Does anyone know if the St Paul Public Library system is hosting any NaNo write-ins? I checked the St Paul Public Library website and they didn’t show any Write In events for NaNoWriMo in their November calendars.

I really want to attend write-ins where I don’t have to spend a lot of money (i.e. food and bevvies), and weekends are about it for my availability to “go social”

I am willing to host a few Saturday or Sunday sessions at the Merriam Park or Highland Park location.

The libraries aren't involved with Nanowrimo, so they wouldn't be advertising write-ins.

However, some people have, and still can, set up write-ins in libraries. Last year, some folks were meeting at the Minneapolis Central Library. If you are interested in setting up a write-in at a library, you can do so on the Write-in Set Up Information link under Regional Headers section.

If you'd like to meet in a library, then it would be a good idea to think of where in the library a write-in could take place. Does it have a meeting room, or an out of the way corner? If you want a meeting room, then you'll have to make arrangements with the library.

Going to a write-in doesn't have to be expensive. If you're really tight on a budget and are writing at a cafe, get a cup of tea... you can nurse that along for quite awhile, and even ask for a refill of hot water to re-use the tea bag.

I talked to Mary at Mirriam Park Public Library. She doesn't believe anyone has contacted them yet about booking the room for NaNoWriMo.

With that in mind, Merriam Park Public Library has a meeting room (capacity 75 with wi fi) that is available on November 1, 8, 22, and 29, from 1pm to 5pm.

I can book it for ONE session for NaNoWriMo during the month of November. Does anyone have a preference on the date?

Also is anyone interested in booking a room at Merriam Park library in December for NaNo project editing?

I’m going to check availability for the Mirriam Park conference room on October 25, too, for a Pre-Nano write- in. Pre-work only, just getting characters filled out, outline, etc.

I'd be up for either the 1st or the 22nd. I'm working in La Crosse, Wisconsin, and splitting my weekends between here and St. Paul. I know for sure that I'll be in St. Paul on the 1st, and I'm pretty sure I'll be there on the 22nd. I love the Merriam Park library! What a great idea!

I'll wait another few days or so to see if anyone else has a preference. Otherwise, I really like the 1st to get NaNo kicked off, or the 22nd to get caught up LOL

Sorry I took so long to update-

I did schedule a write in for Merriam Park Library for November 1, from 1.15pm-4.30 or 4.45pm. I was not able to schedule more sessions in November at that location. it is posted on the TC Forum calendar.

As far as Highland Park Library goes- I will check them out and post back with an update. Weekends still work best for me, so I was thinking perhaps the weekend of the 21st or the 28th.

Thanks! Kiera

Hi there. The Highland Park library gets my vote for a write-in! I'll check back to see if any have been set up, or let me know if anyone needs help organizing it there.

Today's write-in at Merriam Park was GREAT!

Last I heard, we were going to check-in with Merriam Park next Saturday and send a message using Nanowrimo to say whether we'd be there again. As of now, no one has scheduled the room.

I was able to make it to part of the time (at Merriam Park). I hadn't really known what to expect, but it was fun to be surrounded by other writing typing away :)

my laptop was stolen along with all my nano novel everything. i will not be hosting or attending nano events until i can either get my stuff together (start over...) or next year LOL whichever comes first.

and.... if you see a HP notebook (nc6220) with a sticker on it that says 'Pain Solves Everything" on the cover and it is NOT being operated by a mid-30s, 5 foot tall brunette woman with glasses and lots o tattoos, then please call the cops to catch the perp.

Oh man, Kiera that blows!

I am so sorry to hear about the laptop theft. Anything else we can do beyond looking for the laptop/thief? Although I'm not sure when you will read this, if you have no computer. . .

In any case, do you want someone else to take the lead on the SPPL write-ins?

Let us know,

txutxi

Kiera, that is so sad to hear! Please consider trying to keep going this year, it is early in the month, there are even people still joining and beginning their novels each day.
And, to the rest of us, a reminder to backup our novels! Send it in an email to yourself if nothing else.

Hi everyone!! I am hoping to get a write-in together for the Friday after thanksgiving for anyone in town in Highland Park or Merriam Park area, or whoever else would like to come. Would anyone be interested? It would be on the 27th.

Kiera, I am so sorry about your lap top!!
