I'm beginning to think that I am the only Nano in Juneau! Please, someone, let me know if I have ANY company in this 50k challenge this year! --Raven

You're not alone. There's another two people besides me here in Juneau that I know are doing NaNoWriMo this year, and possibly one other.

We're planning on having little meetings once a week to check in on our progress and chat about what's happening with our novels. Not totally decided yet, maybe Sat/Sun at Heritage coffee? It's open to anyone who wants to come, as long as they're ok with meeting strangers they've only talked to on the Internet.

Hey, I'm a JDHS grad who is currently residing in Anchorage, but if you four do choose to meet weekly, I'll be in Juneau for a good chunk of November and meet the other writers who hid all through my NaNo attempts in high school. So can I be a potential honorary Juneau member?

Hey, I participated in the meetups last year and they were pretty great! It's still kind of up in the air right now, but we're looking at a meetup at the Valley Heritage at 1 PM on the 1st of November. Let's kick off the month with a bang and get to know our fellow Juneau NaNoers!

Well, we may have lost one, but it looks like we've picked up two! (One and a half? lol)

I look forward to seeing everyone on the first, especially those I haven't met before. :)

Who wants to bring identifying items so that any new people to the meet-up can recognize where the writers are at? I can't remember where the Cthulu plushie went and don't want to wear a funny hat. Should they just look for where all of the Macbooks are?

Something tells me that Macbooks may not be sufficient identifiers in a coffee shop. :P

Quaker, do you still have that top hat? It worked well last year.

...and my laptop is not a Macbook.

Wow, my memory is really awful isn't it?
I could print out one of those NaNoWriMo fliers for the table, in addition to the potential top hat. That way if there's a top hat convention of Mac users everyone will know where the right people are.

Haha, I certainly don't expect you to remember the brand of my laptop a full year after the fact! (It's an HP.)

Anyway, the flier thing is a good idea. :) I'll try to find a fun hat to wear as well. I don't have a top hat, but I'm sure I have something.

You guys have no idea how awkward it is to wear a funny hat the day after Halloween. Everyone thinks your just wearing the costume a day too long.

...yes? I think that's the only one in the valley. Ignoring Safeway's that is.
Richard, to make you feel less odd, I'll wear my bright red trenchcoat.

Yes, indeed.

Alright, I'll man up and where the top hat. So everyone should come to heritage around 1 PM on Sunday and look for the guy in the top hat.

Let's just hope this isn't the day where top hats are suddenly in style.

Ooh, sorry. Did you miss the notice that the haberdashers of America, steampunk society, and the mad hatter fan club are all meeting there this Sunday?

Is World of Warcraft down for maintenance that day or something?

Richard, why are you online posting about World of Warcraft when you could be attending an awesome Hallowe'en party? lol

Come to that, why am I? See you all tomorrow at Heritage!

Hey all,
Heritage is mightily full, so we're all moving out to the waffle house in Auke bay, next to Chan's tai kitchen, across from deharts.

For some reason, I am getting these posts a couple of DAYS after you have written them! WTF? Anyway, are you going to meet up this weekend somewhere? I changed my name since 2008, I was lmcmahon last year, but I still regret not getting to meet the rest of you during the 2008 Nano! I would love to finally meet you all this year. I would be willing to wear something unique and freaky in my hair so Quaker doesn't always have to be the humiliated one! lol! I have long black hair and when I put it up it can support several freaky goth-type ornaments! Let me know about this weekend, k?

I'm so bummed I missed last weekend's meet. I hope something is going on this weekend. Hey btw thanks Quaker for introducing me to Nano two years ago. I'm trying to get some co-workers here at the paper to get into it, so far I just have one other person who is joining late. Nano is freaking awesome!

Next meet-up is this Saturday 2:00 at the Waffle place near the Thai place. Better directions are a few posts up.
