We actually did have a kick off last year in Berkeley at Au Coquelet.

I'm ALL ABOUT having a kick off again this year...folks meeting up at 10 or 11 to chat and catch up, and then BOOM writing at midnight!

The only problem with Au Coquelet is lack of outlets. So you have to charge up before hand...but they do have food, coffee, and beer, which is a plus.

It was fun there last year.

What say people?

I would definitely be up for an Au Coquelet kick-off that met up at 10. I'm not good for anything much later than that and would have to leave early, but it would be nice to meet folks, and would definitely get me in the swing of things.

Fun!

Stupid question I know, but this would be on Halloween, correct?

Also what is the address of the place?

I'm talking about a big kickoff party like the one they had at the Rickshaw Stop a few years back. It usually takes place a few days before the 31st.

We did have a kick-off last year; there was a joint kick off in two locations at the same time. We met on November 1st in Walnut Creek and there was another meeting in Berkeley.

Au Coquelet has been a popular location for the midnight kick-off. For those of you who want to celebrate Halloween and start Nano the following day, we'll be having a kick-off again on November 1st. Mwalker and I will be posting details for the Nov. 1st party soon.

If you hammer out the details for the midnight kick-off, let mwalker or me know and we'll advertise it on the calendar.

Is there a daytime kick-off or meet'n'greet party planned anywhere? After midnight's kind of tough for those of us who rely on public transportation and/or have commitments the next morning.

Au Coquelet has wifi now (they got it in the last two months or so) but still not a lot of outlets.

I'm in!

To answer NyessaX's question, there will be a daytime kickoff as well -- at 11:00 in the morning, November 1 at La Scala coffee house in Walnut Creek. (This is for the people who go to bed early or have other plans on Halloween.) If I had more energy I'd try to make it to the midnight kickoff as well, but I doubt I'd be able to stay awake that late!

My Halloween plans have just fallen through, so I'm excited about this gathering at Au Coquelette - I love that place! I'm in Oakland, and plan to drive up to Berkeley, so if anyone else is coming in by public transport and is worried about going home at 2am, I can probably give you a ride as long as it's not too out of the way.
