I went to the Nov. 1 write-in at the Writers Place and

-we had the largest write-in turnout: 30! people, all heading into the surf of their novels
-I watched lots of people get some good word counts under their belts--a good thing to do, before the work week hit
-(and then there was me; so it goes)
-watched someone not eat lard
-ate the bottom off of a Rice Krispie treat
-wondered what in the world this mummified monkey is going to do once the rats wake it up

I went to the 11.1 Writer's Place write-in and

-I saw people I hadn't seen in days, some in more than a month, and many I had never seen
(because as you all know it's all about who sees who and who is invisible or mirrored)
-I watched a painful exchange of sushi
-I witnessed a woman snort a fruit fly in search of its story
-I tested the power of sound canceling headphones and they served me well
-a one-armed sweater appeared, the temerity of conjoined needles was verily true
(why just the night before I saw Morticia Addams holding up a three-armed piece of clothing for a cousin)
-did dishes and took out the trash
-witnessed a man having an accident on the stairs
-saw a scarecrow sitting in a truck waiting for his goblin
-heard tell of the Dead HORSE Society
-typed outside for ten minutes enjoying the evening
-didn't quite meet my goal - but that's what day two is for

I went to the Nov. 1st write in at the Writer's Place and...

-Shouted ideas for coffee-shop names including Xpress-O!!! with basically the entire upstairs room and had the door shut on us.

-Wrote over 900 words to add to the 1,500 something I already had.

-Made my best friend believe that my MC had painted his sink.

-Wondered about the effects of LSD laced Dr. Pepper for an obscure metaphor about blood.

-Tried to twist a Rice Krispie treat in half with my bare hands.

-Tripped over the sidewalk TWICE, both times after saying that I wasn't going to be clumsy.

-Had my characters hold an awkward, non-motivational conversation about teens and romance.

-Figured out that my MC is turning 100 this year. Happy almost-birthday Vicky!

"What are you doing here? I thought I killed you yesterday!" grumbled Albi quite racistly.
"No, Albi. You didn't kill me with your dragon flames. I crawled to safety, but you did leave me very badly disfigured," laughed the boy.

November 1st @ Writer's Place

* Failed to annoy Kit to the degree teamevil does it. He is a seasoned professional after all.
* Instigated the quite noisy discussion of dorky coffee shop names. Became very attached to the name POWER SHOT.
* Enlisted another unfortunate soul to this madness.
* Was shunned by, well, everyone, even teamevil, because I don't know when to shut up.
* Met people new and old

I went to the Nov 1st write-in at the Writer's place and...

-Also participated in the aforementioned dorky coffee shop discussion

-Wrote around 1,700 words

-Wrote the first kiss of many (my Nano's a romance)

-Said hi to a friend from my Israeli folk dancing group

-Made a netbook buddy

Huzzah for the dorky coffee shop discussion! People downstairs would've had to be hard of hearing not to hear us all shouting 'POWER SHOT!' or 'Xpress-O!!! (with an underline with little wheels on it and emphasis on the O)'

Things I forgot to list. I:

- Looked around at all the little netbooks and said my laptop was a giant.

- Dramatically suggested how poetoffire's characters will get to the scene of a wreck ("CARL! LOOK AT THAT CAR WRECK!" "SLATE! LET US GO LOOK AT THE CAR WRECK!").

- Drew attention to myself accidentally while unzipping my jacket.

- Ran like a spaz across the street to avoid being hit by a car while entering the Writer's Place, made it to the sidewalk alive...then fell flat on my face.

I went to the Day One write-in at the Writers Place and...
...I was early (and late, too).
...Mel bet against my abilitiy to learn more than 3 names at once--and won.
...we had so many wonderful new participants! I learned 13 or 14 names & faces (oh, you think I don’t remember them? There was M, C, T, S, G, C, K, R, A, E, E, D, B, N... and that was in reverse order of introduction. 15 if you count simplymad’s other real name, which is T).
...I drank matcha. mmmm.
...I refused to tell Mel what I was eating, and let her think it was a stick of butter when it was merely boring white cheese. Decided to have dinner properly next time. Papa John's next week, anybody?
...I was mocked for my social networking garrulousnesses, by the very people who cultivate them.
...just as I have been wanting to for weeks, I tried Completely Winging It.
...I liked Completely Winging It much, much less than I expected.
...I discovered that I loathed my story beginning and wanted to quit completely.
...I discovered I could write it anyway, when
...I wrote another 1500 words anyway to reach 1667--out of SHEER BLOODY-MINDEDNESS THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

I went to the Nov. 4 write-in at Central Resource Library and

-decided that next Wednesday we’ll meet at Black Dog Coffeehouse
(library is closed for Veteran’s Day; we’ll be back at Central in two weeks)

-was pleasantly surprised to see library-provided snacks (Thanks, Helen!)

-listened to a line of Sondheim done undead and considered the scare factor of zombie clowns

-had a word war with 15 other people (during which I wrote about a different meeting between monkey and rat, which included rat song)

-showed off my NaNoWriMo temporary tattoo

11.4 Write-in at the Central Resource Library and...

-Got addicted to the fruit chew bars or whatever they are called. Almost disgusting, but just good enough tasting to be addicting.

-Oh yeah, was the only person there without a laptop. Good old pencil and paper and numb-thumbs for me. (Actually, one other girl didn't have a laptop, but she just drew the entire time, likely dragged by her friends. Thanks for the pencil-sharpener!)

-I think I may have won the word war with 582.4 words in the ten minutes. Actually 224 words with a x2.6 multiplyer for having my thumb contemplate suicide. During the war, the MC and his wife bickered about the improper useage of their children/summon-creatures the Swordwings. Yay swordwings!

-Also got my MC to think he's currently giving birth thanks to a magical curse. Sadly, this isn't the first time it's happened. The hundredth time it happened was eons ago. If you havn't figured it out yet...my stories kidna weird at times. And I havn't even started on the three-gender aliens.

-Am currently trying to figure out my word count as I get the images of zombie-clowns out of my head again. It's only a matter of time befor-...too late. Now I'm imagining Kefka as a zombie. FF-VI veterans will understand the horror of that image.

I went to the Nov 4th write in and
- Learned the future is full of hyphens
- 49 words can be typed during the library closing announcement
- saw more people at a write in than I did at any of the couple I went to last year.
- received a nice monkey to watch me type

I went to the 11.04 write-in at the Library and

- although guitar hero MagicWings thinks he won with his 2.6 multiplier, it was really smiling Griselda Banks with the word war victory. I think she had 589 words flat out - and I was all ready to give her an extra 57 words for having the longest hair in the room - extra drying time bonus words dontcha'know
- I like the library - no evil coffee smell on my nose or eyelashes - a bzillion books and magazines to help with the research it as you go - good lighting (made someone happy, even though her novel is harder to write than anyone else's, it just is)
- I saw teamevil assembling his army of evil monkeys. the boy looked tired. he needs to get some sleep.
- I ate crazy orange peanut butter crackers - doom in plastic, but tasty
- we filled the square of tables. matched up MonoVerde, Griselda, and MagicWings with a person - thanks poetT for making the circle introduce themselves
- I checked out three books
- Helen asked me if I was done with my novel. Helen is awesome. And apparently much more of a researching machine than her fellow library scientist as she located the stats, where Pliny the Lesser looked for 15 minutes and failed. Helen rules.

Well, to be perfectly honest I wasn't doing very good job keeping track of everyone elses numbers while I was manually adding up mine. But I heard lots of 400's and 300's, so thats why I was saying I 'thought' I won. Although I am curious as to why your calling me "guitar hero."

Aww, thanks! It's the thought that counts. So now I get to add 57 words each day just for my long hair, right? :P (Oh, and MagicWings - I thought it was pretty sweet that you got as many words as you did when you were writing by hand. I know I wouldn't have been able to accomplish that.)

I went to the Nov. 4 write in and:

-discovered that write-ins are just a bunch of people sitting in a circle and typing.
-sat in the "long-haired" corner with two guys who discussed the important issue of whether 3-year-olds are real people or zombies.
-admired an awesome drawing by thegirlsittingnexttomewhosenameIdon'tremember.
-discovered that random introspection is the key to winning a word war.
-tested the limits of my laptop's battery.
-people-watched and took in tons of quirks for future characters (if you find yourself in my novel, you'll know why!)

Nov. 5th (do you remember it?)

* Found out that seating for NaNoWriMo has gone downhill at the Roasterie
* There was live music. My headphones > live music.
* Met an old friend, who discussed with us five ways his cat could have died.
* Talked about fandom, especially Star Trek fandom, for a good portion of the latter half of the write-in
* Had to admit my knowledge of anime was not encyclopedic, especially when slashbait is concerned
* Learned how awesome Michelle(sp?)/Leo is by eavesdropping. I'd want her on my side in a fight

I went to the Nov 5th Write-In at the Roasterie and...
... right on time, about 2.5 hours into the write-in, up walked jmedward, to everyone's pleasant surprise (and confusion).
... the barista answered that they would NOT always have music on Thursdays.
... I wrote a grand total of 209 words. *facepalm*
... my fellow wrimos provided some useful input/brainstorming, and a coin toss convinced me that I need to keep going the direction that I am (almost getting started) going.

I went to the November 5 write-in at the Roasterie and...

...showed up late. As usual. Maybe that makes it on-time. For me at least. Or maybe just early for the next one.
...met up with an evil teammate at the re-designed coffee counter.
...tried to carry-on a conversation inside.
...gave up.
...moved outside.
...was present and accounted-for for an undisclosed amount of time before the dolphin noticed.
...agreed to be hugged.
...trumped the various things people had burned on gas stoves and open flames with a kitten.
...saw a bunch of friends.
...met some new people too.
...basked in the presence of nerd greatness.
...drank some coffee.

Wait a minute... was I supposed to write anything?

I'm AT the Nov. 8th write-in at the Writer's Place and...

- So far have written very little, but Token Russian Kid is bickering with Old Lady With Old Ladyish Name.

- I've eaten a soda flavored gummy that tasted EXACTLY LIKE SODA. No jokes.

- Was recognized from last time!

- Made poetoffire leave because of my wacky antics.

- Have decided to try and make this a weekly thing.

- Discussed caffeine addiction and wifi passwords for the Writer's Place.

- Wondered what exactly IS in a zombie's head.

I went to the Nov. 8 write-in at the Writers Place and

- stole Meowtima's minion. (Now she is his protégé instead.)
- discovered that an MC of mine has a long-lost sibling. Finally! Something's HAPPENING!
- learned how to brew coffee. Watch me immediately forget how.
- helped chase a very lost and very frightened bat.
- named the bat James Kirk for its habit of "bouncing off things and being rescued."
- carried a rabies jacket out to a car.

I went to the Nov. 8 write-in at the WriPla and

- watched SilverDolphin NOT deliver on sweet Cobra Starship moves.
- learned what the Z stands for - guys named Zen need to know these things.
- called Todd by the wrong name. Dean Pegler is but the first of many made up names for him. 'Cause.
- refused to trade Esther's pizza for sushi. But the hip-hop, I mean, ballet moves were appreciated.
- watched Meow wandering around a lot and wondered how he gets those high word totals.
- missed seeing Mel - I think she was there, just more invisibler than usual. (my word. you can't have it)
- enjoyed hangin' in the corner with Eri & Helen & Yasai and that kid with a lot of monkeys.
- ye gods! wondered to what evil purpose those monkeys will be used...!

Nov 8 Writer's Place:

- got called by the wrong name many times (somehow I consistently said Kegley such that people heard something other than a K in it)
- found the sound of a manual typewriter oddly soothing while I wrote. It took me back to learning to type as a kid.
- held the door for the bat
- wrote a lot of words

Todd.

Well, first of all, the monkeys carry messages to her...but that's only the beginning.
She says she's amassing an army--as soon as she gets 100 she's going to send them to delete other people's word counts.

I told Mary B that I hope that was okay we let the Writer Place's pet bat out. I can imagine the bat sitting on the porch, squeaking, waiting to be let back in for its dish of milk...
--
I went to the Nov. 8 write-in (33 writers!) and
-was glad to see people come in from a week in the cold (It's good to not be alone, isn't it!) and
-got ML-appreciated all over the place, including pumpkin muffins and real-live Lindor Truffles (and the real answer, Meow, is that I like variety, and I always try the new flavors that show up...). Thank you very much, all.

Then I went home and unwound to Thai noodles and Torchwood and a white truffle with a little glass of milk.

I went the the Nov.8th write-in having already met my daily word quota and, not having a laptop anyway, determined not to overachieve by exceeding the daily word quota but instead to simply loaf about eating snacks, perusing the toys and distracting others. Words from my middle school report cards came ringing to my ears "Would rather socialize than work."

Wrote about 12 words... just for show really, found out one of my MC's reminds someone of a real human being they know (very encouraging), got some good feedback from my group about what type of sexy, expensive car a doctor would drive, cast my vote for someone's magical character's name but was outvoted ... left early because I didn't want to thwart the production of anyone's masterpiece.

I went to the November 8th write in and:
*knocked out well over a thousand words; closing the gap left by the flu.
*added a little jet fighter to my spaceship fleet.
*realized that I'm really gonna have to make a point of bringing cash to these things -- can't always be hitting up

*decided that a race of feline humanoids speak a language that sounds very similiar to Chinese.
(Don't know WHERE I could have gotten the inspriation for that one.)
