Hi everyone!
I've been doing NaNoWriMo every year since about 2005! Yay me! And this year I started on the 2nd Day of the month, writing. Joined up today and I already have 550 words. I think that's quite an achievement.
I'm from Wolverhampton, part time worker, part time student. I study Philosophy and Journalism (BA Hons). Has anyone got a busy day-to-day schedule and how do you find your time to write? This is the first time I've been so busy while writing :-/ I need ideas on how to balance out my day...
Happy writing everyone!

Hi Starlighter,
I think there are a few of us in the same boat actually, I've certainly spoken to a few. I work full-time and am also studying with the OU for a Literature degree, and have now taken on this massive challenge. My strategy is to basic spend five minutes here and then when I get them, which includes my lunch-break at work, lol. There's a big group of people who are students at Birmingham Uni who are also having to juggle studying and Nano-ing. It seems we may all be suffering from the same kind of lunacy, lol

Don't worry about joining late! Fact is, you signed up and that's the most important thing. I have a hectic life with school, but I find that we often say we don't have time, but think of that time when we sit in front of the television or when you chat to your friends on the phone. If you can take that time aside to do some writing. You could try getting up just half an hour earlier in the mornings to write a bit, and then do some at night. If you get around 850 words in both sessions you'll get the daily target!
In short, think of what you do, that you don't actually NEED to be doing and implement writing then!

It's never to late. Just amend you daily targets to catch up. :) I'd try and catch up by the end of the week that's 278 extra words per day. So just do 2k a day and you're golden.

Hi Starlighter, when you have a lot of other things going on it can be difficult, i think the best thing to do is to maybe try and set aside a period of time each day, be it an hour before bed or in the morning, whenever suits, or just whenever you can if you can't predict times. I'm going to find two of the weeks hard as i'm working 8pm-8am for seven days straight and mainly just sleeping inbetween, I think it's just a case of not pressuring yourself and taking any opportunities you get, especially for a good amount of time rather than a few minutes here and there:-)

Hi, I too joined yesterday and spent so much time filling in the profile that I got off to a shocking 145 word start.
I'm a mom to two teenage boys and a three month old baby girl so I may be a little ambitious doing this, but having heard about it from my brother last year, I will find the time to fit it in.
My personal rules:
Turn the TV off
Aim for 2000 words a day, even if it is completed in ten sittings!
Have the laptop set up constantly to steal every available minute (saving energy will have to wait)
Cook ready meals (eating healthy food is out the window alongside saving the environment)
Turn off instant messenger on laptop
Get to at least two of the meetings
Good planing? I really hope so! Good luck to all x x

Yeah Starlighter, it can be tough to find the time but I have found so far, and on other seemingly impossible projects, that finding a little time here and there opens the mind up to finding more time. As has been mentioned above, sacrifices need to be made (Such as TV, or seeing friends for example, I'm not talking about cute little lambs or anything) but it is only for a month.
As I say, trying and succeeding to find a little time helps me find a lot of time. I begin to find ways to have time to write, and when you enjoy writing, thats not exactly a hardship, in fact sometimes it feels like a guilty pleasure.
You're only a day or two late, you'll be caught up in no time. Best of luck,
Chris

I started a day late too, but I'm not too worried - my first Nanowrimo year I started 15 days late, and I won!

I only started today....... Don't know if I'm gonna finish but what the hey.......
Going ok so far. But at the moment I'm just chucking words at the page. No idea where my story is going. It's kind of plotting itself as it's going.

I joined late also, but I'm a fast writer and have a lot of time on my hands :)
Writing as it comes is usually rather interesting and fun, I find. I also have a few Roleplay forums going for inspiration.
