Just wanted to officially announce that I'm lowering my goal from 200k to 150k.
It's based on various reasons but the main one is that I think I was too ambitious in setting my wordcount last december. I'd just come out of an amazing month and was still buzzing from it.
Also I realised that I haven't announced formally: If anyone beats the highest MLs wordcount (Which is currently me, but could easily change, Come on Sue 30k by Saturday!! You can do it!). Anyway so get typing. :)

Yeah but you work. I don't do much other than write. :P
Seriously just because I do large wordcounts doesn't mean anyone's not good enough. I can't emphasis enough that any wordcount is amazing and 50k is very very hard. Whatever your wordcount you should be proud of it.
Personally I am not working and I'm only spending 3 hours at college (including travelling time). That's the reason for my high wordcount.

For me it's not so much the amount of time I have available - it only takes about 1hr15 a day to write 50K over the month, and I could easily spend more time than that writing. It's more that I'm quite assignment-focused - so I'll write to 50K and that's enough to meet the challenge, so I end the novel. That's why I love Nanowrimo: without someone setting me the "homework" I just wouldn't bother writing anything, and it would nag at me all year round.
Still, I am always a bit envious of the people who can spend the whole day writing, and I always try to take a few days off work in November.

I agree. Nothing like a deadline to get me working. Focuses the mind like nothing else.

Yeah exactly. That's why I set myself high goals. I have the time. I have nano as my motivation. I just make as much use out of it as physically possible for me. :) And I like the challenge. I like setting higher goals for myself and meeting them. It's part of what makes me.. me.

Lol. You know NaNo has finally come when!
If anyone beats our wordcounts then we'll buy them a special prize. That was pretty much the entire point of me writing that bit up there. >_<
