zombie stuff this year, but I'm slipping into my old habbits. wheee.

Haaaaa, hello everyone.
I'm known around these parts as Vee... short for Veronika, but everyone messes that up, so feel free to just call me Vee.
I joined NaNo last year and failed miserably!
But now I am determined to win, come what may.
A couple of you might remember me from last year. =D!

Hello there people, My name is Amanda, looking through various posts in this forum I've been mentioned a couple of times by my wonderful roommate Kassie.

This is my fifth NaNo, though I've never won (I'm a little lame like that)

I'm a third year criminology student at WLU and I almost always go with fantasty for NaNo, thats about all I have to say about me.

Yay! Welcome back Kassie, Vee & Amanda! I'm hoping that this year, since we're an *official* region, we'll ALL be able to finish and give the surrounding regions a run for their money... er, okay, maybe monopoly money seeing as how NaNo is free... but with these excellent new regional headers up at the top ^ we can keep track of how Hamilton, KW, and London are doing on their word counts with just a glance... and then BEAT THEM. With words, that is. :D

Hey, folks!

I'm Scott, and I'm from Woodstock. I decided to go with you guys this year since that's what's on the front of my yellow pages. I don't drive so it might be hard for me to make any Write-ins. I guess that's it. hope to see you soon!

Hey Scott, welcome to the group!

Well, we hope you'll be able to get out to at least one write-in with us, but if not, we'll have a pretty busy online community with all the options for staying in touch (as I'm sure you've seen!) to keep you motivated and writing throughout the month. Or, maybe there's a friend you can rope into doing NaNo with you who also drives? Haha.

Either way, glad to have you join us! We're a friendly bunch :)

Names Justin, but I'll probably respond to Negasi easier.

I'm 17, living in wonnnderful Brantford, and this will be my first time trying this.

I generally do a lot more poetry, because I always end up dropping my stories if I don't have goals and what not like NaNo provides :).

Welcome, Nico & Negasi! It's always great to have fresh blood, er I mean fresh victims, er... that's not right... new writers attempting the insanity that is NaNoWriMo!

Never fear, I have full confidence that you'll make it through the month successfully. Do either of you have plots in formation (for your story, not for world domination or anything like that... though if you do have plots for world domination, that might be good to know too) or are you going to try the 'seat-of-your-pants' approach?

I am trying to develop an idea for this novel. I'm about as far as knowing I want it to be in the fantasy genre :P.

*steal intro from other region I'm in, cuz I is lazy* :P

Hi, I'm Rhee, and I'm sixteen years old and live in little old Haldimand County (my mother's a scardie cat and doesn't like me saying more specifically). This will be my second year doing NaNo, and by some insanity I managed to win last year, and just under 60K. Maybe possibly will I be able to convince my parents to bring me out to some write-ins, but it's not a sure thing, since it's about an hour drive to where you guys plan on holding write it, I think.

I live with my mom and dad, my younger brother who will be turning 14 this month, two dogs (both named after Hobbits) and five cats. Oh, and two beta fish, if you want to count those.

I love reading and writing, and have been an avid reader for years now, and writing seriously for at least a couple years.

hmm, yeah, I suppose that about covers it.

Hi, I'm Kiz, and I'm in my fourth year of university taking English (and Comtemporary Studies! Yea Laurier!)

This is going to be my fifth nano, although I haven't won yet. I can't believe I missed that there was a Brantford community before! I am pleased.

Welcome Rhee and Kiz!

Looking forward to meeting you both online/in reality (whichever works for you!). Rhee, too bad you're so far away, but we'll have plenty of ways to keep in touch with the group online!

Kiz -- Yay, more Laurier! I'm a Laurier grad also, but the Waterloo campus. Good times, good times...

Good luck with planning both your novels! Either of you have an inkling of your genres/plots at this point? Seems plenty of us are cutting it close to the wire on that... myself included... haha.

Hey all,

I am happy to see there is a Brantford region! dark_phoenix, I believe I remember you from the Waterloo region? I live in Paris and might drop by for a couple of write-ins, although my schedule is pretty packed these days, including a vacation the first week of Nov. I have done nano for a couple of years.

Welcome back edud! Yes, I attended an event or two a few years back, in the Waterloo group. :) Good to have you back with us... hope that vacation doesn't get in the way of your writing! J/K ... actually, a vacation sounds great right about now... and really, November is an excellent month to take time off in!

So, hope to see you around at some write-ins, but if not, at least we have our forum/website/twitter/facebook group. Haha.

We have a pretty wide geographical spread in this group, pretty different from most regions. I'm going to say that's what makes us special. :)

Hey guys!
I'm Alex and I'm a second year english student at Laurier. I enjoy writing but I'm more in the short story writing business, so this should be interesting. I've never attempted nanowrimo before, but have wanted to for a while :)

Good luck everyone !

Hi Alex, welcome to the group! It's exciting to have someone who specializes in short stories -- I always find them more difficult to write than novels, so I guess I'm in the opposite boat :) Maybe think about your novel as a series of short stories about the same character... with a consistent theme... heehee. You can do it!

Hello everyone! My name is Morgan, but you can essentially call me whatever you'd like. I really don't mind. It's nice to meet you all :3

This'll be my first year doing Nano, and I'm moderately excited. I say moderately because I don't really get excited about anything, so excitement of even a low level really ought to be notable in my case. Hahah. I'm going to go ahead and assume that that was like an indirect admission of weirdness, or something like that. So now you know; I'm a strange cookie ; D

I'll just hope my tendency for procrastination doesn't extend too far into novel - writing. . . rather, I'll hope that I can combat it, considering I'm just about the biggest slacker I know. Well, not really, but I'm definitely pretty high up there.

Could it be possible I have met you before? ;P
Huzzah, and welcome to this riveting month of Nano. (Or at least I assume it will be riveting).
Good luck on your combatting against procrastination, it is a battle we all must fight.

Hi Morgan, welcome aboard! I think you'll probably find that most of us are pretty weird in one way or another (we ARE writers, after all!) so you'll fit in nicely :D

I tend to be a procrastinator as well, but hopefully all the pep talks from the NaNoWriMo Head-Ups, and fun reminders from me, and our super-fantastic write-ins will help you to persevere all the way until the end! You can do it :)

Hi - I am Mary & this is my first year at doing this - It appears I am much older than most of you participating, but that is okay - for the past three years I wrote the short story column for the Brantford Expositor - I also write poetry and novels, but have always procrastinated on completing those novels. I love deadlines because they force one to complete! Looking forward to meeting you on Sunday. Happy writing everyone.

Welcome Karlene and Mary!

Great to have you both on board, it sounds like we have a fantastically diverse group of writers from all walks of life this year... should keep things interesting! :) Looking forward to hopefully meeting both of you on Sunday or at an upcoming write-in.

Only a few hours to go before we can start WRITING!

Hi to all BHN writerly folk!
I live in Dunnville.
Over the years, our town has been passed back and forth between Haldimand and Niagara over the years by the Gvm't powers. While (at the moment haha) I am technically part of Haldimand, it's farther for me to travel to Brantford than to Niagara Falls for write ins... so I will be attending those and, to be fair, I have set them as my home region.

That said, I still feel like I'm part of the BHN group - is it okay if I play online with you folks too?

I joined last year but stumbled the last couple weeks of the month but this year I WILL hit the finish line.
I'm so serious about it that I have put my business on hold ( well most of it anyways) to make sure I "get er done" (yup, thats the Dunnville slogan... can you believe it. ).

Write ON everyone.. Faith is right: we can do this!
:0)

Hey Booksdiva! Welcome to our little corner, even if you're very far away!

Makes sense to me, if you're traveling to Niagara Falls for write-ins... BHN is such a spread-out region that I hope eventually, someday, we'll have enough people participating in this corner of Ontario that each county will be able to have its own events. But we have to start somewhere, right? :) Feel free to chat with us, just ignore the emails or notes I put up here about setting Brantford-Norfolk as your home region, that sort of thing.

You're so fortunate that you're able to slow things down on the business side for the month! I'm more or less doing the same, not that there was much work for me to do these days anyway. Oh well! And it looks like you're already off to a great start this year, so that's a bonus!
