Kieren Perkins once said "Being your best is not so much about overcoming the barriers other people place in front of you as it is about overcoming the barriers we place in front of ourselves. It has nothing to do with how many times you win or lose. It has no relation to where you finish in a race or whether you break world records. But it does have everything to do with having the vision to dream, the courage to recover from adversity, and the determination never to be shifted from your goals."
So, let me ask you, what barriers have you placed in front of yourself this November?
For me, the big two are definitely my youth group and swim practice. Swimming was a mild problem last year, but once my team found out of NaNo, they kept encouraging which was great for me. Youth group, however, takes up more time now than it did last year. Between band practices, running the youth groups website, and teaching people to take over my duties once swim season starts, I really do not want to think about it...
Last year, I had this amazing second period study hall I used to type (I cannot stand putting homework off until the day it is due), which I do not have this year. However, I am part-time at one of the Kent branches, so I have more free time between classes. A more than fair trade, in my opinion.

No big barriers, just a job search... heh. I'm down to my last dollars in my bank account, and if I don't find a job by November 30 I will literally be bankrupt thanks to student loans payments. I've been so bummed out with my job hunt that I really need something to keep me going, and NaNoWriMo sounds like just the thing.

Well, the past two Nanos I've been at home while my son was at school. But this year (Monday to be exact) he'll start learning from home with my going over the lessons with him. So no more Mommy-alone-time for me! It's basically like I'm taking on a full time job besides my normal housestuff every day.
The plus, of course, is that I get to see my son all day long and take a more active role in his learning. Plus, he said he wants to do Nanowrimo (YWP for him) with me again this year!

My husband and I are starting the process of trying to find a house asap, so I supposed that and packing will be a source of procrastination for me this year. :) Depends on when and if we find a house.
In terms of projects, I've gotten better and better about removing those types of things from November every year. I don't plan big projects and my book group is even taking November and December off, so I'm *hoping* I'll be able to stay on track this year. :)

I'm trying to plan my wedding, so yeah. I'm either going to put off writing to do stuff for that, or put off stuff for that to write; I'm not sure which at this point. I procrastinate a lot anyway, which has been my biggest problem in every past Nano I've attempted. Maybe this year will be different...
