I know this is pretty late to be asking, but are there any other Napa Valley Writers out there? I can't get to Sonoma or Marin Counties, but might like to meet up closer to home.

And I thought there were no Nano-ers in Napa County. I live up in Angwin, but truck over to Santa Rosa for school and spend most my time there as a result. Whereabouts are you?

I didn't realize Napa Valley wasn't covered by its own region. I'm glad you started a Napa Valley thread.
And if you schedule any write-ins in Calistoga...I'll be there in a heartbeat!
Happy Writing,

Calistoga would be pretty easy for me, so maybe a few mini-write-ins if suzy is able to make it up there?

My life just got very complicated, and I'm going to have trouble just sitting at my desk at home, for awhile at least. Maybe we can do a Calistoga (or St. Helena?) meet-up a bit later. I'd love to meet some other NaNo-ers.

I am down basically any days other than Tuesday through Thursday after 3, so let me know when you have some free time and we'll get something planned. (:

Hi,
I live in Napa.. I'm originally from Britain but California is now my home. :-) I'm 25 and live with my husband who is an architect. I'm looking for writing buddies, but I was too shy to introduce myself on the other forums lol. Nice to meet you!

Hi Josey! Another Napa NaNoer! I'm so glad to meet you. I'm 65, have lived here for nearly 30 years, and my daughter lives in Britain (Edinburgh). This is my second NaNo, and I love the spirit of it. I don't know how to add a writing buddy, do you? I'd love to have you for one and hear about your novel. Maybe we can even meet for coffee and writing sometime. Maybe we can even find some more Napans - surely there are some!

Hi Suzykoala,
The easy way to add a wrimo as a writing buddy is to click on their username in a forum post. It takes you to their author profile. On the left hand side is a link that says "Add as a buddy." Just click on that, click to say OK and you've got a buddy!
If they don't post in the forum, but you know their username, you can use the "Search" function at the top of the main webpage. Just click on it and follow the prompts.
Happy Writing!

Hi Susan,
It would be great to meet up sometime. I'll add you as a buddy. Edinburgh is a nice city - are you originally from Britain too? Or did your daughter move out there from America? I'd love to hear about your novel. I live in Old Napa, near the downtown area. I haven't lived here that long, but it's a pretty town.
This is my first NaNo, although I have just finished writing my first book (it took nearly 18 months). So this is my second book... I'm hoping to make less mistakes this time around!
Josey :-)

Hi Napa Valley Writers,
I'm doing Nano for my 4th time (wrote 50,000 words once). I teach creative writing on the Upper Valley Campus of Napa Valley College (non-credit/no fee) and I'll be writing in room 5 on Thursdays the 12th and 19th from 4 to 5:30 if some of you want to join me. You're welcome to visit my class (Thursday 1-4) in room 4. Our semester is coming to a close, but the new semester starts January 19th. (I'll have a memoir class at Rianda House in St. Helena from 2-4 on Tuesdays as well as the Thursday class.)
I hope to see some Nanowrimers next Thursday.

Another Napa Valley writer. I am a bit far behind in my word count but forging forward. Do most of you type out your writing? I find that I am writing by hand and then spend too much time typing instead of writing more? Any techniques, suggestions?

Is there someone else you could put in charge of transcribing your handwritten stuff for you?

Do you really need to write by hand? I thought I had to and resisted using a keyboard, but you do get used to it, and it's so much easier once you get going.

Hi Ana,

Check out the section in the main website's FAQ's about writing by hand and word count verification. You do not have to type your novel in order for it to be counted. There is a process by which you can verify and upload a word count. Too involved to get into right now in this post, but do check it out. I actually tried it and it's pretty cool.
Then, once nano is over, you take your time to type your manuscript up.

Just keep on wrinting by hand. Don't worry about typing, just keepa running count and update nanowrimo as you go. You can type it all up later. :)

Hey All,
I live in Lake, but spend a LOT of time in St Helena/Calistoga. I'd love to get together for a write in some sunday at the Calistoga Roastery.
