I would like to explain what write-ins are for the newer members to NaNo and give some gentle reminders to those who are veterans.

Write-ins are an opportunity to write with others in a public setting. They are a great place to get encouragement, brainstorm, and blow off steam. I want to strongly encourage everyone to come to write-ins as there is a great correlation to those who make it to the 50k line and those who attend these events.

In addition to the posted events on the calendar if you are planning your own write-ins or are stopping to write for an hour sometime and you would like to have company, please post it in this forum for others to see. If it is more than a day in advance and you give me enough details like time and address I will add it to the google calendar.

Okay, it looks like there may be enough interest to try to have another horse/barn write-in. Last year, there were only 3 of us, so we put Crash on a horse and played on the Internet at my house and wrote for maaaybe 20 minutes. :-) Still, it was a lot of fun! We will play with horses, weather permitting, or if the weather is crummy, we'll pet a couple of noses and head over to the house for hot drinks and mad writing.

So, start posting if you're interested, and what day(s) work for you. We're looking at weekends, obviously, since there won't be enough daylight after work to see! I will most likely be gone the weekend of November 14, but have no plans other than that. I'll even be around Thanksgiving weekend (including Friday) if that works.

Allrighty--let me know your thoughts!

I should be available for any weekend besides the first one. I want to come play with the horses, especially since I'm so poor currently and can't afford to come ride. :( I miss Austin and Lacey. And you guys, of course. :D

It looks like Sunday the 22nd might be the date... it seems to work for everyone who's replied so far. We still need to hear from Crash and megfuzzle, at least, though, so we'll see if that works for them.

I would love to go for a horse write-in. I'll need some equine inspiration since I've already sent my baby girl to winter pasture. I can't just go cuddle with her any more. At least, not until next April.

I'll keep a look out for the final date/time.

Thanks for hosting this.

After checking with my own calendar (something I do usually _after_ I volunteer myself for something though I know full well it's supposed to be the other way around), I realized that my husband and I are supposed to go to the Broncos game on the afternoon of the 22nd. Whoops.

So, there are two options:
1. We pick a different day (though this seems to be the best one) or
2. We meet in the morning, say 9:00, which should give enough time for us to have fun with horses, write a short bit, and for me to get to the Broncos game on time.

What say you?

And, a thousand apologies for not figuring this out sooner!!

I'm ok either meeting in the morning or picking a different day, whichever works best for everyone else :)

I'm good with either solution. I'm sure I could drag my sorry but up that early on a Sunday and it won't actually kill me :)

Hi. I'm OK with 9 a.m. I'm usually up anyway. Also the 21st or the 8th (which I realize is kind of short notice) work for me. Or, if you are not gone the weekend of the 14th. I will be leaving for Texas the 25th for Thanksgiving. I can keep writing on the road, but can't really ride a horse on the road:) Thanks for doing this.

The 21st and 22nd both work for me. I may even attempt to bring Jamisyn (namesake of surprisephoenix's main character) along. She absolutely loves horses.

We still need a couple of people to chime in... How about moving the horse write-in to the 21st ?(um, I still need to check my calendar, but I *think* it's okay!) If that doesn't work for the couple of people who still need to reply, it looks like we can do the morning of the 22nd. Thanks for being flexible, all... you rock! And I hope you're rockin' on your novels!

Crash, I'd love to meet Jamisyn! I've now typed that name approximately 252 times, so I know how to spell it, even! :-)

I just wanted to say that I attended my first write in today. It was so nice to talk to other people who enjoy books and writing as much as I enjoy them. I have been out of college for about 14 years, and this is the first time I have had a chance to talk to anyone else who understood. I highly recommend attending a few of the write ins. Nanowrimo may be grueling, but it doesn't have to be lonely and grueling!

Thanks!

I'm getting back into town the night of the 21st so I can't do a write-in that day. If it gets moved to the 22nd in the morning, that'd be great, but if it works better for everyone else on the 21st, I can sit this one out :).

Well, fizzingwhizbee, you HAVE to come to the horse write-in this year (since you couldn't come last year), even if it's simply to get your word count boosted up or so that I can read you excerpts of Mandy in my book! Soooo.... let's keep it on the 22nd, since that seems to still work for everyone else, and just do it in the morning at 9:00. Cinnamon rolls, anyone? :-)

Um, you rock. I really appreciate you moving it for me, because I really want to be there! I can bring some breakfasty stuff as well, what do you think?

I'll be there for the Horse Write-In. Jamisyn (namesake of your main character) and my brother (her dad) will be tagging along for the horse festivities. She goes absolutely crazy for them.

I see that the horse write-in will be at 9 a.m. the 22nd, but I didn't see the location. Could you post that please. Would you like us to bring edibles?

I would love to attend a horse write-in; I'm new to the FoCo area, but I had to sell my own horse last year when I started college, so it would be nice to have some a bit of horsey contact.

The barn is in Wellington for the horse write-in. I will send a message to everyone who has posted here with specific directions. Figure about a half-hour driving time to get there. Also, be sure to post here if you need a ride/want to carpool, so we can work something out so everyone can make it!! And be sure to put your order in for good weather that day, so it'll be more fun!

Ok, I've tried really hard and gone to my third write-in today. I'm finding it impossible to approach people. I tried putting the Noveling machine sticker on my computer with my little ninja keeping me company, but I'm writing in at locations all by myself.

Does anyone else have this problem or am I just way too super-shy?

I live on the south side of Fort Collins, would anyone want to try to meet me to 'write-in'? With two kids, it's hard to do unless it's the evening, but I have a lot of trouble staying focused when it's just me...I feel like I'm doing this all alone!

Right now, I'm at Moxie Java for the write-in and it doesn't seem like anyone else is really here...I want to go to write-ins where I actually meet some fellow NaNoers.

LKHart, I'm sorry you're having trouble with the write-ins. Each one I've been at has had quite a few people, but I can never make it to the T-W-Th ones because of work. Usually Jewels (zomby13) and Molly are at every one I've been at. I've hit a slump and was just telling my husband that I need a word war. If you want to get together to write, let me know. I also live on the south side of Fort Collins. I'll shoot you an email with my contact information.

LKHart, I also live on the south side. I'm practically in Loveland.

If you want to get together sometime, feel free to drop me a line. I haven't been out to the Moxie Java write-in yet since it's on the opposite side of the south end for me, but if you plan on going again next week, I'll make sure I head out there. It's pretty much the same driving distance for me as the rest of the write-ins so its not a big deal.

LKHart, I too am sorry you're having trouble getting to know fellow NaNos! I pretty regularly go to the write-ins at the libraries on Sunday, and the Monday & Tuesday night ones. Might even make the Friday night one a time or two. Because I'm mostly on a bike and live in the NW part of town, I don't go to the Moxie Java write-ins as they're a bit far. Are you going to the Council Tree library write-in this Sunday? There are usually a lot of people there! If you come to the Mon or Tues write-ins I can guarantee someone will talk to you, probably more than you want, in fact. ;)

LKHart:

I've done some of my writing at Panera on college. Plan to be there Friday. I'm usually around late morning or early afternoon. I'm there at other random times too, but usually daytime hours or during the weekend.

Keep writing!

There will be a write-in in Loveland next Wednesday from 3-6 p.m. at the Coffee Tree at 422 E. 4th. Please join us. We are a small group, there were three of us this week and we will be sitting by the windows. Impossible to miss as it is a small coffee shop.We would love to see you there:) All are welcome, but there are limited outlets. Power strips are a good idea.

I have the same problem. I live over by Catalyst Coffee and am planning on being there on Saturday afternoon and also at the Night of Writing Dangerously. Maybe we can hook up this weekend.
