I'm not officially hosting anything, but my current plan is to head directly from work to Lestat's every day (except Monday). And write there for at least a few hours. If anyone cares to join me, feel free. I'll bring my black cloak and drape it over the back of my chair so you can find me.
I might switch my location to Pete's on Nobel, depending on how bad getting to Lestat's is.

If you write at Peet's instead of Lestat's, I might consider going there regularly to write. :) It's only two shuttle-stops away from UCSD, where I have class everyday.

If not, I'll be trying to find a good place to do daily writing spurts at school. My usual haunt is PC East, but my schedule has been crazy out of whack, and I'll only this Friday be "fixing" it.

Oh, I should probably mention times. I get off work around 5:30-ish. Not sure how long it'll take me to get to Lestat's.

Do you mean the Peet's by Pet People and Whole Foods? I could probably get there most days 5:30-ish.

That is the place I was talking about. And since people seem more interested in meeting there than at Lestat's (and it's 5 minutes away, compared to who knows how long), I'll go there to hang out instead.

Summary:
Every weekday except Mondays, I'll be at Peet's Coffee (at Villa La Jolla Drive/Nobel Drive) a little after 5:30.
I'll drape my black cloak over a chair so people can find me.

No: Peet's Nov. 2 @ 5:30-ish p.m.

Shoot, I left my cloak at home. Sorry. Look for the guy in a dark blue polo shirt. I'll try to hang my leather satchel over the back of my chair so it will be noticable (It's no cloak, but it'll have to do).

Okay. I have my cloak this time.
I won't be there tomorrow, though. But I'll be there today and Thursday.

Silly question from a total newbie--what are write-ins like? More social than writing? Everyone plugging away at their computers? Just want to be sure that I don't end up totally annoying someone if I end up going to one! Would a non-writing friend or boyfriend feel out of place? Thanks!

Not a silly question at all, minkuti! Write-ins tend to differ a lot. The write-ins at the Ink Spot tend to be very serious business qriting events, without talking during the writing portion. However, some of the other write-ins are much more casual, with chatting and writing at the same time. :)

Minkuti, I'll add this - I participate in a lot of write-ins, but rarely actually write.

In fact, I am moderately notorious about talking with people and preventing *them* from writing. But while I get a bit of good natured teasing, I *always* finding willing participants in non-writing.

Plus, a lot of people at the write-ins will be productive for a period and then want to let off steam.

Or, as I prefer, to use the write-ins to bounce ideas off other people.

Anyway, at many of the write-ins, you shouldn't have any problems.

Ever see that quip on FAMILY GUY about the two screenwriters in a coffee shop talking about how important it is to be "seen" writing with their laptops? ;)
