And that's a check here.

I'm in Wagga. I also know there are some more people that are from Wagga as well.

Yup, I'm back again.

And I have a trailing little group of NaNo recruits, but I'm not sure whether some of them will make an appearance in the forums. :-)

Hi, not from there, but I used to be, still have family in West Wyalong.

So I guess you can count me in, by proxy.

Yeah we should. Guess we're not going to make a pre-nano meetup, but at least we can have one while doing nano. What about having one on the 7th of November? That would sound good. Or at least after the exams for some people. That would be even better.

Too late for a pre-nano meet up - 15 mins left.

But the 7th sounds good. Pick a place - in town or at someones house - I'm happy to hold a write-in at my place if you'd like - just bring something to write with.......i'll also supply food and coffee.

Also maybe we could do one on the weekend of the 21st and 22nd or even the 28th/29th for the final push. Interested?

I'M HERE!
I'm actually about an hour or two from Wagga - I'm 40 minutes from Griffith, 90k from Hay. So glad to have other NaNo-ers in the Riv <3

I'm also from Waggatown and would love to get together with fellow Riverinians. It's so good to see so many people from around here!

I'd love to go to the write-in on the 7th, but I can't... I'll be on stage! I'm in "25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee". You guys should come see it.

How's everyone's novel coming along?

Are you in that? Awesome! I'm a massive musical nut and have been a fan of the Spelling Bee cast recording for the past few months. I will definitely be coming to see it sometime (or maybe two or three) in the next few weeks.

As for the novel, I'm continuing my habit from last year of erratic word count widget updates. I just... forget. Or can't be bothered. It's not good. Anyway, I'm just over 7k and today I wrote a really shocking scene I hadn't been planning where a four year old girl witnesses her mother having a miscarriage with no one around and she doesn't know what's going on or what to do. I was disturbed and upset while I was writing it because it just came from nowhere. That's never happened to me before. Writing is a strange beast.

I hear ya. I sat down at the beginning of this thing having literally NO idea what to write. Here we are 5 days later, and my protagonist has been engaged in sex, murder, drug running and is currently in the process of fighting off TWO rapists! I would have had no clue it was going to be this dark - but that's just what came out, ya know?

If you're coming to see Spelling Bee, you should volunteer to be one of the spellers ;)

Hey all! How are we going? Obviously I'm ridiculously behind, but I still intend to make it to 50k. :-) Whether or not my novel will be any good, of course, is another matter entirely.

I should be about halfway through. It isn't work that's interfering with my writing, the heat is.

I've been lucky and unluky in some ways. I've reached over 50,000 but have finished my novel......alas i now have no idea what to do with the rest of the month, at least novelling-wise, I think i may start a series of one-shots just to fill in time.

Anyone got some ideas/challenges i could work on?

I write just about anything really. I prefer historical works, but am happy to write anything.

(Oh, and it's a bit hard to write the sequel when you MC's dies)

Funny you should say that, as one of my Works in Progress is a sequel to a story which ends with the MC dying, the sequel centres around some secondary characters who carry on in the traditions of the MC. And I've got another series where the two MCs in the first couple of books die in the later books, but after they hand over to another MC.

Anyway, on a different note - here's a starter idea from my 'to do at sometime pile' want to see if you can do something with it, be free to add extra characters, or remove a few - but, it'd be interesting to see what you come up with from the basics - anyone else is free to have a go at it too.

quote

St Bernadet's Bus Load

I was driving this bus load of forty Junior High girls from St Bernadet's School up to the retreat the Diocese has up in the mountains with a nice young nun, a novitiate, and Sister Agnes in charge. It was a nice easy run with the ladies keeping the girls fairly quiet, until we reached Deer Meadow. As we entered the open area of the meadow my eyes popped open wide, as did everyone else's; sitting in the middle of the meadow was a big flying saucer with a bunch of little green men around it. Two turned and looked at us. One raised a strange looking device and I blacked out.

Waking up, I looked around to see we're all here and in the bus, but no longer in the forest. The bus is sitting on top of a huge hill in the middle of this lovely green plains. I hear a 'Hrumph,' and look down at the bottom step of the bus.

There stands a little green alien, he says, "I'm sorry, but we couldn't allow you to stay in your time and tell them about us. We've attached a large trailer with everything we think you need to survive and thrive in this place and this time. The dinosaurs are long gone, but humans haven't moved into this area yet. You're about ten thousand years before you were before. Have a nice day." And he was gone.

I turned to look at the three sisters standing in the aisle behind me. As I go to speak Sister Agnes says, "Damn, and faints." I look down the bus at the stunned looks on the forty good looking nubile girls and the two good looking young women, and me as the only male.

Smiling, I stand up and say, "Well ladies, it looks like I'm in charge now. There will be a lot of hard work, and a lot of fun."

end quote

I can work with that. Already starting with the ideas. Bad humor and slapstick comedy shall abound. Will have to edit the first part to fit in with my style of writing though.

Rejoins the novelling world after a short respite from normality and into the world of crazy non-nanoing. It was a strange place.

I ended up seeing it a few times (... I think I've already said too much) and finally told myself I would put my name down to spell tonight. (Ignoring the fact that I am abysmal at spelling, it just looked like so much fun to be up there!) However, I was foiled in my plan. I had trouble picking up my tickets and then paying and by the time I went to skip over to the registration table, the lady had gathered up her things and walked away. I felt like falling to my knees and doing a big dramatic "NOOOOOOOO!!!" in the foyer of the Civic Theatre.

Anywho, fantastic show. Really wonderful. I am always in awe of the talented performers we have in our small city.

Also, the Star Trek joke never gets old. XD

I'm close to finishing, only got two or three scenes left, got to sleep on them, but the word count is 50,328 - so I think I'll hit target. Then I get to start on the sequel.

It's gone, finally finished the final scene - for this story - ended up at 53,944 words to say all i wanted to say in this one. yes, there will be a sequel, and I'm not waiting until next year's NaNo to do it either. I had thought about running straight on, but will leave it for a few weeks, I think I've got an easy three or four books in this story line, so I'll get them done between now and next year's NaNo. I'll also get them published too, one way or another.
