If you want to try to get ahead and go crazy on Nov 1st, post your word count goal for the day and then update us throughout the day as to how you're doing.

I think I should get up a buffer - at least 4K? As much as I possibly can, anyway.

Write or Die will definitely help with that. Plus, I have three story lines to bounce between. :D

My word count goal for Nov. 1st is 5 words. That would be amazing to get done on 11/1....seriously folks....
And considering I am working from 7am to midnight that day, let's all hope and pray I can pull those damned five words. ;-)

I usually am happy if I can hit 2K on November 1. We'll see...

Well, considering I don't have a computer for the beginning of this years NaNo, I would love to get a simple hundred words out as it's a Sunday.

Now, my November second goal [when I am at school and work with a computer] is a good 7k.

8D

Well, as this is my first year I don't know what to expect from my fingers and my sporadically cooperative brain. If I can figure out how to avoid spending most of my time editing what I have written I may get close to 50,000 words in the month. If I can't then I would be surprised if I get more than 20,000 in the month of hard work.

I would like to get 2k words Nov 1. I have a goal of 2k per day for the month. I know I am going to miss it some days but 2k / day would get me to the end of the challenge with the word count I need.

I think I'll try for 3k. "Try" because I don't know how much homework I'll have.

I don't see an intro thread, but I'm new to the region, so I want to say hi. I'm Sha, I'm a student at Wesleyan, and I'm trying to decide whether to set this or my home area as my 'home region'--since I'll actually be in each place for half the month, once Thanksgiving break happens.

I'm going to try for 7k. The most I've done in a day was 15k last year but my hands hurt so much by the end of that day that I don't really want to repeat it. The only other thing I have planned for 11/1 is letting the dogs in and out and packing. I think I can eek out some decent progress in between.

This is my first year where I'm actually going to begin writing. :P I'm hoping for maybe 2,000 or 3,000? I'm glad it's a Sunday. I can lounge around writing, go to bed late, and be miserable Monday morning when I have to be up for class.

Tomorrow is it!! I'm so excited I think I'll start at 12:00am. I've had my outline in place and soooo tempted to write but now I only have to wait 8 hours more!! This is my first Nano and my first actual goal for writing my novel. I'm sooo hoping that Nano will get me over this imaginary barrier I have when I try to complete a story. My plan is just to write/type and see where it goes. I'm not stopping to re-write or re-do my outline; I'm not stopping to research or re-think my plots - I'm just going to move forward and type.

My Word Count Goal for Nov. 1st is 3500 words since my whole family knows to leave me alone tomorrow; and the only other thing I have to do is go food shopping in the morning.

Well, off to clean the house so I can write/type all day tomorrow.

Good luck to everyone!

Michelle

I'm starting at Midnight!***
Who's with me?

***I have no idea how many words I'll end up with, but last year I made it to 8K on day one, so I'll probably aim for something similar.

I'm starting at Midnight. Hoping to get a thousand words done, and then another thousand "tomorrow", which would put me at 2K for the day. And then keep that up for the rest of the month.

Well, I'm abandoning my original hopes for 7k words. It was an overestimate. Who knew it would take several hours to pack and get everything together for a 10-day trip out of the country? Being that this is my first, well, I suppose I didn't know how long it would take. But that had first priority since the plane takes off tomorrow.

I did, however, get nearly 2700 words today. Maybe I'll make it to 3k before I sleep...I'm sure I can punch out 4k tomorrow (with the flight and everything). So that makes 7k over the first *two* days.

How'd the rest of you do so far with your first day goal (keeping in mind it's still only 6:30 pm)?

I actually hit 9200 before I went to bed on day one. Only 8800 or so official for the progress chart.
It was a new personal best!

I'm hoping to beat my three day record of 21,000 words tomorrow!**
