Hey all.
This is my first year and I am notorious for not finishing projects. I am looking for a group, but I just can not make the Wednesday thing at Panera. Previous commitments. Any one interested in something in Livermore on another night. I could always go to Dublin or Pleasanton as well. The library is open here till 9 and there is a great food/beer place that's open till eleven.
Let me know folks thoughts.
Jonathon

We're currently planning to add Thursday nights at Borders as well. Norsehound was also interested in arranging a Livermore write-in, if you're looking for someone local to contact.

Yeah I was toying with the idea of starting up a Livermore group. I thought about having it at Panama Bay, but It isn't really a place to have dinner. They have wireless and power strips though, just that they have a band playing on thursday, friday, and saturday nights.
Would anyone else be interested in coming to a Livermore group?

Is the Thursday night Borders group that's in the works planned for the Pleasanton Borders or the San Ramon Borders?
I'm checking out what's being established close to me, and so far it's Stockton or Dublin. Livermore or Pleasanton might be a good option, depending on the day and times.

Pleasanton Borders on Thursday would work for me. Norsehound, if you want to do a Livermore group, we could try the Ale House, or Peet's. We could even try the Wild Vine on say a Tuesday, but they have no food if that's what you're looking for. If all else fails, the library is open until nine.

I'd love to try to hook up with a group in Livermore if it's not a Tuesday. Peet's seems like a good place, since the environment is a little more low-key. The library's also good.

Panama Red (Panama Bay)is one of the most casual coffee places I've ever been to (well, compared to Starbucks) and again, all I need to do is tell them the day and time and they're cool with it. Tuesday nights is best for me (after 6:30 or so), and they don't have a band playing then. The Library is good too, but someone's going to have to figure out the procedures for renting one of the conference rooms. Would they let us book it for a weekly basis over the month?

I agree with LadyBedivere, Peet's seems like a better option. Panama is pretty chaotic, even when a band isn't playing. I thinks Peet's would be a little more conducive to getting more work done. So how bout Thursdays at Peet's, 6:30?
Also, if anyone is planning on going to the kickoff party in Walnut Creek on the 1st, I would be happy to drive. Just let me know.

Panama Bay can't be that 'chaotic' when students come in to study, and groups like the Go club and a knitting group comes in on evenings when there isn't a band playing. Actually, one of the staffers said it's pretty quiet on evenings from Sunday to Wednsday (to the point of even going to Las Positas and advertising as much). I'm going on Tuesday evening just to see how "Bad" it is myself. Frankly, I get more things done there than I do at home- even on "chaotic" nights. Plus, their coffee is nice and the staff is awesome.
Because of the way things are working out I might not be able to make Thursday nights in Livermore. I might still attend Tuesday nights at Panama Bay for those in the area who can't make the Thursday one, or attend other nights at other locations and want another place to write.

I would be in for a Tuesday night write in in Livermore. I'm cool with Panema or Peets. This is my fourth nano, and I've never made it to a write in yet, but I also didn't win last year, so when the final spot is confirmed I'll try to be there.

Just to toss another option into the mix: Anyone up for Thursday nights at Peet's in San Ramon? They were very friendly last year and when they closed, those who wanted to write later moved across into Borders. Now both locations offer free wi-fi.

Well I'm here on Tuesday night at Panama Bay and there's only something like eight people here. No band playing, no droves of people... pretty sedate actually.
Unless you think offering coffee and some background music are prohibitive to writing, I can't see why you wouldn't want a write-in here. There are at least three places to set up laptops, and wireless is free (and secure. Just ask the staffers for the password). Table space might be cramped (If some of you have problems writing on your laps), but there is a big table at the back that can hold a few people if more than a handful of nanoers decide to show up. They don't seem to have any problem with bringing dinner in either.
Anyways, I'm gonna keep going to Panama Bay on Tuesday nights, around 6:30pm. Might be later since I'm coming from Fremont, but anyone's welcome to join me. When November actually starts, I'll have a sign with me.

I can make it Thursday nights at Borders and will also try Tuesdays at Panama Bay in Livermore (if I can find it!). Probably won't be able to make it to all the meetings in November but I'm going to try to do at least half. I'm worried that last year was just beginner's luck and I'll need all the help I can get in making it to 50K this year!

I might be able to make it to the Borders in Pleasanton on Thurs. nights. I'm looking for some writes in on thurs. nights, really the only night I have free, but Pleasanton's about as far as I could really travel I think.
Anyways just throwing that in.

Hello,
I'm out in Tracy and would like to join in on the Thursday night meetings at Borders. Mind having a Tracy-ite in your presence?
