Hi all,

Bookman's isn't too close to me, so I don't know how many events I'll be able to attend there. I'm in Sun City, but can easily get to Peoria, Glendale, Surprise.

If anyone is interested in a weekly write in on Wednesdays at the B&N or Borders on Bell Road, let me know and we'll make it happen. Wednesdays don't conflict with the standing Phoenix events, so there's no concern there.

I would love to be able to, but I'm in class from 8:30 AM until 8:30 PM on Wednesdays, basically. :(

West Side Wednesdays sure sound like a plan to me. Late afternoon and beyond is the only option for me though, seeing as for some reason, my silly momma won't let me skip school for extra NaNo time. Who would've thunk? ;)

Borders at 75th Ave & Bell is my favorite place to write. Please let me know if the Write-in is a go. Thanks!

Can we make it a bit closer to the 10? Bell and 75th is a 30 min drive for me.

There is a Borders right off 99th and the 10/101 stack (10100 W. McDowell Rd. Avondale, AZ 85392 if you want to Googlemap it) if that's more convenient.

I don't have a job at the moment, so the closer the meet up place the better. The Borders on 101 and McDowell would work for me. Are you thinking of this coming Wed? I have a writer's group the first Wed of each month, but I would be able to make the other Wed. Write-ins.
Thanks,
Nikki

That borders works for me. Is that ok with everyone? I think its the most central borders since we have people like myself and a few others who are in Litchfield/Avondale area.

There are also some of us WriMos out in the Surprise/Sun City area. There is a B/N at Grand and Bell... Any takers?

I'm like Psotos, I live out in the Litchfield Area, and going out to Bell is... Eesh for me. I hate to suggest this, but perhaps we could split the groups? Those who would do better at a Bell road location and those who'd perfer an Avondale location? We could alternate the days, or pick a different day for those who can, and wish to, make both are able to do so... I'm just throwing this out as a way to make things easier for everyone....

The Borders near Litchfield works way better for me. I'm very much at the mercy of my momma as far as driving anywhere goes.. And I'd be hard-pressed to convince her to go much farther than Borders. If another location works better for the majority, I have no objections, though I'll be quite unlikely to show up. >.<

And that's my two cents. :)

Well we can carpool if you like.

I think the Borders at McDowell, even though its farther than litchfield for me, seems to work for most people. I would rather have more people attend, which is what its all about: Camaraderie, then have tiny little splinter groups.

For the people in Surprise, etc. Its only 15 minutes (which is what I will be driving too) to the McDowell Location.

Does this sound reasonable?

You mean the BnN on Litchfield and McDowell? That would actually work better for me as well...

Edit: Nevermind. If it's at the Borders at 99th it's still fine.

Hi All you Westies,
Sorry for starting this thread and then disappearing. I was stuck in a fantastic snow storm in Canyon de Chelly and just got back. Snow in Arizona ... who knew!!

Anyway, the West Side Wednesday Write-Ins will be at :

-- Borders at 73rd Ave & Bell, or
-- Barnes & Noble, 76th & Bell

I will call them both tomorrow to see which one will work best. It seems like an evening-ish time is favored, so 7 to 9 pm? Too late? Too early? Just right? Let me know.

I'll post again tomorrow after I get more info.

Wow I think your post ignored what we had all been talking about....finding a centralized location.

So I am guessing we are going for splinter groups then.

I am recommending the Starbucks that we all met at for the first West Sides meeting:
Mc Dowell & 99th, Avondale
10030 W McDowell Rd, Ste 160
Avondale, AZ 853234858

Or the Borders since they are very close to each other:
10100 W. McDowell Road
Avondale, AZ 85323

Can I get an RSVP for that one?

If we're just allowed to throw out suggestions for a location now, then I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest the Barnes and Noble on Litchfield and McDowell:

1446 N. Litchfield Road
Goodyear, AZ 85338

Admittedly, the only reason I suggest this location is because it's the absolute shortest distance from my house, but if there are any other takers... :) It's got a nice Starbucks coffee area, with tables right by some outlets if laptop charging is a problem to anyone. Otherwise, the best location for me would be the Starbucks or Borders locations suggested by psotos. The two locations on Bell just... aren't an option for me. :(

And I've been reminded by the Momma that she teaches RE classes on Wednesdays after school, so I'll have to see what time those end post haste.

But in all honesty, whatever's decided on is good with me. I've got two other family members doing NaNo with me this year, so if I end up missing out on the write-ins, it's no sweat. :)

Hi there, I did read everyone's posts. I'm sorry if you think I ignored you, but I think you may have misunderstand my original post.

I will be writing on Wednesday's at Borders on 73rd and Bell. If anyone can join me, that would be great. It's just a casual get together to share the creative muse, and keep our enthusiasm going strong. It's not intended to exclude anyone or be a splinter group. It was just meant as an add on to the events that RozeeCheeks has worked so hard to organize for us. I hope I didn't offend anyone if my post did sound like I was suggesting a splinter group. I think that would be divisive and contrary to the spirit of Nanowrimo. I also think it would be an insult to Rozee as our ML.

Unfortunately, in an area as spread out as ours, there's no such thing as a centralized location. I won't be able to make it to most of the write-ins at Bookman's, so I was hoping I could share the love with some other Nano participants at another time and place.

I hope that's a little more clear, and if I did offend anyone, please accept my apologies.

Olivia

I'll stop at the Borders on Bell on my way home from work...probably around 3:30pm. This is my first NaNoWriMo, and I am very excited to get started!

Wednesday evenings in Surpise would be great! I'm in youngtown and bookman's is far for me unless i went right after work which hubby might object to. He actually misses me when i'm gone.

Feeling like a neglected west sider, I'm super excited to see multiple options for west side meetings!

I'd like to join the McDowell/99th Ave group/Litchfield group for Wednesday evenings... First preference being the McDowell 99th Starbucks or Barnes and Nobles.

Should we cement a west of west location for Wednesday evenings, I will be there with bells on. Actally, there will be no bells. But I will bring a laptop. ;-)

For what it's worth, I've worked from both locations. The Borders has next to no power outlets in the cafe. Barnes and Noble has a much better setup at least in terms of power sources. Other than that, I have no vested interest in one location over the other. Hope to join you on a couple of the Wed nights this month.

I would prefer the Barnes and Noble in Goodyear off of LItchfield Road, but that's only because I can walk across the street. I can drive down to the Borders on McDowell but I much prefer the setup of Barnes and Noble and Starbucks Coffee.

I don't get home from work until about 5:30 or 6:00 in the evening. (I work as a teacher and my contract hours are until 4:30 and its an hour drive home), so going all the way to Bell for me just plain isn't going to happen (sorry to put it so bluntly), but that's a bit far for me in the middle of the work week.

I don't see anything wrong with splitting into two groups - those closest to Bell and those who are right by the 10. We could always do West Side Wednesdays as two groups and then schedule a weekend meetup for all of us the west side (at a time that doesn't conflict with the phx meetups of course) if everyone wants to get together.

I'm in, I live a little further out, but its closer than most of the other events that are going on. Be happy to meet at any B&N thats closer to Avondale where I live--plus I get Wednesdays off most of the time (Seasonal Contract worker). :) If anyone wants to meet up at the B&N on Litchfield and McDowell let me know (although I might already be there--spend most of my down time at the store in the cafe). :)
