I've tried searching for authors in specific regions, by leaving all fields blank except either the checkbox for Search only members of my home region or by selecting a region name.
The search appears to return only those authors who've set or changed their home region since October 1st - those of us who were homed before that aren't showing up.
I'm taking a good guess at this being the problem, anyway, based on a specific non-new user who I know used to be in Ireland::Elsewhere and is now in Ireland::Northeast, and having looked at the joining date of other users returned in this type of search. There's a definite lack of users being returned in the search anyway - I don't even show up when I search on my own home region even though I'm one of the MLs!

That seems to be the case. I didn't show up, changed my home region to another region and back again, and showed up.

This is happening to me as well. I don't show up in my own region (Georgia: Atlanta), even though I have it listed as my home region. In fact, searching within the region with all the other parameters blank gives me only 17 results, compared to the 1308 (and growing) that should be popping up.

That is really strange. The only thing I can think of is maybe it's something to do with google caching? Letme try this on me and see (I haven't changed my region since 2002!)

Hmm, we've only got three people showing up on ours. I'll hang a ticket on this one.

If you go in and change your home region to none, then go back and change your home region to what it should be - you will then start showing up in the search list by location.
I just did this and once I reset my home region, everything is fine. My name shows up in the search by region list now.
It's a shame, because currently US-Delaware is only showing 11 people. I know we are a small state but sheez. That's not right.
Hopefully, the techs can get this fixed before November. It's nice to be able to see everyone within one's home region. But it we get the word out, this issue is easily fixed.

I want to also say that I have wrimos who have homed since October 1 and they are not showing up in the regional search.
(And btw--ML's should not un-home and re-home--causes other problems for you.)

Just a quick note that this is still an issue on November 2.

And still an issue on November 5.
However, I did the de-home / re-home thing and am now listed.

I'm still seeing this--it's 11/6 here. It's confusing because it says we have 8 people in our region; but in the regional forum, it says we have 14 active wrimos for 2009 who are homed. (I can only find 13 of them by hand.)
And 44 for e-mails (of course these are affiliates), who when you go check through them one by one, you come up with yet a different count for homed (can't really tell who's active, though some I know aren't).
aack.
I would like to be able to figure out who are my homies. We're a small enough region (in terms of number of writers) tha I really should know this...
thanks. I know you guys are doing a great, great job. Really appreciate it all.

When I did a Home Region Maryland search, 547 authors turned up.
I was NOT one of them.
Obviously I won't un-Home and re-Home myself, but humph. I can't recall if, after Oct 1, I did anything to re-Home myself.
According to our Regional Header, we have 1289 active and Homed participants in MD.
I'm sure Dan is hard at work to fix this and the other bugs that crop up. I'd be happy to send chocolate if it will help!

I skimmed the first couple of pages before bumping this, so my apologies if there's a more recent thread.
This is the time of the month when I usually check to see who in my region is hovering at 10-20k and send them a quick note to see how they're doing. I also like to send a cheer to those who've reached 50k but don't show up at events or post in the forum.
Is this issue still being investigated? I've made contact with dozens of lurker-type writers the last few years, and it's very frustrating that these veterans are the ones who aren't showing up on the list. I forced my own name to appear by clicking Set Home Region (without changing the region it was set to). Is there some way to force that for everyone behind the scenes?

The only known fix is to have those not showing up rehome themselves. It's still on the to-do list, but some other things came up that interfered with it getting fixed. Sorry, no ETA.

Bumping to report that this appears to be the case when you just hit search on all authors and enter nothing. The default is sorted by userid, though you can't resort by userid if you sort by word count or alphabetically. No problem there, but not everyone shows up. I don't show up when searching for all authors, and sorting by userid, I should be on the first page from my results. Is this the default behavior or a bug?
