I was hoping y'all could help me just a wee little bit.

As a side project during November (and actually, I'm more into this project than I am with my novel), I'm asking everybody to send me postcards from which I'll base a story.

All I'm asking is that the front of the postcard is actually a place of some sort (Parks, City Scapes, Monuments, Museums, etc.... whatever) and that on the back, you write a character name, the character's age, and a sentance or a few words about that character.

Stick it in the mail to me, and (starting November 1) when I get it, I will use the image on the front and the character on the back, to write a short story of at least 500 words. (Just think 100 postcards, and that's another 50,000 words right there.)

Send them to me:

1008 Jacksons Valley Rd
Hermitage, TN 37076

(feel free to pass this on to anyone else you know who'd be willing to help!)

What an excellent idea! As a member of Postcrossing and a contributor to the Fountain Pen Network postcard exchange program I'll be happy to get one of my cards out to you. I'll even break out one of my vintage cards for the occasion. :)

That's a really cool idea! I'm loving it. I'll see if I can't find anyone to send you anything from across the states.

A great idea. Our writers group uses post cards to generate short stories. Take two cards, a theme from each, and then smash them together to create a story.

Postcard Secret is on my Sunday routine, checking the latest weekly update. It is a constant revelation.

Oo so you'd take a postcard from anywhere so long as it has a location on it? (like Hawaii?) If so I'll be sending one over :)

Interesting idea. Reminds me a lot of PostSecret. I'll see if I can find any good postcards lying around. :)

CJ - your envelope was cool... I especially liked the guy who was "Single. Has a girlfriend who cant commit" LOL.
Actually, it sparked an idea and I'm trying (and failing miserably, btw) to combine him with the flighty wine drinker you sent me. LOL.

Do you need any more? I got a post card for you a little while ago but forgot to ever send it. Oops. I'm a ditz. But it's a cool and intriguing location, just doesn't have a character on it yet.

Oh, also, if you want it, should it be a male or female? Do you have an uneven amount of one or the other?
