I'm a bit irritated that it's come to this, really I am. I've been try to get my hands on a laptop for quite some time, since the beginning of October. When that didn't work out I started using my old one out of desperation (the hinges on the screen were broken). As many of you witnessed at the write-in today, that screen died and is beyond repair (it would cost more to fix it than to just replace the computer entirely). Which I can't do on either front: despite my best efforts, I remain unemployed. No one near me is hiring, and the people that are are just to far away.

Which brings me to the reason I'm posting: I need a laptop. ANY laptop. I feel absolutely terrible to ask this of everyone, but I am desperate. I only need one for the duration of NaNo! :(

This is a long shot, but I figured I should try.

PS: This took forever to type up of my DSi. @_@

AHHHH I know how frustrating that is! I am using a very old back up laptop this year. My Mac is down for the count at least through November (and probably the rest of the year at least). Good luck hon, I hope someone can help you! I wish I could. :S

Hmm . . .actually, I have my old laptop. Vista. But i had downloaded a programmer bigger than its memory and it crashed. Had a friend let me borrow his disk to recover it.
But I can't activate it just yet. It has no wifi, but you can plug it in.

Let me see if the writing softwares still work. Wordpad does, at least. T.T

That would be great! I could just download Open Office to it.

You might be able to just put open office on a flash drive and put it there that way... Wish I could help more but my own old laptop is absolute junk. :/

I have nothing witty to say here. Please move along.

Ok.

Looking over my old lap top again . . . . I have to make sure you know your options. lol

The only writing things on there IS wordpad and notepad. I reaaaaalllly reccomend getting another (plus my mom is acting attached to the old thing -.-;;; Not like she uses the dang thing. >_<

So I looked online to a couple of stores, hopfully they'll be within a price range for you.

http://www.walmart.com/Acer-Aspire-One-10.1-Netbook/ip/11081785

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=12509574

Here's at Kmart, with shipping and loads of sales. This is just one of the affordable ones I found (now in color pink! XD)

http://www.kmart.com/shc/s/p_10151_10104_020V001354374000P?keyword=mini+...

$219 compaq with 24 hour return (if you want 6 month warranty, 10% of purchase pric)

Normally I wouldn't go to pawn shops to look for a computer, this one over here has several in the low price range. I asked what they did with computers to make sure that there aren't any viruses and stuff and the employee responded that they did run a virus scan on the computer. So this eased my concerns a little.

(AND you can ALWAYS haggle. if you need haggle skillz, just ask my mom XD. She's been to too many yard sales NOT to be able to haggle)

Like I said, I reccomend ALLL of these over my computer., ecspecially since it keeps giving me a "This computer is not registered, fraud cd. lol this may be fake copy, etc) Those are my major concerns and I only keep it now because it has invaluble memories on it. So . . . . I reeaaaallly suggest you surf these. Hopfully they are cheaprer than fixing and/or buying a the computers you were thinking of.
