I know it's a long shot, but does anyone in the area have a spare power cord for a G4 Powerbook?
My bad luck has picked a wonderful time to rear its ugly head. I have a feeling the cord is finally dead for good (please let it be the cord and not the computer itself...) and it'll be at least a couple of weeks until I can get a new one. So if anyone happens to have a spare I could borrow for a bit, it would be a HUGE help.

Have you tried Springboard Media? Perhaps they might sell them. Or you could try Media Center which has a good Apple department.

What model Powerbook is it. Titanium? White Body? Or the Black Body?
What does the connector look like? Circular? Rectangle?
If it's the Black Body (or the old style circular connections), I may be able to help.

G4 Aluminum. The circular kind.

Sorry Elisha, I don't have one. Why is it that these things know to happen right at the very end of October?

i've got the same computer, but sadly, no spare cable. there's a micro center on 30 by the bed bath and beyond/genuardi's in wayne; they no longer carry spare parts for g4s at the apple store, so that's where the dudes in ardmore told me to go.

Fate, I suppose. The writing gods are testing us, checking to see if we have the mettle to pull off this minor miracle. Now, I've been fighting a stubborn cold for the last couple of days that's had me plenty wiped out, but I'm not gonna let that stop me from getting started on NaNoWriMo!

I had a professor of New Testament in seminary who used to wear a T-shirt that read:
"To err is human, To really foul up requires a computer."
I'm sorry to hear off all the computer problems, flue, and feeling one doesn't fit into a new school far from home.
I've known all three...each is frustrating.
For me...each Nano brings equal parts of enthusiasm and resistance to writing. The big question in my life is which will win. Twisted bodies, twisted minds and crappy computers. It must be nanowrimo time.
