I want some writing buddies to help me through my first NaNoWriMo. I think it would be great to meet up with other writers at least 3 times/week for evening writing sessions. If you're interested please let me know. Also if you have any ideas near the downtown Evanston area for meetups let me know.

I'm interested! If people are available for mid-morning meet-ups (between 10 and 1) those work best for me. I'm new to town so I have no suggestions for where. :)

That sounds great; this is my first NaNoWriMo too. As for a location, there's a Starbucks on Sherman Avenue, and it's open until midnight. Any time after 2 pm is fine with me.

Great. I'm thinking evening like 6:30ish until whenever. The Starbucks that's right next to the metra/el stations? That's perfect! If you'd like to e-mail me directly, please do. My e-mail is blue_klh22@hotmail.com.
Any other Evanston writers out there want to join us?

I'm interested. Tuesdays I don't have classes, so I could probably meet for a couple of hours. Thursday afternoons (after 2) and weekends also work with my schedule.

We are meeting this Wednesday, 10/28/2009, at 7:00 P.M. at the Barnes and Noble in Evanston for our prompt group session. We will be given prompts at the meeting and the opportunity to write and then, if we wish, to share what we wrote. Please feel welcome to join us.

It's easy to get to by transit; take Metra or CTA north to Davis, then walk east on Davis to the corner of Sherman and it's there, on the Southwest side of the street. There are a number of places to grab dinner if you're hungry. We also tend to go out afterward together to chat.
Hope to see you there!

Okay, so because I want a routine and wish to not travel far I'm going to the Starbucks on the corner of Main Street and Chicago on Evanston every Monday thru Wednesday from 6:30 until whenever. If anyone wants to join me, please do...I'd love the company. Weekends I'm free to meet anywhere and any time in the Evanston area if anyone has some ideas for that.
Hope you see some writing peeps there!

That woud be great. I'll see you then.
As for Saturdays I'd love to set up a regular meetup for that. Maybe we could do a 3 hour session at Borders on the corner of maple and Church? How's that sound?

I have a couple of Saturdays off work this month - so I could show up for a Saturday session on the 7th and 21st. Anyone else a morning person and want to do early write ins?

I am absolutely a morning person. I could meet up Saturday the 7th. What time and where?

another morning person! Awesome!
what about 8 a.m. at the Starbucks on Main on the 7th?
Or - what time does Borders open? since the other Saturday session has already been suggested for there we could go there and be the "early crew".

I'd definitely be up for some of these meet-ups/write-ins. This is my second attempt and NaNoWriMo, and it's already off to a better start than my first.

It looks like the Border's at Maple and Church opens at 9am. I will plan to be there at 9am on the 7th, in the cafe area. That's practically mid-day for me. :) Anyone else want to be there early?

Note this event is from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M.; we will go out afterward to chat at a local restaurant and/or pub.
Also, note that it's not a write-in. Tomorrow's event is a critique group, where we critique workshop-style previously submitted work. If you think this is your "thing," by all means check us out.
If you want to write, show up anyway; there's plenty of room in the cafe downstairs and in chairs near where we work upstairs - just bring headphones and music, since it's a critique group and therefore, we talk.
And as you may have noticed, writers when not writing tend to talk. A lot.
Write on!

I just noticed this now, and I don't think it will be a problem, but thought I'd post FYI.
The Evanston Go Club meets at that Barnes and Noble at approximately the same time. They don't really take up that much room, but between them, Northwestern, and the town in general, it may get a bit tight there.
If any of you need a break though, ask for Mark to teach you how to play, and tell him I said hi!

Not a problem. We've been meeting there concurrently since, oh, August-ish. They're in the cafe, we're upstairs in the front at those big oak tables, annoying the lady with the laptop. :)

I might be able to go to the 9 am meetup on this Saturday (my only free Saturday this month...), but only for a little bit. Are people going to be writing on Sundays at all? Because I'd love to go to write-ins, especially if they were on Sundays.
Or Thursday mornings. Those work, too.
