Any NaNoers playing Final Fantasy XI? I can't be the only one, right?

FF11 player reporting. :) Doing my seventh year of Nano, in game I do this and that, although my main is 42 RDM. I duo with a friend (she does Nano too btw, although not sure if she lurks the forums as much as I do) and we take it slow, so I have more familiarity with the game than might be judged on the level alone.
And FF14, oh yeah. Looking forward to that one, definitely! Although still intending on playing FF11 too.

Bah, level doesn't matter... it took me three years to hit 75 on my first job, and I know people who are taking it really slow as well. (I hit Cooking 100 way, way before then...) Let's not talk about my second 75 (Scholar), though... Let's just say I'm completely obsessed with it.

I'm interested in FF14, but I'm totally not ready for it. My shell is doing CoP now, and there's so much I want to do!

I had this crazy idea for a Harry Potter/FFXI cross over with Draco Malfoy botching up Disaperating and showing up in Rivernse - Site #B01 knocked out.
(and I can see the moderators looking at me and thinking: she's nuts!)

Anyways...that was one idea I was kicking around for Nano this year.
Has anyone else thought to use the world of Vana'Diel as their canvas to write in/on?

I usually base my NaNo novels off RPing I've done in the last year, but I've mostly been playing FFXI... so that's what I'm writing about! I have enough background on Darian and Ithan-Yuran that I could probably make it to 50k words without too much trouble (I hope...).

That HP/FF11 crossover sounds interesting. :)

I'm writing based off of my RP too. Or to be more exact, I'm writing about the current/recently past stuff that I haven't yet managed to catch up on in the RP (in addition to the actual RP we have a lot of things on the side, like journals and what have you) and the rest will be about the non-RP'd life of my characters. I did this last year too, was plenty fun. Although I didn't manage to break 50k since I pretty much just barged in without planning anything. This year though I have plenty of notes so it should be good.

I'm a sort-of FFXI player :) I've been playing on and off since the US release, but I tend to take year-long breaks, and I'm currently on one of those... I'm not sure if I'll go back to Vanadiel or not. I do miss my little taru...

My nano last year was an FF inspired rpg-style story, but I think I'm going with something completely different this year. We'll see come November ^^;

Me too! Me too! I play~!

Er, well, Jami (Shenya up there) lugged me in here to reply. XD I'm the aforementioned duoing and RPing friend, so I'll be doing my character's side of the story. And, apparently, my character's mother's weird adventures to fill up word count. *coughs*

Whoo, another player!

I think I'm going to shift my focus for this story... I got so enthralled by the Scholar plotline that I'm going to write an "after the fact" story... I feel bad that I'm writing fanfiction, but MAYBE this'll get it out of my system.

Which server are you two on? I'm on Caitsith, and my main LS is a roleplaying shell.

We're on Midgarsormr. And damn, another Caitsith player. Sometimes I think half the people I meet who play FF11 are on that one. xD We have an RP shell, although despite some attempted lure-ins it's just the two of us. Not that we can't come up with enough story by ourselves, sometimes it'd just be great playing with more RP-people.

Heh, the current events in our RP actually heavily involve the BLU story. Some of the job quests are really inspiring. :)

I play FFXI and have played since NA release. I play on Caitsith and go by the name Remesa. If you send me a /tell in game and I somewhat ignore you it's because my friend also controls my character so don't take offense.

I'm 75 black mage, dragoon and scholar and I live for storyline. I'm kind of just holding out for FF14 and waiting out the storyline to the Wings of the Goddess, because it's so good! If anyone needs help, just send me a /tell and ask :) Unfortunately, the next update happens during NaNoWriMo. =( I'll have to take a WotG storyline break to do the 3 nation quests before I continue writing.

Pardon the thread necro--FFXI 4eva!

BRD WHM RDM SMN75 here, taking time off from FFXI to NaNo FFXI. (I'm a huge geek...)

I'm doing my NaNo on the Age of Adventurers, which is of course starting at the time we're playing (20 years post-Shadow Lord), but my NaNo will be 15-20 years in the future, when Vana'diel's society has changed somewhat. Jeuno is in ruins (due to the events in ZMs), Aht Urhgan is now the dominant political force in the world, the Far Eastern Empire has been conquered, etc. My main character is trying to become the King of the (defunct) Kingdom of Ephramad because he's a somewhat disreputable Corsair ;P

Any other FFXI WriMos feel free to friend me! (And yes I'm totally taking a NaNo break when the update comes out and when Shantotto Ascension goes live, see aforementioned "I'm a geek".)

@Remesa Hello, fellow Caitsith denizen! (I'm Darian. ^^)

@Renalae Awesome story idea! And don't worry about being a geek -- I've been racing to do the Bastok WotG quests because my story focuses on Adelheid, Nicolaus and Erlene, so I've been trying to find as much plot related to them as possible. (Yes, I'm a SCH fangirl, can you tell? Hah.)

@Firecaster: Wow you're current on Bastok's WotG missions? I'm only current on Sandy's despite best efforts ^^;; Can't wait for more WotG content though, I'm pretty addicted.

Heh. Just like I said before, most FF11 people I come across are on Caitsith. Why the heck is it always like this? xD

I haven't haven't heard too much of the WotG story after the early missions/quests, but it looks damn interesting. Can't wait to get started on them. Only lv 45, and while I think we've been picking up pace in leveling (holy..did we just get 3 levels in less than a month? :O Compared to our usual pace, we're just speeding through the levels now) we're not going to get to required levels like this any time soon.
Well, here's to genkai1 and AFs in December. Hopefully. ;)

@Shenya: I have no idea! Caitsith isn't a high pop server or anything... I think we have very little drama, but we do have our fair share of morons. There are also a few (3?) RP shells on there.

@Renalae: By all means! I'd already added you a few days ago... I read the synopsis on your profile and I absolutely love what I'm seeing so far!

The WotG missions and quests are soooo interesting! It's my favorite expansion so far, probably because it links back to the days when I was a wee adventurer braving the scary MMO for the first time. Ah, memories...

Plus I'm a hardcore Volker fangirl and I love that he's pretty prominent in them (you just found out how he got his scar!)

And yeah, to be honest I've never met anyone else from Caitsith except here. Most people are on any other server but this ;)

And hello, Darian. Is that your character name or real name? One of the main characters in my novel is named Darien, but I digress.... hit me up sometime in the game (PS: my other main character is named Lucius and physically modeled after a certain FFXI NPC of the same name ;) )

@Adrammelech: Darian is my character's name, but it's funny how I respond to that name IRL now (despite being the opposite gender!). I'm sure I'll see you in game! (Totally forgot you mentioned your main's name in an earlier post!)

Added you Firecaster! I'm on Quetzalcoatl but if I ever make it over to Caitsith I'll look you up. I also play a male character though I'm a girl in real life, it creates some confusion in my linkshells to be sure!

I'm crying a bit inside because my boss wants me to work next week when I was supposed to have off to work on my NaNo and Shantotto Ascension x.x I'm an addict.

I just quit FFXI a week ago today, actually >< After four and a half years of playing, most of the social shell (PanicMotion) I ran disappeared, quit, or left for greener pastures. I was an officer in a Dyna shell, and that was going well but it ended up me only signing on twice a week for dynamis runs, and I started getting really sick of the game. Which is too bad really cause I enjoyed it while it lasted for me :( I still miss my little Tarutaru D:

I am (well I guess, was lol) Tuatha from Remora server, had 75 PLD, BRD, RDM, WHM, was working on getting DRK up there, I think it got left at 67 or thereabouts. I also had a 2nd account that I 2boxed, Moira, who was a 75 SMN.

Meh, I miss my friends and the adventures and whatever, and I miss having a ton of fun all the time. Maybe I'll end up going back, but for now it seems pretty unlikely.

@Toxictofu, you might just need a break... you sound a lot like I did about three years ago. I ended up taking a two-year break and man was it ever worth it. I did a double-take at your linkshell name, though, because we have an HNMLS on Caitsith called Panicmotion!

Also, Tarutaru PLDs are love.

@Renalae, my husband and I are known as the "mindf*** couple" as we play our opposite gender and we're disturbingly comfortable with it, (LOL) I actually have another friend who plays on Quetz. :)

I'm actually not all that interested in ASA yet, but I haven't done ACP or MKD yet. Due to that aforementioned two-year break, I haven't finished going through CoP yet, so we're doing that before anything else!

Creepy O_o and here I thought I was being original with the name., lol. Yeah, I thought I maybe just needed a break, too, but I'm not sure if by the time I'd had a long enough break it would be worth it to come back since I have a feeling that a lot of people are going to hop on the FFXIV wagon as soon as it comes. *shrug* Though maybe I'll want to go back soon, who knows.

Yes, tarudins = <3 forever :D

Anything taru = <3!! I never played PLD on mine though... I got RDM, WHM, BLM, and DRG up to 75 before I stopped playing. I am now trying to decide if I want to cancel my account or give it to a friend... hmmm

I am/was on the Gilgamesh server - not overly populated but it's the unofficial French server.

Hey there all! I'm glad to see FFers goin' at NaNo! I'm really impressed with some of your Fanfiction ideas too! I could never write a fanfiction for ff though, I don't pay attention to the cut scenes enough. (Usually because my group is rushing me, but all is good, i suppose.)

My favorite plot line was the Aht Urghan one. Though, I'm bias because I love PUP so much!

I have 75 pld, whm, brd, and pup. (68 blm) and I'm a taru! (cuz they're the shit) and I'm on Fenrir. Name is Oprahruru if anyone ever wants to send me a tell.

I still play, though, to tell the truth, I've been thinking about quitting for a longtime now. Anyway, just wanted to say hi and toss my hat in the ring.

<(^.^)>

My friends are all teasing me because my NaNo featured an, um, intimate scene involving a Galka >.>;; Silly characters and the way they make us write them doing things we don't even want to think about!

@Renalae: No love for Elvaan here. They seem so... stuffy. ^^; And if people keep teasing you, tell them that I'm planning on having an intimate scene between two of the dorkiest characters ever (Nicolaus and Adelheid), and that they're going to WISH they'd teased you less about yours. Heh heh heh...

@Firecaster, but Adelheid's adorable! My only issue with her is that one mission where you have to escort her.... I haven't been able to complete it yet.

Do you like my fancy signature banner thing? My friend does great FFXI fanart, so I convinced her to make a cover for my book! She's also a SCH75, maybe I can talk her into doing one for you.

Shantotto went live last night and I ended up spending 2 hours writing instead >.>;; Here I thought I'd put off NaNo for FFXI, but instead it's the other way around....

Galka love scene???

I thought they were Asexual :/ (except for the npc galka women, which don't count)

How taboo of you to do a gay galka love scene ^.~
