Heeeere.

I'm in so many fandoms that I can't even start counting them, I'm a fandom butterfly, and I'm not ashamed to say it, haha.

I do not life giraffes, for they are taller than I am. I would prefer to be known as a fandom gazelle. That makes it sound like something majestic and fleeing-from-lions.

Fandom is the whole reason I started to write, and I'm still heavily embroiled in the various plots and characters that come along with that obsession. Right now for me it's Supernatural as the mainstream one, and lots of tiny obscure fandoms that I adore skimming through so I can bitch about how horrible everything is. Simple pleasures, I have them.

*raises hand* Lois and Clark: The new Adventures of Superman was my first fandom and the first show i ever wrote a fanfiction for. Now its csi miami for me. Originally i wasn't planning on signing up for nano becuase i had a story i've been working on for 3 years (and 230+ pages) that suddenly i had a big case of writer's block on. So i started plotting this new bunny i had out and realized it was a bugger of one. Got talked into signing up and now here i am. Hope this bunny's gonna still be as talkative when it comes to time to acutally write....

Same here! :D But it wasn't my first fandom, my first fandom was Full House. I never came across anything I was unsatisfied with for that show, so I never did anything MY way until L&C.

Look forward to your CSI: Miami work!

LOL.. *jumps up and down with hand raised* I LOVE writing fanfiction and reading it too.
It started out about 10 years ago now, I was in one of my classes (I was in high school) reading one of those like Tribute or Famous Players magazines that you get at the movies with a friend (my school had one of the magazines stocked up each month, so we didn't have to go to the movies to look at it lol) and there was an article with this band called the Moffatts (brother canadian band for those who don't know who they are. they are my age) and one of them had mentioned that on their website they have a forum area and a Story Time forum where their fans wrote stories about them and that atleast one of them would go and read how their fans wrote them like. LOL. that day I had gone home went on the forum and immediately joined like 20 stories LOL.

I still talk/write with a few of the people I met on their boards so long ago. I then went onto writing some Harry Potter fanfictions.. and tried a few Lord of the Rings, but they failed due to lack of interest. haha. I still read Harry Potter fictions, but have stopped writing them. One friend I write with we got into writing about Orlando Bloom and Dominic Monaghan in our fanfictions, but making them brothers in most of them lol. <3 I love those fics, haha.

There were a few years where I stopped writing all fanfictions, just because I never knew what I wanted to write, I'd come up with an idea and then two posts in I didn't like it anymore. Or when it came to writing with my friends we couldn't agree on the same plot and couldn't come up with a good way to intertwine our plots and yeah. But recently I've gotten back into my fiction writing, and am SO excited to start this on sunday night, lol.

I wrote some AWFUL fanfiction when I was about thirteen. Really, it was terrible.

I've attempted to write some LOST fanfiction (I'm a hardcore Sawyer/Kate shipper and totally am not ashamed of it) but it never worked out well enough for me to post it online.

First was Star Wars, then Star Trek: Voyager, for fanfiction. Now, I love Harry Potter & Star Trek 2009 fanfiction. Basically, it's great to have romance with fun other bits of magic/technology/whatever. But it's romance. I'm so nerdy, it's terrible, lol.

Oh well, whatever makes you happy, right?

My first fandom was Gundam Wing.. so many bad ideas for that one that I didn't dare post half of them. Moved onto Buffy for a while, still dabble in it occasionally, although I'm not such a hardcore shipper that I was. Trying to get a few Naruto fics finished at the moment. Although if I'm curious about the fandom, then I'll watch it and read some fic for it. I also like Doctor Who but I read a lot of other fandoms. As I said, if it gets my interest, then I'll read it.

I love crossovers, specially when it's one fandom I like and one that I don't know.

I'm a multi-shipper as well. I don't bother with OTPs... don't really see the point in them. I used to, but not anymore.

I am part of many fandoms at the moment, but one of my favorites is the video game, Fire Emblem. Anyone heard of it? <3

I'm also still a big part of the Naruto fandom, along with... Artemis fowl. 8D

Yeah, I really have too many to list, but those are just examples.

I'm not quite sure what makes me so ashamed of fandom. Like the more I get into something, the more I feel shy about it and don't want to tell anyone, ever, especially the people closest to me, until it just becomes a very intense, very guilty pleasure.
Seriously, what causes that mentality? Maybe it's just that I don't want to be considered one of "those" people, the ones that talk your ear off about their fandoms when you really don't even know or have any interest in what they're on about. Or maybe it's that I'm selfish and want to keep my fandoms all to myself. Or maybe it's just that it would be downright weird if I discovered a friend or family member was into the same stuff I was. I really don't know.

Do crackfic and meta count as fandoms? If so, I'm in.

Also, may I use this chance to say how I despise the divisiveness of the term fandom? Not the community itself (though there are those people, you know), but the use of the term. "I'm in fandom." "They're not in fandom; they wouldn't understand." The term simply means fans of a specific thing. Everyone is a fan of *something*, even if they don't read or write fanfiction or draw fan art or things like that. Granted, I have a much looser definition of fandom than most people. We are all in fandom, whether we recognize it or not.

Anime and Disney.

My very first fandom was Donald Duck. He's still my favorite animated character of all time.

I've written Legend of Zelda, Star Wars, and Neopets fanfiction. I actually once wrote Neopets fanfic for Nanowrimo. I recently dug it up and it's actually...READABLE. So after November is over I'm going to spend NaNoEdMo polishing that fic and submit it to the Neopian Times. :P

My participation in the anime fandom includes editing AMVs....and I'm a closet cosplayer. (shhhhhhhh don't tell anyone!) One of these days I'm going to make my husband a mecha pilot uniform before his metabolism slows down. For better or for worse he has that "bishounen build" (aka "emaciated")...though I swear he eats more than I do!

And no one plays Disney Trivial Pursuit/Name That Tune/Scene It/Charades with me anymore. :( I always win. :P

Fandom is what got me seriously writing in high school - also got me THROUGH high school, but we won't go there. I wrote before that, of course, but fandom gave me the courage to trying writing a novel, and I managed to finish several. They're really bad when I read back over them, but it led to me giving my original ideas a go, and I've never looked back. So while I don't write fanfiction anymore, I don't regret having written it when I actually did.

I was in The Fast and The Furious fandom - LOVE that movie like crazy. These days, I just fangirl over it, Bones, The Big Bang Theory, The Mighty Boosh and Rachel Vincent's Shifters series. And someone else mentioned The Amazing Race, which I go nuts over.

Edincoat - I had a friend in high school who could do an awesome gazelle impression. XD Thank you for reminding me of it.

whiteravenxi - ah. well. Fandom is a catch-all term for all sorts of activities that fans participate in, from discussing the source material, writing fanfiction about it, drawing fanart, making vids, etc. It's also a term that denotes any fannish community. If people are really 'fannish' about books, then you could say they are in literary fandom, in a general sense, or be more specific and say they are in Good Omens fandom. Basically, the Fan is the person and the Fandom is the community. ^_^ If you want to look into it more, I'd suggest poking around livejournal since that seems to be where the bulk of the various communities are at the moment. (they used to be found on mailing lists, usenet, self-published zines, etc)

Sara Zee - Animorphs! Oh, I loved that series as a kid. It was my first obsession. XD

Definitely Merlin. I fangirl over that so hard. XD

And then NCIS , Harry Potter, and Repo! The Genetic Opera. Yep. I'm obsessed. It's bad. So bad, that when I went to Build-A-Bear, I made a Merlin Bear. No lie.

I'm such a nerd =p
