This is where everything that doesn't quite fit into any other thread goes! There's nothing wrong with a little chit-chat and getting to know your fellow ninjas. Bursting with great news that you just have to tell someone? Welcome! Sit a spell and spill the beans.

Nothing major going on, but you feel like being chatty? Here is right where you belong!

This doesn't quite fit in anywhere else :D

Once upon a time, (I think it was in March), I was wearing last year's nano Tshirt to my chiropractic appointment. I'm lying on my tummy while he's pushing on my spine, and he asks, "Nanowrimo? What's that?" So I explained, and he got all excited about it. He wants me to write a zombie novel, and then adapt it for a screenplay so he can give it to his friend who's in the movie biz and we can make a zombie movie together.

I didn't tell him that I could just write the script and skip the novel part first, but I did consider what kind of a zombie script I could write....

Seven months later, and he's still asking me questions about Nano :) I love my chiropractor.

Oh my goodness, Shais just cheered me up! This is the place to be if you need cheering up. My neck has been sore since Wednesday. It's getting better. I can't wait until it gets completely better then I can be more chatty and upbeat!

Paintball sounds fun! I've always wanted to play but then I'm scared of getting hit, even though it's paint.

Currently neck pain is less. And I'm so glad Shirt Ninja posted before me otherwise it'll look like I'm talking to myself. I'm also getting excited about Nano this morning!

Arnold! Shame shame. You've been here long enough to know that of the places to be caught talking to yourself, this is the best!

Isn't that right?

Back pain is less. Yes, back pain. Went from my neck to my back on my left side. Happy ending looks like it'll be coming up soon! I also feel more cheery :)!

My wife and I went to Pure Speculation this weekend. This is the fifth year the convention's been running in Edmonton, but the first we've actually attended. There was always something else going on, or something. This year, despite an incredibly hectic October ahead of us, we decided to go anyway.

We caught some interesting panels; I got to get things signed by Rick Green and Minister Faust, see our friend Barb Galler-Smith's copies of her first novel, hobnob with Ed Willett (and hear him sing some showtunes, and get him to sign Marseguro for us), and even catch up with Crystal Y... We managed to spread out the babysitting duties among our families, so we didn't see much of our kids...but they'll survive.

It was nice to catch up with you again! I had a lot of fun at the festival this year, and of course it always amuses me to see local nanoers there :) (waves to Aubin and Reki!)

That's just what I was going to say! Wri... I mean, Dinosaurs are awesome! How many other lizards do you know that can roar?

But if you're really trying to get away from large reptiles, but need something prehistoric, might I suggest a woolly mammoth?

On the other hand, both mammoths and dinosaurs have the same problem in novels as in real life: once they decide to go somewhere, it's devilishly hard to get them to change their mind.

A clockwork dinosaur might be somewhat programmable. Or perhaps you could just find a neurotic dinosaur that hates loud noises, crowds, and responsibility. On the other hand, there's an appalling lack of dinosaur disco in modern fiction. And nobody's saying it has to be a dinosaur which disco dances - that'd be silly. No, I'm thinking of a dinosaur so large that it can support a dance platform on its back, complete with speakers and coloured lights. Kind of like the whaling polka of 1856 - only with less horrific drowning.

Of course, there's always the option of just taking dinosaurs out of your novel... in which case, maybe I'll use a dinosaur disco... at a curling rink.

You know, I think I might have just found a title for my novel! "The Ballad of the Disco Curler". Not bad, eh?

Well, it's a work in progress, anyway. (And aren't they all?)

The Ballad of the Disco Curler is a great title!

Dinosaurs won't be in my novel, but the white moutains with the red sand will :)

How did I miss you? Probably because I don't know what you look like :)

Barb was published through Edge Science Fiction and Fantasy Publishing and I was helping to man their booth, so we probably walk right by each other this weekend. Did you attend the Steam Punk panels by Mike Perschon? He's an old coworker of mine and I never knew he was so interested in Steam Punk. Such a small world.

I love the way your mind works, Denton :D You may help yourself to dino disco (which I would so go to, BTW), as electricity is not widely available yet in my novel.

Dinosaurs may or may not make an actual appearance. I theorized, while touring the Tyrrell last spring, that the RCMP ought to be mounted on Albertasaurs. Going through photos of Walking with Dinosaurs yesterday brought this back to mind, so the North West Mounted Police might very well be mounted on dinos and - ooooh I was gonna say that they don't make an appearance, mentioned only in passing, but I think I got a way to add them in, even briefly...

This is going better than I hoped :)

Thanks guys!

Why, oh why, are all of our wrimos moving to Vancouver? That's it! I am instituting an exchange-only policy. No more of our awesome Edmowrimos can move to Vancouver without them sending someone awesome to us. Darn it!

At the rate we're going Virtual Clan is going to outnumber our other clans.

That would probably do it. Next time I'll wear an EdmoWriMo lanyard or whatever we get this year.

I spent a lot of time near the Edge tables, either talking to Barb or checking Rick Green's stuff. So we probably saw each other at some point but didn't realize. I can't remember if I bought any Edge books besides Barb's, though I do have a few already.

I saw the "Finding Nemo" panel, but not the other one. I confess that I'm already getting a little tired of steampunk... :p

I was so envious yesterday of people that got to sleep in, that I was soooooo excited to do so today, since I have today off :D Alas, I woke up at 8:13, saw the time and thought, I'm usually on the bus right now. SUCKERS!! AHAHAHA!! ...and proceeded to be too awake to go back to sleep. That'll learn me.

Now I'm baking pumpkin pie for tomorrow's dessert :) I'm doing baked pie (which smells wonderful right now) and a no-bake pudding pie, which is chilling in the fridge until the rest of the pumpkin is unfrozen. I was forced to like out the cream cheese/whipped cream bowl. Darn!

(I think I'm taking over for Arnold this year!)

I just noticed two things about the post count:

1) it has been reset for this year

2) SarahJanet has made 253 posts.

I'm not sure whether to be impressed or frightened or both. For reference, I added up all the posts in the Edmonton regional forum before I made this one, and there were 205.

No need to be sorry about the snow, I love it! Of course, I'm the one who loves it. I just had this panini but I'm still hungry and I don't know what to eat. I should've bought TV Dinners on my way home :(.

If it makes you feel better, the ML forum posts from last year are included in that, because they kept the posts. (They are currently temporarily lost, but still included in our counts.) So don't be so concerned about my lack of a life!
