IANYML (I Am Not Your Municipal Liason), but who's up for a combination kick-off/write-in this weekend? We could do a midnight Saturday write-in (as a lot of excited people tend to want do, although it's Halloween night), or possibly a Sunday write-in. Any preferences for day/time?
According to another thread, there's a room in the Yonkers library booked for NaNo for some weekends, but the booked time for this weekend is too early for writing (iirc, it's Saturday afternoon, 2 hours), so we'll have to look for somewhere else if we want to write-in and get off to good starts.
I've got no other ideas for venues, so if anyone else does, please throw them out here! It'll have to have room for...I don't know, maybe at least ten people? more?, not mind us hanging around for hours, and preferably have wifi and outlets for laptops. The nearby availability of caffeinated beverages would be a plus, too.

Yes, I think this is a great idea!
Sunday during the afternoon at the Peekskill Coffee House might be an option. On the other thread multiple people mentioned it as a feasible location, and Sunday afternoon will let those of us who were at Halloween parties sleep it off. They're open until 6, so maybe something like 3-6?
Another option: a local Panera?

I'm in for Sundsay afternoon at the Peekskill Coffee House -- going there this morning, so I'll check to make sure that they don't have something scheduled (they usually don't on Sunday afternoons, but it's better to be sure).
Anyone else interested?

If we go to the Peekskill Coffee House at 3:00, any musical events they might have had will be over, so that's ideal.
A head count would be helpful, so that if we're going to have more than four or five people, I can call the Coffee House and they'll put some tables together for us.
So, who's on for November 1, 3-6, at the Peekskill Coffee House? A chance to meet your fellow NaNo's and get started on that word count!

I'm in, as long as someone can provide me the address of the coffeehouse and some assurance that there'll be somewhere to put my car that won't cost a fortune...

I'm in as well.
Parking shouldn't be a problem - there's usually parking on the streets in Peekskill that just costs a few quarters into the parking meter, especially if you don't mind walking a few blocks.
The address: 101 South Division Street (at Brown Street), Peekskill, NY 10566, is located in downtown Peekskill, across from the Paramount Theater and Center for the Arts.

I'd like to come, sounds like fun, but I'm not sure I'll be able to. Peekskill is a longish drive from lower Westchester. Will try, though.
In future, any chance of meeting somewhere a little more central, like the White Plains area?

I would also be totally good with meetups in White Plains, although we might have a harder time finding somewhere to meet there that wouldn't already be packed.

It is great that folks are meeting this weekend. I can not make it on Sunday, but I am looking forward to other write-ins, maybe at the Panera in Yorktown--We met there last year and it is a great place to meet. They let you stay forever and there is free wireless.

I'd love to meet at Panera in Yorktown! Snapgirl, let me know when. Weekdays work for me too (I'm a SAHM).

Never miss the chance to add to word count! You never know when you'll need some extra!
Sorry I won't be there at the Coffee House this afternoon; I'll be on the road. But I'll be with you guys in spirit, and will try to set up another at the Coffee House, if people are interested.

Sigh...on second thought, I don't think I'm going to make it to the write-in today. Peekskill is just...a little too far for me. I hope you guys have fun though! Next weekend, perhaps we can run an upper Westchester write-in, and a lower Westchester one...

Hi all,
I'd love to hear about any writing sessions. I'm hoping to attend a few of the Saturday afternoon sessions at the Yonkers library but would be open to others as well.
I'm in Yonkers and it seems like there are a few others on this board that are also in lower Westchester. Any ideas of places nearby to meet? I'll post if I think of someplace that could accommodate a small group.
Thanks,
Laura
