The Garden State Horror Writers is a writing organization that meets monthly in the Manalapan area and is open to all genres of fiction, including science fiction, fantasy, horror, mystery, crime, and all the sub-categories thereof. The writing skills of members vary from just starting out to published novelists. Every one is welcome to attend, and there is a membership fee if you wish to join, which includes the group's newsletter, members' only summer and holiday parties and other fine benefits.
Each month, the GSHW has a guest speaker come and talk about an aspect of writing, from the craft of writing to the business end. Previous guests have been Ellen Datlow, Keith DeCandido, Jack Ketchum, Jeffrey Ford, Elizabeth Bear, F. Paul Wilson, Sarah Langan, Greg Frost, and many others.
Their website is www.gshw.net
Right now they meet at the Monmouth County Library Headquarters in Manalapan, but starting in January, they're moving to the East Brunswick Library.
If you've any questions, please ask. I've been a member since 2003 and president from 2006-2008.
