XD

I'm technically in Thames.. but I go over to Hamilton fairly frequently for social events, I'd love to come to something if I can seeing as I believe there's only two of us here in the Coromandel. I won't be able to do anything for the 1st Nov though... already double booked as it is..

Hiya!

Officially a BOP girl but frequently in Hamilton for visits - plus planning on moving there next year.

So I'd be keen to meet up with the group!!!

I'm in Te Aroha. I'll watch this thread for any meetups, but probably won't be able to make them as I'm drivers licence deficient ;)

Awesome!

*joins mosh pit*

I'm unavailiable for the 1st as well, I think.

What days would suit people best, for those of you keen for a meet up? Weekend? During the week? Day, afternoon, evening?

I'm going to suggest a mid-way through meetup, that is, sat 14 or sun 15 nov. Just cause I was staring at my calendar and that's what jumped out at me. Lol. Thoughts?

I'm not sure why I'm attempting to organise something, I'm a pretty bad at organising anything but myself xD

Would be great to meet some others!

Middle of the month, on a weekend sounds good.. that'll give me time to poke my Hamilton friends for a couch to sleep on. :)

Oh, thank squid! I feared I was the only one! *collapses in a trembly pile of relief*

Might not be able to make any meetups, due to busyness, but I can certainly try! =D

Alex - um. Hard? Well. It's ... interesting. Yes. 'Interesting' is one word for it.

I live in Central Hamilton myself. I tried writing a novel eight years ago, and burned out after four and a half chapters. This time I have more of a plan for what I'm writing, but writing two pages a day for a month is still a huge commitment, particularly since I have at least one assignment to work on, a Scrabble tournament and another event at the end of the month. Might be easier with a little encouragement from other locals.

Another Hamiltonian here, and since I wasn't able to meet anyone last year I'd be keen for any group meets, pretty much any time during the month

So at this stage we're looking at Sunday the 15th I believe. Perhaps lunch in a cafe somewhere, I gather that's what happened last year (though I missed it myself).

*sighs* Damnit. Looks like I can't come over for this, my baby scooter needs a service and an oil change next week. He's coughing and spluttering something awful. Well, you folks have fun Sunday week. :3

So is this still happening? I seem to have found myself being dragged to Hamilton that weekend by some friends with moneys... if this is still happening can I have details so I can see if I can make it? (Where, when, etc. ... hopefully somewhere in the central city or Frankton.. or at least facilitated by the bus system...?)

Wow, so much interest from Hamilton this year! Last year there was only five of us. Wish I was doing NaNo this year too!

It's all very well talking about it, but there certainly haven't been any hard and fast suggestions. We could have a write-in at the Central Library; what better place to promote writing literature? Maybe lunch at a nearby cafe (the Garden Cafe is quite good).

fuuuuuuu third time i erased this comment.

basically.

life + more life = nano for Gem not even STARTED (am starting as soon as i post this..)

sorry for not being on here, i suggested a meet up then like disappeared leaving it all up in the air. my bad.

i propose: central library and garden cafe, as was suggested in the previous post. meet up at garden cafe around 1pm (can be earlier or later, discuss! or 1pm it will be) introductions, eat, load up on caffeine (or at least i will lol) chat - hopefully, or i will start rambling to break the silence, once everyone is satisfied/ready, a stroll up to the library (netcafe is right next door if people want to use that, but library has computers/internet you can use if you are a member) for a write in.

That sounds good. What day, exactly? Has to be Saturday or Sunday for me, as I have class the rest of the week (although admittedly we're not doing much right now). I don't think the cafe's open on Sundays, either (not surprisingly). There are plenty of other cafes in the immediate area.

i think most people were happy with Sunday? I would prefer sunday, (the 15th)

As for cafes, if the garden cafe isn't open, does anyone else know of a good cafe close by? I can only think of the big name cafes, Robert Harris, Esquires, Starbucks (I vote no for Starbucks...) etc. I used to know hamilton central so well, but I don't go there the same anymore.

Swirl (the crepe place) in Centreplace comes to mind if a good lunch is wanted. Coffee's not particularly great, but then I don't like the Orb brand of coffee. Possibly the place in Alexandra St which has the French dog would be good too -- it used to be called Paris, I think, but I don't know its new name.

Will it still be 1pm on Sunday at the central library as a meetup point? I will attend, I just need to know where.

Cheers
