The date was set on Sunday. We will be kicking off this craziness on October 23rd at 7:00.

We'll be partying at the DeAngelo's on Bluebonnet. I've booked the banquet room, so just ask at the desk for Courtney and they'll take you right to us!

Please, please, PLEASE go ahead and RSVP! I need to let them know a final number and how many goodie bags to make up. That's right. GOODIE bags! You know you want one. I can promise that they will have stickers and sugar at the very least.

You can reply here, or send me a message. Either one would work. :)

Can't wait to see you all soon!!

Do we have an agenda for this party? Or are we just practicing our Waitstaff Freak-Out skills? :)

I'm fairly certain I can be there. Hey! That's even a payday! Whoo!

Count me in too!

On the way home Sunday I started thinking (my first big Nano challenge!) ... when we used to have conferences and seminars we would go to some of the businesses in town and ask for what-nots for ditty bags. We usually ended up with key chains, pencils, pens, notepads, etc.

I don't know if I am as good at begging anymore or not, but if you want I'll give it a try. If you let me know how many you expect to show up, I'll see if I can't find some "treasures" for your welcome bags.

I'm in, though I'll likely have to leave at about 8:15. My improv group has a show every Friday at 9pm. Looking forward to it! Also, my friend Nicholas has decided to sign up. I'll have to make sure that he shows up so he can meet the group!

Agenda - eating and making merry!

Also the getting of goodie bags and introductions. Maybe a game? Maybe.

AND collection of writing prompts! O forgot to but that in my first post. We'd like everyone to bring one (or more!) writing prompt, crazy or no, to the kickoff party. These will be posted on the forums throughout November so that anyone who needs a bit of motivation can find it.

The DeAngelo's on Bluebonnet is in the shopping center (Bluebonnet Village) across from Perkin's Rowe. So it's on the corner of Bluebonnet and Perkins.

The address is :7550 Bluebonnet Blvd - if you want to googlemaps/GPS it. :)

Is it cool for me to bring a date? (even if I haven't managed to convert him to the NaNoWriMo goodness?)

I'll be there; though possibly a bit late. I'm scheduled to work until 6 PM and I'll be coming from Baker. I'll check the calender, though and maybe I can get off a little early---we work half staffed on Fridays and Saturdays, so If I'm gone, it makes it that much worse on the others. And no, it doesn't slow down when it gets near to closing time---that seems to be the time when half of Zachary decides they simpy must get some books/DVDs to last them until tomorrow. :)

Sorry I missed the kick-off party -- had other pressing issues (trying to clear off the desk for November 1!). Will someone be sending out a report? How was it?!!

Hi Joey,

The party was tons of fun! I'm sure our fearless ML will post a more thorough report later, but I was impressed with the turnout and enjoyed how varied (in terms of age range, interests, background) this group is. It'll be a fun November, that's for sure.

Hope you can make it to future gatherings!

I am a (largely) shut in Wrimo, so I will be looking forward to that report! (I'm not allowed to drive for medical reasons and have never learned how.)

But, I'll be writing my novel from home base anyway. Out of curiosity, how many of you live on or near LSU campus, where I am?

We had 25 people at the kick-off party and I do believe everyone had a good time!

We certainly ate, drank and made merry. (The mango cosmos were dangerously delicious!)

The donation hat was also passed and fed. There were door prizes earned and goodie bags handed out. We'll be gathering again on November 1st at 2:00 at the CC's on Jefferson. Left over prizes and goodie bags will be used as rewards at future write-ins.

We are looking at November 20th for our all night or late night write-in. A final decision about location and time will be made on November 1st, so if you have an opinion be sure to weight in by then and/or attend the Sunday write-in.

I had a great time seeing all you "old-timers" again and meeting the newbies! Can't wait until Sunday!
