As an experiment, let's try a one-hour mini write-in tonight.

When: Sunday, Nov. 1, 8 - 9 PM

Where:Online at http://chatnano.net/tempchats/detroit.html

Registration is required to use the chat server, so allow a few minutes to do this and receive a confirmation e-mail. The chat rules say keep things family-friendly. Otherwise it's going to be like a regular Detroit write-in - free form and flowing, with a couple of questions around the virtual table and a word war or two.

Known problem -- Firefox users, if you can't type into the input area at the bottom of the screen, click elsewhere on the screen first, or turn off the sound.

Don't know how this new medium will work out, but it could be interesting. Let's see how it works out.

How did the experiment go? I had a prior commitment that I had to attend to. Did the mini write in offer any insights?

With only 4 hours notice, a grand total of four of us showed up. We proved that little "What was your best _____" quizzes work, but word wars may need a little modification online. I plan to try again soon. The chat channel, of course, is open 24/7.
