Since I'm currently 'under-employed' I'm free most weekdays. I have been hunkering down at some of the coffeeshops on the far westside:
"212 PIER" is a "new" coffeeshop that has taken up the FORMER location of the 'Novel Cafe' (The Novel has now moved north up Main Street) ...still basically the same vibe (and furniture) http://www.212pier.com/
also: The new Santa Monica Library (on SM Blvd) -- very nice.
I'm planning on being at PIER many afternoons, but work (and lack of it) being what they are, things are still up in the air.
