Okay, so I know that the C.W.S. here at UKC is huge (I attended the welcome meeting last week and we overfilled the room) so there have to be at least a decent write-in's worth of willing fellow students and locals in the Canterbury area.

Let's start thinking about it now or we'll never get it done!

Now I know that it was mentioned at the first meeting of the C.W.S. for Kent this week. This should be fun.

I'm not in Canterbury, but sort of near it, and if any meet-ups move towards my area, I'm in! ^_^

Hi!

I'm at UKC as well. (Sadly not in the CWS, not enough time), but meet ups would be great!

Ok, every year we say we're gonna meet up but the meet is never as awesome as we plan it out to be and half the people never show up! I think this might have something to do with the fact that we can never decide on a date and time properly, so I'm proposing having a weekly meet/write-in for now.

Every Tuesday in November, from about 4pm til 6.30pm (or thereabouts) Me and RKC (another studenty-wrimo) will be at Costa (on the high street).

Sorry if you don't like Costa, but let's start off there and see what happens. I'm the one with a white laptop, and I'm gonna make a nanowrimo sign so that you can find us easily wherever we're sitting.

Let me know if Tuesdays at this time is good for any of you, I'm thinking of setting up another day for a weekly meet as well if it's unsuitable for the majority.

Also, if you want to get in touch with me, my email is: quantumnuri@hotmail.com

So yes, let me know if this is ok, and if you plan on coming!

I might turn up to a meet. I tend to write/study/read/pretend to do the above around town or on the UKC campus - so it shouldn't be too much effort.

Ohnoes! I'm in a lecture then :(
But, every Tuesday I go to Costa to have lunch from 1 'til about 3, & type away on my netbook. Lol, I'm gonna miss you by about an hour xD
I would love it if there was another day, but if there's not enough of us to do so... *shrugs* I'll just have to hope I'm luckier next year :P

Treesandbears - Awesome, hope to see you there :D

Lemon Crisis - Lol, I have a lecture from 1-3pm on Tues, that's why I said to meet later :(

But we can set up a Wednesday meet as well? Or on Thursday? (though I have a lecture 3-5 on thurs)
If anyone can't make the Tuesday meets, then what other times are good?

I'm also thinking of organising a TGIO party early December depending on how well the meets go :]

:P
Wednesday and thursday are my best days (I have lectures 'til 11 though - both times - but from then I'm free).
Hopefully I'm not the only one who can't make Tuesday, or I might have to skip a lecture or two xD
A par-tay would be cool if we can snag enough people for the meets, deffo.

Hello, I'm an exchange student from California studying at UKC. It's awesome that you guys are organizing this. I'm free Tuesday afternoons or Thursdays after about 2pm (although I wouldn't be able to make the first one). Anyone interested in a having a kick-off writing session - perhaps Sunday evening?

Don't skip lectures! What time does your lecture finish?
I'm going to find out what time Costa closes, I think it might be 7pm? So we can hang around there till then...
I'm also going to find out about plug points there, because I'm assuming that most people are going to be using laptops!

Hello incendiels! Welcome welcome!
Thursday is looking good then?
I can't meet till after 5pm, but I can catch up with you guys later on if you want?
I want to get these planned asap because then there'll be enough time for people to find out about them!

Just wondering, are all of you regular facebook users? I'm thinking of setting up a group on there so we can communicate easier, because this site doesn't get alot of traffic :(

But yes, Tuesdays are going to be a weekly thing either way, don't worry if you can't make all of them! But write-ins are always cool because creativity is infectious and good in big numbers :]

A kick-off party sounds cool! though I'm not sure if I'd be able to make it :(
Where are you thinking of having it?
The Two Sawyers pub is definitely laptop friendly, if you're planning for later meets...
As is Coffee and Corks I guess (though it's cliquey and scary and small there so I don't like going :( )

This is all really exciting, there are people!! I'm looking forward to meeting you guys :D

I'm definitely able to make Thursdays. Up to now I have been doing a regular Korma cook-up Thursday evenings but that dies for NaNo anyway. Tuesdays there will be CWS meetings here at UKC most weeks, and a seminar until 5, so that's a no go.

I definitely like the idea of doing a kick-off midnight write in if we can find a venue on the night, if not I'll be holding a desert-dinner and then watching the clock near midnight, keyboard in hand.

I am a regular user of facebook; NaNomail me if you want my e-mail for that.

My lectures finish at 5 on Tuesdays ^^ If Costa does shut at 7 then I'll come along anyway. But another sesh on Thurs would be great =]
I'm on FB, but I rarely use it. If its for NaNo though I suppose I can log in :P
A kick off party would be wicked, but its just finding a venue. I'd deffo try to come along!

Awesome, ok, I've just set up a Facebook group, so please come and join!

Just search for 'NaNoWriMo Canterbury' (because that's what I've named it). There's another group called "Canterbury Wrimos" but that group is from last year, and is dead now and you shouldn't join that one!
So yes, hopefully through that it will be easier to communicate as well because we can update each other if we have to change plans or something o_o

I'm going to Costa later to find out about meets there etc.
Where do you all fancy having the Thursday meets?
And what time?

Pretty much any time after 2pm I'm free Thursdays, so sometime mid-afternoon onward. I'm wagering other people will know Canterbury better than me, though, being a fresher.

Costa isn't too hard to find, and it's pretty big. I went and spoke to them, and they said it's cool for us to meet there, and they're allowing us use of their power points as well!! I'll bring an extensiony cable in case we need one. Is it alright to have the Thursday meets there as well? Why don't we have them at the same time? 3ish-7?
I'm gonna facebook message people in the group about it nearer the time asking what they think. I'm considering making everyone in the group an officer, then we can all contact each other easily, what do you think?

The direct link to the facebook group is here. Tuesdays seem okay, though I think that's when poetry night at Corks is, which'd take priority for me if they clash.

Thursday meets @ Costa sounds good! It makes sense to have them all in the same place. The time is ok too.
The FB idea is pretty kewl, anything that makes comminication easier!

zOMG... sorry. Thought I would start with that.

I'll be there, but that's a given! And it's sorta stopped raining now. I figured it was about time I commented here, and I was mentioned earlier =) woot!

See you all soon!

This is my first ever actual post on these forums, but I just remembered I have nothing of importance to say.

I will be at Costa on Thursday, kickin' it old-school yo. There is also a talk by Patricia Debney at UKC that some of you may be interested in. Aidan will be aware of this, but for the rest of you, she is one of them creative writing types that does books and shit, so she has agreed to give us all writing advice. Might be kinda cool, but dunno if y'all would prefer to hang out and steal Costa's electricity.

Dammit. I'd be there like a shot today, but I have Latin due in for tomorrow morning, and it's going to take me a while :( *pouts* Will definitely try to get there for a while on Tuesday, though, and next Thursday is fine :D

Looking forward to my first ever meet-up, and seeing some other NaNo people from the university :D

I figured it was time to write here again. *Bumped*

The meetings have been so cool, it's been nice meeting new people.

for anyone who hasn't turned up and are in the area, feel free to come along. The guys in Costa have started getting to know us, and although this Thursday from 3:30ish we'll be in Starbucks, the guys at Costa rock and totally don't mind us stealing their electricity =)

Come along!

Not much activity in here. I'd like to make sure everyone is aware of the facebook group.

Search 'NaNoWriMo Canterbury 2009'
We have a couple more normal write ins, and some of us have planned parallells for the Night of Writing Dangerously. I'll be hosting two of them at my flat. Thursday and Friday night of next week. If you can't get on facebook to see the events, then NaNomail me for details!
