Hey, I'm in the Medway area!
I'm planning on printing out some posters for Nano and asking the library, cafes and coffee shops to put them in the window. Hopefully there'll be some interest.

I'm switching between Canterbury and Rainham throughout the term-time, so I might end up bowling into any Medway write-ins that get organised.

Hi

I'm in the Dartford area and just signed up for the very first time.
It sounds impossible to me - a month - but other people do it so why not me? I'm taking an OU creative writing course as well this year so after years of faffing about I'm going to be writing my little fingers to the bone :-)

Get togethers sound good - I might be able to provide a space - but as a newbie I'm not sure how it works...

Hurrah!!

Here's another newbie for the pot. Maidstone and T-Wells are both within reach if anyone fancies a gathering of laptops. Coffee shops, libraries, car-parks, bus-stops - I'm not fussy.

Good luck everyone - this is going to be great!

Hello thar!

Maidstone-ite here! I dont really have access to anything other than public transport on account of epilepsy, but any gatherings I can make it to I'd certainly be interested in.

Can't wait to get started!

I gave a few flyers out to cafes in Chatham today. Just a few, but hopefully we'll get a little bit of interest. I'll give out a few more tomorrow.

as for Maidstone area; I know the Caffe Nero in the town centre might be game (if more than 3 or 4 of us, i will check first!); if there's much more interest for this area, i will start to look into other venues. :)
but a Chatham area meetup would be fine too for me, it's only a bit on the bus!:)

(hopefully more posting will keep up thread up and more people will see it!:))

There's a cafe in Chatham called Latino's that's nice, and we have a Costa here too. Both of those would probably be okay for meet-ups.

I think my post got lost in the forum reset!

So I'm from Tunbridge Wells, but I work in Chelmsford in Essex. Don't have a lot of spare time otherwsie I was going to try and be the ML for my area, also that way we would get our own region set up on here rather than havign to be in 'Elsewhere'!

However if there are any local events going on I will try and make it to them.

I have meant to give this a go for about six years now. This year I finally signed up.

Time to see if I can sit still and focus long enough to actually do what I have always told myself I could.

I'm in Larkfield, and I'm actually a little bit awed by what I have committed myself to.

So how many people would be interested in a meet up? And does anyone have any ideas where it could take place?

it seems to be a healthy number from the Medway area (although I have to be honest, I'm not sure where all "Medway" covers!)
being from Maidstone, I can only look into places here locally... personally, I would be up for a local meeting or one in Medway area (as long as I can get there by bus/train).

And Ashford locals are definitely welcome to this thread too!:)

so, to try to get something organised; who would be up for a meet-up in Maidstone?
who for Medway? (who for both, if possible?)

also, who would (or could?) coordinate the Medway part of this?

as for Maidstone meeting up places off the top of my head: (saying there's maybe 5-8 of us, of course, if the interest is there, i will contact any/all of these places ASAP about permissions, etc.)

-either location of Caffe Nero's (but there are no power outlets in the upstairs of the one on King Street, as for the branch in the House of Fraser; it's probably a safe bet there isn't either.)
-Costa coffee in the branch of Waterstones (in Fremlin Walk), am unsure about power supply situation since i am a Caffe Nero fan ;) (but would look into it)
-i could contact the local branch of the library as well
-there's a smallish coffeeshop by the Corn Exchange building who's name escapes me that might be a possibility.

i'm not sure what the hard and fast rules are about using ones home (if there are any or if it's up to the individual person)...

:) :)

roll on November!

Hi!!

Any or all of those venues fine with me.... my preference being Nero upstairs because there's a bit more room!

I'm away for the first weekend, though....

Otherwise completely count me in. I've got my plot and I'm ready to go. Looking forward to seeing you!

Good luck everybody, good on you to those doing it for the first time..... it's a complete blast.

Lots of love

Hey :) I'm from sittingbourne too like Chloe, and would also love to come to any meetups! I couldn't make it to any last year unfortunately, but this year should be good :) x

I will win this year, I will win this year, I will win this year! 3rd year lucky, right?!

Current plan, subject to change: Oh who knows! Maybe 'tick tock' but whatever!

Hey all Wrimo's! I moved to Maidstone just before last NaNo and recognise some of your names from then, good to see you guys again and a big cheer to all you NaNo virgins joining in for the first time. Yes, you are crazy but you're in good company ;).

So far I've no plot and no idea what I'm going to do yet, hopefully something will show up before midnight on October 31st.

I'm not sure I can make a meet up again this year but hope to be around virtually to cheer on the word counts :). I've asked the lovely Maidstone librarians to stick up a couple of NaNo posters on their notice board in the hopes of attracting some attention our way. I'll pop in tomorrow and find out if they're up.

So, good luck everyone! Enjoy the ride and remember that caffeine is your friend ;)

A meet up sounds cool, I've got my plot, but I'm still stuck for most of my characters lol. My sisters getting a job at Caffe Nero : ) I don't know...free coffee for me?

First timer from Medway Towns here. Looking forward to it but also terrified I will fail miserably.

I am not expecting to get a viable novel out of this first attempt but if I do achieve the word count, no matter how bad the content, it will at least prove to me that not having the time/opportunity/motivation etc. is just a pathetic excuse :-) Maybe that will spur me into trying it for real. If you can write a crap novel in 30 days surely you can write a better one in 30 weeks! (please don't burst my bubble :-} )

Does anyone know what they are writing about yet? I've got some stuff on my profile about my novel - however....am losing my love for it.... hows everyone finding the plotting etc???
