Hi all! At today's kick-off party I promised to create a thread for us all to log in and let everyone know our NaNo names. So, this is me, Diann. Please feel free to add me as a buddy (only if you want to.) I try to stay slightly ahead of the word count curve so if you need someone to pace you, I'm probably a good choice.
And if you need to contact me for a pep talk or a swift kick in the rear, just let me know. It's easier for me if you EMAIL me because I am able to check email from work but I cannot access my NaNo mail at work - so uncool, but they pay me to be there, so I can't complain too much. Email: kalindria at gmail.com - remove the spaces and use the @ symbol instead of spelling it out.
The kick-off was fun. Great food. Thanks everyone for coming and sharing your questions and insights. For those who couldn't make it, attendees received stickers, plot ninjas, dares, stress balls and some even got temporary tattoos!!
We're making a special effort this year to raise money through donations for NaNoWriMo. If you host a write-in, please ask for donations. You can send them in to HQ yourself (just note that it's from Riverside County region) or give it to me and I will send it in with what I collect. I have two posters from past years - one from Script Frenzy and one for NaNoWriMo - that I will be auctioning off to raise money too - maybe at the TGIO party. If you're interested, let me know.
Landon (co-ML) and I are available to help you and answer any questions - I urge you to ask them here in the forums so everyone can benefit. We have a LOT of newbies this year and our goal is to help you ALL reach 50K in the next 30 days!!

Writing that springs from the surface of existence--when there is
no other way and the deeper wells have dried up--is nothing,
and collapses the moment a truer emotion makes that surface
shake.

Will those of you who took pictures at yesterday's kick-off please post your pix on flickr or someplace and then post a link for us? Or email them to me and I can do so. I have a NaNo album set up from previous years.
THANKS!!

Hi Hi, I was at the party with my son, Trevor, and my husband, Barry. It was lovely seeing everyone and getting to meet so many new people.
My Nano name is JFletcher (so creative, I know)
My husband (Barry) is under zzr1200
I'm not sure if Trevor can log into his account so I'll have him let you know when he gets a it figured out.
Sorry for the double post about the early morning Write In next Saturday. I swear the computer said it couldn't access the server. I didn't think it posted at all >.<
Hopefully someone else likes mornings. I'm thinking of doing one later in the day too, perhaps at Borders in the Crossings Mall, or at Panara in the same area. A little soup, some bread ... and a writing frenzy? Hmmm ... that could work.
Good Writing All!
I hit over 4K words today ... woohoo ... though I do find that it's a lot of description and rather too slow, but there's time to edit in December, right?
See ya all soon I hope!

In case it's not obvious to everyone, to make a new buddy, click on the person's name to the left in red. That will take you to their NaNo author page. On the left on their page will be several links including one that says Add As Buddy (or words to that effect.) Click that and then confirm that you wish to add this person as a buddy.
If you add someone as a buddy, they will receive a notification the next time they log in so they can add you back if they wish to.
Unfortunately, if several people add you and you have 3 notifications, you might want to write them down or save them on your notepad because if you click on one, you can't go back and view the list.
You can also access author pages and add buddies from NaNo mail and the other forums on the site.

...early morning Write In next Saturday.
I added it to the regional calendar for you. You are an early riser, aren't you? I'll be sleeping then.
Weird problems all day. I'm hoping it resolves once people settle into their writing. Even with all the problems, this is still the smoothest launch I've seen.

Hi all
I enjoyed meeting old friends and all the new people at the kick-off party.
I’m trying for 2000 words a day so I can relax during Thanksgiving. So far I have eleven killings and one village wiped out, and in modern America that should definitely translate into a best seller. LOL

Hello, Olivia here. This is my first year doing NaNoWriMo, so I hope it will be a good one. Looking forward to the next 27 days! (And dreading them, just as much).
