Hello everyone!
I don't know how many of us are writing our novels in chronological order, or are skipping around from bit to bit to connect them all later. I just know I'm one of the former.
For anyone who likes to write chronologically...what do you do when an idea for a later scene hits waay too early in the month? How do you connect it all later?

I'm usually a chronological writer too, but in 2006 I learned that jumping ahead helped me lots in achieving my word count. I usually start off as writing in order and when I get bored at some point in the story, I write what I feel like writing. Usually I end up writing the climax of the story or the end, and I try as much as possible to make references to the things that happened at the past, regardless if I've written it or not.
Then I just make sure I take note of all the things in the other parts I wrote so later when I write the scene that connects them, I know what to write. :D
I remember an advice saying that you write the more exciting scenes first, and it works for me only if I am running out of words :D

I thrive on out of order.
But be careful when you do; it's always better to outline it first before you continue. The story might change or get draggy when you reach where your MC is in the future than before.

I have so many bad habits when I write, seriously. ;;
Last year I wrote in chronological order, and I found it relatively okay since if a scene wasn't exciting, it was mysteriously ominous (!) or unabashedly fluffy (!!!), and I thrive on omens and fluff. (Ominous fluff?) A lot of ideas for later scenes hit me as I was starting, so what I did was write down all my thoughts and adapt the earlier scenes to my future vision by inserting all sorts of little hints and possible lead-ins into my current writing. Writing chronologically for me isn't so much a progression through parts of an outline as it is more like tending the growth of a very strange plant. You water it and give it fertilizer and prune it in an attempt to govern its direction, but there's also a certain point where an idea just strikes you and refuses to let go, and you're given the choice to go along with that line of thought and see where it leads you.

I wrote the out of order bit and filed it under "reserve"

7000 and 8000 words ALREADY?!
I wrote out of order last year, and now I find that my completed 50K is totally all over the place. So I'm trying to write in chronological order this year. ^^;;

I don't plan or particularly want to write out of order exactly but I just wrote the epilogue of my story even though I'm not done with the first chapter yet. I think having a solid ending to work towards will help my writing process.

I outline, so if I hit a scene I don't particularly want to write on a given day, I'll skip over it and just leave a big gaping space that will (hopefully) be filled out on a day I do feel like writing it. I wouldn't dare do that without an outline, though, because I just know I'd get all confused and not know where to jump to or what has happened in the bits I neglected to write.

I don't usually write out of order but when I tried WriteorDie for the first time, I wrote a random scene and didn't want the words to go to waste, so I copied and pasted it onto my novel's file and changed the font color. XD Now I have text blocks in different colors, waiting to find their right place in the story.

I almost always write in order; I think it's the OCD in me that's causing it XD So I almost always have outlines at hand as well because I am bound to be doomed if I don't. [Although there are rare times wherein the scenes/sequences are so vivid I rely on my memory alone...]
I only write out of order when my mind's set on one scene and I won't be able to get to it if I don't, say, conquer the current scene I'm working on. Since I use dividers, I insert one after the last sentence/phrase/word of the current scene and then type away the more interesting scenarios =D [Hopefully that wasn't confusing OTL]

A goal has to be seen before and after words are written out of order.

I keep an "abstract" which is set apart from the main story. If an idea pops in my mind while my story, I jot it down there. When the main story's chronology is nearing that part, I add it back.

Wow. 10,000 words on the 4th day. ^_^ Goodluck and keep it up!
Anyway, to answer your question, I'm writing in chronological order right now. I thought about skipping yesterday because I was kind of getting bored and I wanted to plunge into the action parts. But I didn't because besides from keeping my novel organized (I'm not sure if it really is ^_^), it makes me want to finish the current chapter faster to get to the part which I want. ^_^
I've just finished my first chapter and I'm taking a break. I'm looking forward to writing chapter 5 so I still have a lot of fuel left in me. ;D Although I don't know if my eyes can take more of this 'all-nighter' thing. ^_^
God Bless to all of us!

I am a bad writer.
I write both chronologically and out of order. I actually plan on making my novel non linear. But that's after I write the bits and pieces. Yeah. That's how I write. Bits and Pieces.
