It has been suggested we have an all night write in.
I think it sounds like fun. Investigations have begun for a spot that we could have such a thing were people could actually bring a pillow and sleep on the floor if they needed a break. This is of course ideal.
IF however, such a plan falls through, perhaps we could have just a late night write in similar to the Night of Writing Dangerously , just not as big, but still as dangerous!
Thoughts?

Sounds like a blast but who would host it? Plus you need food and what not for sustenance. I love cooking but college+broke=no pots and pans... I'm in if we can figure out details.
Off topic idea I think I might start the Donation of kitchen ware to Cori fundraiser..... I think that would be legal.

I am all in for this idea. We could pack lunches (or an assortment of late night snacks), bring coolers, and I think that Erica said her condo complex has an activity center that might work for that. If it has a bathroom and a microwave (and some comfy furniture) I think that would work.
As for a late night write-in, that'd be cool as well. Same thoughts as for the overnight.
Bottom line: I am down for either, or both!

Erica, ex-ML extraordinaire has secured her condo's clubhouse for us if we so desire.
Now according to her this clubhouse is "pretty much a big empty room with a little kitchenette, with funky old outdoor style chairs to sit in." Not the most comfy atmosphere. Still, if I'm going to stay some place all night, I'd rather it be private with a corner where I can toss a sleeping bag if I really need to.
I'm still game if there is interest, but I'm also game for taking over a corner of Coffee Call until the wee hours of the morning before going home and crashing.
Majority rules on this one folks - so weigh in!

Yeah, I'm actually thinking Coffee Call might be a more comfy way to go, so it won't hurt my feelings if we don't use the clubhouse, though it's definitely available if that's what we all decide. :)

I'm up for either really. I would love to have the all night, but I could do the late night thing too, especially if it's a Sat. night, because of Church the next morning. (Depending on if I need to be in Children's Church or not. I'm in Children's Church every other week, and I'm not sure if that's my week to be back there or not. LOL If I don't have to be back there, the all night thing could work out for me. LOL)

I vote for spending the night somewheres. Mainly because i've never done an overnight write-in before.

I'm up for either! An all night write in sounds amazing, but what I think would be more appropriate would be to find a location in which those who WANT to write all night can, and those who want to sleep/collapse/leave can do so as well.

In case it makes a difference, I can offer my services for setting up the All-Nighter. I don't have a space for us, but I can help with other hosting duties. Getting ice; bringing a cooler and/or a small fridge; bringing up to six camping chairs, four folding chairs and a card table; and caffeine.
Let's write through the night!

On my way to work today, I passed by a NEW, 24-HOUR establishment on Chimes St. called Akasha Express. I went in and introduced myself. It is a nice, clean place with comfortable seating indoors at tables and at a bar/lunch counter and metal cafe tables and chairs outdoors. They serve both food and drinks (burgers, gyros, Cokes, Community Coffee, etc) and people can rent waterpipes for outdoor use. I asked the manager if I could spread the word and if he'd mind a group of writers coming in after the first of November. He was delighted! So, I'll check again today or tomorrow and see if they've got good outlets or WiFi. How many people are we talking about?

Joey,
Akasha Express sounds great, but what about parking? As I recall, traffic and parking on Chimes Street used to be
something of a problem.

Speaking of chimes st. Louie's is 24/7. Though parking will always be an issue for that area.

Right Fable! Although it has gotten a bit better. There's on street parking and some parking lots that are designated for the different businesses in the area. The beauty of the Chimes/State Street area is that Louie's, Akasha, and Highland coffees are all right there. Pick a place, and WRITE!

This is probably a silly newb question, but would we use this location for multiple weekend write-ins? I'd like to participate, but probably can't do it this Sunday. I'll probably end up doing a lot of my writing at Highland Coffee in any case.

The website hates me. I've tried to reply to TashDragon three times already. Grr. Arg.
So - We will be at CC's at 2 every Sunday in November.
I am considering making one or more of the weekday write-ins near LSU. Also, there has been a couple of questions about a Saturday write-in. If someone wants to organize that near campus, I'll promote it in my weekly emails and put it on the google calendar.

I could talk to the people here at the LSU AgCenter to see if we can use Knapp Hall.
I've got the keys to get into the building after hours. There's a "lounge" area with a bunch of tables, some funky (in a fun way) orange-cushioned chairs, a kitchenette, two microwaves and five vending machines (two with canned soda, one with bottle soda, one with snacks... and one with COFFEE). The ladies' restroom has a sofa in it. (I'll ask one of the guys to see what the guys' restroom has)
The building, by virtue of being on LSU Campus, has wi-fi... and depending on whether or not it's a home game day, plenty of parking.
The drawback... I'd have to be there, so the weekend of November 20th is a no.

I know it's hard to get everybody together at the same time, but Sunday write-ins at 2 p.m. are really great for me.
I usually go to church in the morning which leaves my afternoons free. The rest of my week is pretty crazy.
So I hope that everybody can form a group that can meet when they want, but I also hope our group continues to meet on Sunday afternoons!
And just as a reminder, I think I already weighed in on the All Night Write In. I'm up for whatever the majority decides.

More info on Chimes Street/Akasha Express. GOOD: They have wi-fi, good food and they are delighted to have us if we want to come. BAD: They don't have off-street parking. Chinese Combo King next door is also a very nice location to write, but they are only open until 10:00 pm. They don't have wi-fi, although they say they can pick up the LSU signal. They have off street parking BUT after 10:00 pm their towing service will tow anyone parked in their lot.
I like dona's suggestion of the LSU campus but would check out if it's really o.k. with the powers that be. The University can get cranky when its facilities are used after hours by non-LSU types. I think its a liability thing...
Awaiting instructions, I remain humbly yours,

Your on ^.^ !!! I find myself to be an ok cook, wanna go to culinary school but according to family have to get a college degree first.
I don't have a large fridge so I would be giving allot of food away anyways.

All in all where it happens will be nice. Erica's place seems to be easiest and we could just curl up and sleep if need be. I'll be any we choose but I know I probably won't be able to stay up the whole night because I work on weekends. Being that the case I'll be tired when I get there and I will also need a few hours to work/school the next day. ^.^ Hopefully we figure this out. I say Highland coffee only because Their couches are really comfy. >.<;

So - I'm making an Executive ML decision and deciding that we are doing this at Akasha Express. I will not be staying all night, but if people want to, it's 24 hours so they can. I'll be posting the times as 8-2 but of course people can (and I expect will) come in waves.
