Just a short 'bravo and brava' for the new activity button. I'm notorious for forgetting these things and this is a great visual for me. Must be part of that 'cloud thing' Chris B was writing about [g]

Well, it's not part of the magical wondrous cloud, but it is mighty nifty. It's part of the header implementation that our wizard programmer, Dan Duvall implemented for us this summer. And it's all possible because the folks at Google designed a full-featured calendar that can be imbedded in websites. Google is sometimes a little off in its maps - so make sure you you're clear where you're headed - but it's quite elegant none-the-less.

(More on the header? is here.)

I love your sig line!

Thanks Lazym [s], it is pretty nifty. As for the sig line, hey, he 'is' a local after all! [g]

btw..I updated (so I thought) the rest of what I had written and instead of adding the original number 1600 something to the added new number, it gave me only the number of the second installment (1080). What am I not doing correctly?? I wrote a lot but am only now entering it in Word and then copying and pasting it onto the N-site. Can you enlighten me?

thanks! glad I have the whole thing on Word at least. back to typing. I have a sick kid at home so ended up writing in between in an actual 'real' notebook. I need to transcribe before memory fades and I cannot read my own hand writing!

If you're using the vaildator tool, you need to copy and paste the ENTIRE novel so far. The automated monkeys shred their copy after counting words so they don't know you're trying to add to what's already "there". Cuz as far as they are aware, there IS nothing there.

If you're using the "honor system" number box (as the one in the header bar), you need to enter the FULL count.

In both cases, adding the "current" segment or count will make the system think that's your WHOLE novel or count.

Clear as mud?

50,000 words is easy.
50,000 words that make sense? Much harder.

aHA! Yes SIR! clear as mud [g]. I will copy the whole thing each time then. As I don't know how many comma's I use, the Nano automatic word count takes that out so I will want to give the right word count. Dialogue and descriptions make for LOTS of commas [s]

thanks Flickguy, you save the day
