Hi everyone! Can't wait to get underway, I hope I'm not bored of thinking about my story by the time November comes!
I'm just writing here to note something really. I noticed last year that there weren't any write-ins or meetups in the Mid-Wales area particularly. We had a few along the coast in Aberystwyth but most meetups occured in the cities to the north and south. So I'm really just enquiring to see how many people are in the area (Llandod...Newtown...Welshpool...Llanidloes... Machynthleth... etc) and then maybe in November we cuold have a cuople of meetups here in the middle!

Thanks :)
Have fun!

Hello, another mid-Wales person here - I live near Lake Vyrnwy, about 1/2 hour drive from Welshpool :-)
(I tried to reply last night but kept getting database errors)

I'm further down, in Lampeter, so can't join in. (Doesn't help that I can't drive at the moment either, but that's neither here nor there. :D) Hope you get something together! :D

I'm in Aberystwyth and it's my first ever Nanowrimo...eek!!! Still haven't quite decided what I'm going to write yet. Anyone else near here, or are we all scattered?

Hi Frederica,
I'm also in Aberystwyth. This will be my second NaNo, dunno if I'll get much time to actually write anything though between working full time, an accident-prone new horse and various other dramas.
*Sigh*

Might have time for a quick coffee and a natter about NaNo or writing in general, let me know if you're up for it.
:)

That could be cooll. I've been thinking about sticking some of the flyers up in town to see if I can persuade any other Aberystwythians to join in...there must be loads of writers round here.

And i'm glad to know that double posts are not just the curse of my computer.

I'm Aberystwyth based, too.

I guess this is technically my second NaNo, but last years went so appallingly badly it doesn't seem like it really counts and we won't mention that, ever. On pain of death. Of death, I say!

And so with that in mind I thought I might haul myself back for another shot.

So, err, hello...

Yay, Aberystwyth! I'm going into this year, my third, with a very laid back attitude, so we'll see how November ends. I'm new to the area, but is anyone else missing the existence of large coffeeshops where you can sit for hours to write? :) Meet-ups would be lovely. How many of you are in the university?

I'm no longer in university since I graduated last year, but the 'Aber Trap' well and truly got me and I decided to stay. Spent the past year being unemployed (recession hit this place quite hard) but recently found work and now working full-time in the hope that by next year I should have saved up enough to go back to uni to do my Masters.

Can't say I miss the existence of big coffee shops since it's been too long since I've been anywhere else so have forgotten what they were like. I do miss the old Mecha coffee shop though (which is now an MG's, I think)... they used to do Americanos with an extra shot of espresso, into which I'd add another shot of espresso for the ultimate burst of caffeine.

Another Aber student here - nervous about that word count! We should meet up, that'd be encouraging! :D

I was just thinking about when and where in Aber we could meet up. Any ideas or preferences?

Well last year we (all three of us!) met in Fresh Ground; but since then it's changed to focus more on the restaurant side, although isn't there a coffee shop/cafe thing opposite where Fresh ground is? That might be a nice place to try. What do other people think?

Mid Wales is always so unappreciated..... *sniffle*

*Ahem* Start again.... I'm from Rhayader, but I'm in Norwich in university at the moment. HOWEVER, I will be back home in Wales for the first week in November. So if there are any meet-ups then, I would love to try and get along to one of them!

I'm in for any Aber meets :) I'm a student here and could use some competition to motivate me.

Yet another Aber student here, first attempt for me; although I've been meaning to give this a go for the past 5 or 6 years. Oh well, if there's anything the past 5 years of Uni has taught me it's how to pad my word count ;).

I haven't been to that part of town, but I have no objections. The only other place I can think of is Costa, and though it's a nice place I don't think it'll fit us. Another alternative is to head to the Promie.

Also, so we're not taking over the Mid Wales thread, :p shall we discuss this in the Aber Uni thread (including non-students)? Let's get more suggestions of places and times to meet.

Yay 2 more Newtonians! Hello Em! I hate how you are managing to reach the word target daily! lol, mine is going slow and i seem to only be able to write anything in the 10 minuted before 6 am whilst i am waiting in the cold for my lift to work :S
Anyone else find their story writing more like a science textbook than a novel? No? :P

Another Aberystwyth person here :) My first time here at NaNo and I only got started late yesterday, would be interested in meeting up with fellow Aber peeps just for a general chat and encouragement! :)

Hi Hazelangell

There's another thread for Aber meet-ups - looks quite lively and I'm sure you'll be able to get together:
