Sorry for the double post. I'm stoked that I beat my personal best by about a thousand words using this goofy 'build by scenes' technique.

Wow... that's always how I've approached fiction. I didn't know any respectable professionals did that too!
I combine scenes with (when I have enough plot to do this) what Gregory Frost called the John Cleese method - take some butcher paper, roll it out, write your scenes down, and figure out how to fill in where there may be some gaps. I'm not doing that this time, though - just writing by the seat of my knickers.
Congrats on finding a method that works for you! We'll rule the writing world some day.....
