Hey All,

I live in Novato and Dr. Insomnias is a great coffee shop. They have free wifi, amazing scones and good coffee as well as crazy protein shake things for those of you who don't drink coffee. The front of the coffee house gets a little crowded but the back is almost always empty. They have a backroom and a back patio. Tons of chairs and tables.

I was thinking 11am on Tuesdays or 9am on Saturday . What works for people?
The only problem-this place does not stay open late.

Let me know!

Kierstan

Hey Everyone,
I got to Dr. Insomnias at 11:03 today (bad Kierstan, late) and I wasn't able to find anyone. The lady behind the counter said that a woman came in looking to meet but had left.

Sorry that I was a little late. I ended up ordering a chai and sitting in the back room. Hopefully next Tuesday I'll see a few faces.

Hi Kierstan,
Sorry I missed you. I arrive at 10:50. (sometimes it's hard to find a parking space) Ejoyed a caramel frappe and scuffin.
I stayed at a table just across from the bar. I even had a NaNoWriMo paper on my table. I stayed until 11:20. Sorry we missed each other. Perhaps the woman thought I left when I went looking for you. I'm game for another try. Perhaps we should wear a certain color or???
Let me know.

I live in Novato but I work and can't make it until 3 pm.
My guess is most people work daytime and the best time for a write-in should be at least after 4 pm. If Dr. Insomnia closes early (I've lived in Novato for 17 years and have never seen that place open!) then I'll go somewhere else.

The beautiful thing about a write-in is you can hold one with two or twenty people, at 11 am or 11 pm (although finding a place open that late may prove tricky!)

The best time for a write-in is whenever a group of writers can get together. For some people, that's in the morning, for others, the afternoon, for the rest of us, the evening.

One way to do it (certainly not the only way) is to find a time that works for you, and post it and let the chips fall where they may. It's risky, I'll grant you that. I started my Peet's Petaluma write-ins by picking a time and day and posting it in the forum. I didn't know if anyone would show up, but some did, and now it's become a staple of our Sonoma County write-ins. We never have more than six, and sometimes only two of us show up, but it's still fun and the word count happens!

Good luck with your write-ins. I'd love to try and make it to one. I'll keep watching the posts to see if a day/time works with my schedule.

Happy Writing!
