Whilst drinking last night, Simon brought up the fine idea of including bees in everyone's nano novel.
Why bees? As you fine mancunians should know bees are the universal symbol of industry AND Manchester. I was delighted to dicover by fabulous serendipity that Jacqui is somewhat of a bee expert too. What better way to research a topic than just scour the brain of a fellow nano genius?
NB Wasps or gnats won't cut the mustard. It needs to be a bee.
So can I plea for a bee or bee references to appear in people's fabulous work of fiction, so we have a metaphorical hive of them out there? (I am thinking space bees would be rather cool, zombie bees cooler.)

I'm already envisaging one of the most gruesome things I've ever written. I'll get them in :D

As soon as I read this, one of my characters may-or-may-not morph into a beekeeper or one of the sci-fi elements may now involve bees.
Aka, they're going in there, somewhere! :)

I accept the challenge, although I have absolutley no idea where I will fit a bee in! Would a bee-like buzzing count???
If not I will have to resort to ghost bees.

I tweeted about this last night: http://twitter.com/bignutter/status/5317800363
I can easily do it. I think I could stick it in Chapter 2.. Honey (made by bees, put on toast and stuff).. and "Working like Busy Bees" (I won't talk about the context since this is an All ages forum, but let's just say "Bird and the Bees" and leave it as that)
Since most of the Novel is set outdoors, It easy to talk about bees.

How random. I was already thinking that the only insects that were going to have been introduced to the Moon were bees in order to pollinate the plants. So I'm almost certainly going to have bees in there anyway.

Hmm... I'll my my hardest, but I may have to settle for the odd bee metaphor here and there. My story does not lend itself well to bees, even zombie ones.
